Nobody asked, but if he did it would be highly poisonous: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Potassium_fluoride
@@ericjessee On the way home from work a Sabaton song came on called Attack of the Dead Men. Knowing that Sabaton songs (normally) refer to historical events I got curious and looked it up. The song was about the German attack on a then Russian controlled fortress (this was WWI) where they used a Chlorine and Bromine gas mixture. Chloride molecules are the most common salts particularly Sodium and Potassium Chlorides (I typically use a 50/50 mixture to reduce my sodium intake while boosting my Potassium a bit) but when Chlorine molecules are isolated they become a terrible gas that destroys the lungs and eyes in mere minutes.
@@grn1Chlorine gas is so deadly because of just how reactive it is.

@@jffrysith4365 it's because women are really under-represented in STEM, so women in STEM are highly praised
@@jffrysith4365 He is referring to Steph is the one that can back the science. She is the one that point all the data points together and many assume it is Mostly MatPat doing all the data entry, deduction, script writing and recording.
@@demonica180 but that's not true, they both went to uni and probably learnt how to do data entry... I think it's denouncing his abilities too much to says he's only a theater nerd when both of them are equally qualified.
Though, I guess I'm not personally involved, so I don't really know. But I do know they met in uni, so they probably did similar courses.
@@eliserss9179 That's not the problem though, because rarity doesn't define the value of the person. Even if there were less woman in stem than men in stem (which there aren't) the rarity would not cause Steph to be more important towards Food Theory than MatPat. So it is absurd.
After having watched the video, I believe it is to do with the moment when MatPat was talking about chemistry, where he asked for Steph's help. I believe this implies that Steph is a Chemistry major whereas MatPat is a different major.
This would be a reasonably analysis, and for a person who doesn't realise that they both went to uni, this comment would be reasonable. (without the frills because People in stem are important, gender has no play here.)
Matt definitely thought about doing this when he was crying in to his pillow at night and his theorist side went, “Wait, how good would my tears taste on Popcorn?”

@@Estarfigam BYEEEE LMFAOOOO
@@Estarfigam lmmmmaooooooooooo
Low key I think he would sign up for one of those oroboros steak sets so he could find out what human meat tasted like.
Technically the human brain is wired to be addicted to salt, regardless of the source...and that's actually the same neurological circuit some addictive drugs utilize to trigger addiction, & the biggest problem with those drugs is they bind to the reward centers more strongly than salts do, so it actually will disrupt your ability to consume salt, since the drugs effectively have replaced salt as the thing that is to be "rewarded" for consuming..
As for residual pheromones... that's not possible since the heat used to evaporate the water, would have broken down those compounds, & in effect, rendered them entirely inert.

Then I just went all the way to eeeeewwwwww. Still watched the whole thing cuz I'm a broken person, lol.
Lol! Same 😅
Honestly it's not gross to boil it, you know that all liquids will fly away, and bacteria will burn to death pretty fast. 9:42 I can’t be the only who laugh at the way it went from Matpat comforting Steph and collecting his tears to him saying this gonna be some tasty popcorn
The fact that Steph's tears were immediately dispersing across her cheeks may have been caused by her foundation. If her foundation is hydrophilic, then the tears would not bead up compared to MatPat's skin which is naturally hydrophobic. It honestly would be really interesting to have Steph use foundation on one side of her face only and then test to see if her tears bead up on the side without foundation.
You also probably had more salt present in your tears than you thought too. As mentioned, our tears have mucus present in them, and mucus contains salts (~1%) to prevent aggregation from occurring so that should be taken into account as well when calculating the total salt concentration in tears.
I hope they see this

I was so excited when Matt and Steph started talking about why onions make you cry, but I want to see a full food theory on how to stop yourself from crying while chopping onions.
you need to stop the onion irritant for getting to your eyes, some methods I'v seen are wrapping plastic wrap over your eyes/wearing swimming goggles, placing a wet rag by the cutting board(was a wive's tale about the rag attracting the irritants first vs. your eyes) keeping the onion room temp before chopping. keeping the onion cold before chopping...
@@plumtucker9514 no, you inhale the stuff released from onions and it makes you cry. plug your nose with tissues or something
Contact lenses stop it. I forgot this when i was wearing glasses instead and ended up a mess
Professional chefs don't cry while chopping onions simply because their knives are so sharp they don't rupture many cell walls and thus the onions don't release as much compound chemicals (putting on swimming goggles would work too).
glasses, goggles, or any type of eye covering works
After Matpat retiring I can probably make a bowl of popcorn fully salted..
Next time make sure you dissolve the secretions in a larger volume of distilled water, filter it to remove anything which isn't dissolved, then boil it to extract the salts.

This relationship is precious
This episode made me cry 😢 it made me think about my great grandma she loved Pixar
I think harvesting sweat for popcorn would be incredibly gross, but there are ways to make it slightly less gross. 1: I would recommend showering before exercising, to ensure you don't have any deodorant or makeup on your skin. 2: once you get your collected liquid I would suggest leaving it in a sealed container and letting it sit for a few days, preferably in a cold place to reduce the growth of bacteria. This step will help the skin cells separate out, giving your final product a lot less cloud. and then 3 I would suggest using a pipette to extract the liquid from the area between the skin cells at the bottom and the area at top to help reduce the amount of body oils/fats you'll be collecting.
after this you should have mostly salt, water, and bacteria, which you can boil away into a bunch of salt and dead bacteria.

The funniest part about this episode is the fact that it teaches the most science that has ever been thaught on this channel.
Also, I know that they were giving a basic explanation but for those who don't know, the salts they were talking about are called binary salts, meaning that they're made from ions and only need those two molecules. If you were to really define a salt, it would just be a metal combined with a the backend of an acid.
I mean, just a quick google search shows that's just *one* type of salt, simply because the non-metallic component doesn't always need to be an acid to form the salt, I.E. calcium and chlorine

No, although they do have slightly different compositions. And I really do mean slightly, you would not be able to taste the difference over the salt.
Matpat: *starts a food science channel*
Also Matpat: "So what is salt" "I DIDNT EVEN GO TO SCHOOL FOR THIS"
Steph: *silently judges matpat*
"Oh no, we did it. Oh NO." the realization hitting Stephanie is the best part
"You spent so much time wondering if you could, you never stopped to think if you should"
Ya know, I’ve been a fan of yours since at latest 2018, and I’m curious about you and Stephanie’s choice and dedication to being married (At least, I assume) and from mainstream things like Will Smith’s struggles to personal things like most of my loved ones (And even me) struggling with unhappy dating and marriages. How do you two do it? When I see and think of you two (And your kid) and hear and see the love you guys have for one another, I feel like I’m witness to a rare and beautiful anomaly! I’m so happy for you and the others, but how are you guys doing it? It feels like marriage and truly even caring legitimately for others is becoming a lost art. And I’m not cynical: I am desperately curious. This is the kind of thing I hope never disappears from the world!
yeah no as much as we are told so, love isn’t dead. It’s not that hard if you find someone who you can actually communicate with and if you set proper boundaries. Don’t get me wrong relationships and especially marriage is a lot of work, but it’s not impossible.
New subber here, I am very impressed by the quality comedy and also the quality husband/wife interactions. Although I suppose the two aren't mutually exclusive...
My 4 year old "oh, they made salt"
"From tears."
"We can not eat that,.. they're not going to eat that are they?!" She was very concerned with your health and safety.
TIP: you want two cry? Watch Cinama Therapy with Alan Seawrite. Alan cries, it sets everyone off, its very messy.
Alan is a giant softie. He makes me tear up every time he does.
Even laugh with twilight with cinema theory
"We aren't disgusting people."
"Now watch us eat the residue of our evaporated tears."
And then rate the flavor like a cannibal sommelier.
this is me eating the tears i cried when matpat told us hes leaving
You guys should've called me. Granted, I'm in the other side of the world but, if you make me watch sad movies (like really, gut wrenchingly sad) or scold me and then try to make me feel better with kind words, your salt content would've increased by at least 2 to 3 times. I'm not even kidding. Like genuinely.
I felt so conflicted when he was consoling Steph… while holding his little extractor and glass test tube like… the intimacy of being there for her with the TOTALLY disruptive “for science” moment is both hilarious and jarring for my brain! 😂
