RongPei is such a treasure. She truly loved and cared for Ruyi and Ruyi admired her so much. They were friends. Ruyi had a kind heart and saw she needed to be near her. I loved how Rongpei would take on anyone if she thought they were hurting Ruyi. I want to just slap Jia so much for her evil ways.
Hailan and Rongpei are the best friend's we all need in our lives 💖😻💖

You can tell the unique bond with Halian and Ruyi. And also, how Rongpei cares about Ruyi as her master. Hence the reason why she is called “Auntie” for good reason for the young servants.
Ruyi really had a sharp eye when she first saw Rongpei and decided she should work for her. Even an outsider (as in she doesn't live in the palace) like Old Madam could tell how meticulous and dedicated Rongpei is. And that scene with the apricots is just so tender, feels like they are family. Like Rongpei is truly Ruyi's auntie or similar.
@@RavenSutcliffe definitely. If they were reincarnated in another life, they would be family in another world. Since Rongpei did said in one of the episodes that, she never had any family to look up to or rely on. Hence she treats people that is generous with her as a friend.
@@sakurapablo671 Yes, Rongpei was orphaned young and all she could do was work :( but instead of being bitter and resentful she carefully preserved the people who were kind and honest to her. Like when she said that it was okay for her to suffer, but she couldn't let her sisters (other orphaned/poor maids) suffer as well because they had no money.
I think Hailan put it best: "you see all the details and think on behalf of Elder Sister. You are neither servile nor overbearing and you discern things very well. I am glad you are here by Sister's side".
I definitely like thinking about them reincarnated as family in a happier life.

In this TV show, I get it. Several concubines lost their babies because somebody poisoned their food. Ruyi is cautious because of it because she knows that person is still in the harem.

I never understood why they overdubbed Zhou Xun's voice with another actress when Ruyi is giving birth here... in a later episode, they let her use her real voice. It sounds so fake, I just don't understand why they would suddenly use a different voice for the main character.

@@rherasobeebii2178 Don't take this too seriously, it's a drama. Dramas are usually historically inaccurate.
Here's some historical background:
Consort Ling was highly favored by Emperor Qianlong; thus, she ascended to the position of imperial noble consort within 2 decades. She also bore him 6 children (7 if you add the miscarried child). Historians believed that she did not become empress when she was alive because 1) some officials didn't want an ethnic Han Chinese woman to be empress, 2) Qianlong wanted to hide the fact that their son, Yongyan, will be his successor (he basically was preventing his sons from plotting against each other). She was given the posthumous title "Empress Xiaoyichun" when her son ascended the throne.
Some also believed that Empress Hoifa-Nara (Ruyi) was quite unfavored because she bore children only when she became empress. This implied that Qianlong was only obligated to produce a legitimate heir with her when she became queen. Furthermore, he was so mad at her when she cut her hair that when she died, she was not given a burial befitting her rank.
I'm not saying that this consort or that empress is good or evil, but just because a drama portrayed them that way it doesn't mean we can dislike them. We don't know their true character.
