    I'm laughing with you when I watch this! It feels good to see another person who has shared this experience also. I totally get the opening the box euphoria because I just got mine yesterday and it was so much more than I expected to own. And, in similar fashion, I put it on my $1200 used bike I bought in the early spring. ( I have the regular and not step cast) I could not cut that steerer tube....you are braver than me. I just held it like a new puppy and watched CZcams with it. But...I took it to a shop this morning to get the deed done. I also forgot about the 15 x 120 axel until a day after I ordered and then bought a single budget wheel out of desperation and am still waiting for it. The wheel was basically used and abused anyway. I also put the 4 piston Shimano XT brakes on the same bike last month. Did I mention I paid $1200 for the bike? LOL!

    just a quick heads up, from a bunch of tests done on crank length they don't really make a noticable difference (usually 165-175mm are tested) and shorter ones just have more clearance, maybe the fact that they were new and difference made it feel faster (and obviously the fork)

    • @EvansMTBSaga
      @EvansMTBSaga  Před 2 lety

    The question is what you would get for selling the bike and then add $1100 on top of that for a new bike purchase, or a solid second hand one. Personally I would go that route before the bike takes a plummet in second hand value.
    I've recently upgraded brakes on my personal commuter bike that cost more than the bike itself, but that bike isn't worth selling in terms of monetary value, so that to me made sense given I use it 365 days a year and don't own a car. It's all about price per year.

      @@EvansMTBSaga I went back a couple of times to make sure it was not a fluke, but consistent. As you can guess, I am catching up on your older videos. Entertaining and informative!

    Evan can you please tell me the rotors you order for use with the metallic pads from the mythic breaks? I want to upgrade with metallic pads / calipers but shopping on line is confusing.

    I'm just 5'0" and I have a hardtail with 700mm wide handlebar. Should i cut the Siskiu D7 handlebar to 700mm also or will that affect the handling of a full suspension bike. Thank you.

    • @EvansMTBSaga
      @EvansMTBSaga  Před 2 lety +1

      That does seem a little narrow. You can always do it in phases. Start with 760, if you don't like it, try 740, then so on. Wide bars=more stable bike

    Really disappointing that they didn't use boost spacing on this bike. I am surprised it has a tapered head tube, almost all new bikes with non boost spacing have a straight steerer.

    • @EvansMTBSaga
      @EvansMTBSaga  Před 2 lety

      Right! I'm sure eventually it'll have a boost front. But only $25 and there's a fix for it. If there wasn't a tapered head tube, the bike wouldnt be a great deal

    You don't need an O-ring for the fork, use a zip tie.

    Were you able to go tubeless with the stock nobby nics that came with the bike? I can't find any information to confirm whether or not the tires are tubeless compatible. Thanks!

    • @EvansMTBSaga
      @EvansMTBSaga  Před 2 lety

      Yup they are tubeless compatible tires! I showed footage in my first video with the D7. The rims need to be taped though.
