Genichiro is a brilliant boss, he has a ridiculous amount of moves, he can chain almost everything, and yet all his strikes are telegraphed to the point where once you learn him, you can read everything he throws at you in an instant. Favorite move has to be the one where he combos into either the sweep or the thrust, I still get caught by that occasionally.

If you have auger of ebrietas and a semi-fast melee weapon, you can usually keep spamming r1 and then use your auger immediately before you run out of stamina. This should allow your stamina bar to fill up, and you can resume r1 as soon as he gets up. With a decently leveled character, repeating this process will have you ending this fight without a scratch very quickly.

Genichiro I used to think was trash because on my first playthrough I adapted to sekiro combat rather quickly so he was a pushover but when I did the ashiin run and did way less damage I realized the fight is really good when he has an actual good amount of hp. The same thing happened to me with lady Maria I used a weapon on my second playthrough because it was cool but didn’t have the stats for so she had way more health and became really great when I didn’t think she was that good originally. It’s crazy how some bosses can go from mediocre to amazing just by being a little tougher.

Also the music is so otherworldly sounding and fits perfectly, along with how many spiders can appear on screen in a cluster gives a slight creepiness to the whole thing. But still a great list!

Idk, I just, don't think that the challenge they pose shouldn't be a factor for the quality of the boss, mainly because like, it varies from player to player depending on skill level, as well as other factors. I think lore should be a bigger factor than challenge posed. Which is why I didn't agree with the Yhorm ranking, I think Yhorm is an absolute spectacle of a boss fight, even if it is easy.

Taurus Demon deserves an A in my book, because of the way it teaches you the mechanics of the fight.
The first run, you run straight out onto the bridge and as soon as he comes out and you're getting ready, got your shield up? You get shot right in the fuckin back, and it's not long til that spells the end for you.
So on the next run, you immediately turn around and see that ladder, so you climb up and fuck those doods up! Then you realize, "Hey! Wait a minute... THE PLUNGING ATTACK!"
On top of that, it's the first REAL boss, and most definitely the first boss that will make you feel that dread from not wanting to deal with the run back to it after losing.
    Great boss.

Dancer is my favorite boss in the entire series, easily. The design, the animations, the setting the music, and the difficulty not only make it one of the best in the series, but also incredibly unique. The way she almost swims through through the air as she walks like some kind of land based shark, or sea monster is insane, and very surreal. The rest of the animations are god tier. And her design is maybe my favorite in the series. Combined with the fact that she’s either insanely hard or very doable based on knowing the fight, and that she sets the arena on fire progressively during the second phase of the fight makes her just the best imo.

Genichiro might be the best idea From Soft had. Mind you, he's not the best boss, but the fact that they put him in the game 3 times, making him nigh unbeatable at first, a challenge in the middle and then a complete joke at the end shows progression.
Furthermore, Genichiro is the first bossfight that really teaches you how combat is different in Sekiro. You're meant to Deflect, to feel the rhythm of the fight, to know when to push your advantage ( when he pulls out his bow for instance ) and attack. I can almost fight Genichiro blind, because I know that after 2 hits from me he's going to deflect and attack, and then -I- deflect and attack with my 1-2, making the fight a really enjoyable dance.

Soul of Cinder and Gwynn get better the more you pay attention to the lore and setup of the bosses. Every die hard fan melted the first time they heard Gwynn's soundtrack when fighting the Soul of Cinder and you definitely felt the power of his charge when mimicing Champion Gundyr or the moves of Ludwig from Bloodborne it is one hell of a fight. It didn't hit the note with casual players or just speedrunnerts because the fight itself is not that hard and I definitely think that at least 3 phases was the way to go for the final boss of the original game. For the reasons above it didn't get as much credit as it should have but the atmoshphere, the music, the place making you feel like you are at the end of your long journey, the feeling that he is not even a lost soul just an amalgamation of everything that is within the Dark Soul. same. I don't mind the gimmick fights at all and honestly kind of wish there was more of them. a lot of dark souls 3's bosses are excellent but are so similar they kind of overshadow each other. like dancer is good, but is completely outdone by pontiff, an earlier fight, so dancer's fight suffers in that regard. I think my favorite fight from vanilla ds3 is like lothric or abyss watchers. neither are particularly challenging but I really liked the gimmick of having the little brother revive lorian and cast magic during phase 2, and abyss watchers phase 1 was a cool way to represent the lore in the fight. it was way more interesting than if it had just been 2 more solo humanoid with roll catch combos. I think bloodborne hit a sweet spot for me personally of having many interesting and good bosses that were diverse and unique from each other

Many of the main bosses will be swift, aggressive and well-designed like many of the main Dark Souls III bosses, whereas a lot of the smaller dungeons will have simple, weak bosses for the sake of it like in Dark Souls II, although they probably will get better and smaller in number yet higher in quality further in the game.
