I didn't understand his lore as i never checked the items during that area, when I fought him i felt he was someone who was suffering but was helding a baby, but wasn't real. I thought he was a deranged dragon mad dragon who lost his child dragon because his race got killed by humans until i found out his lore is far less from that.
