It was named the Sniper Box due to the artwork my daughter did on the box. It is my daily box with plenty of videos on it playing downwards of 20Hz and burping in the mid 50hz range. I compete with it in multiple classes including musical average classes, burps and port scores as well. It has took me 2 years to perfect this design. It is a series tuned 6th order with quick change baffles, I also run a single 6.5" sub as well.

Did they at least give you a replacement X8 since you guy's put a Huge amounts of power to it at their facility and on video?

@@macalla1996 this was a sub they pulled out of stock. I just let them use the box the rest of the test and equipment was theirs

Awesome! I personally love to see Companies have the balls to test and push there subs to there limits and take the time to video it for everyone to see.. This video should shut alot of people up as to what 8spl subs are capable of these days.. I’m currently running a CT Sounds Meso 8 on almost twice the rated power at 1500rms and its taking it without even getting warm.. This vid has got me wanting this X8 Version 3 sub now.. Now that's some real guts! Most subs can't even handle 500 more watts on the recommended box, yet this sub still has plenty of leeway for further improvement. Keep it loud and low!

Daniel Harrell really well. I’m using a cabinet sized to fit then both to ensure full maximization of the subs and sound. It’s run by Alphard sub amp running +2000watts in 1ohm. They pack one hell of a punch like fuck me hard punch. Way better than anything I’ve had. But wish I had space for dual 12s or 15s.

hopefully do these work out well in my pick up truck. I currently have an X 18 in the bed funneling the port through my cab window, 20 Hz is awesome on it but I'm losing most of my bed it sucks.

Sundown is for sure the most underrated brand ever hands down they are impressive out of the box of after 5 mins break in time and the power they can handle. Wow I respect that company for sure , they are good at what they do .
My first sundown sub was an sa8
And at one point when I got bored I put a T2500bdcp at 4 0hm over 1500 watt
It handled it with no problem.

Not sure if this is the correct place to ask, but here goes. What airspace and port size would you recommend for this, in a non-comp, SQ ( love my 25hz and up lows), daily use situation. RMS power that i can put to work is 600watts atm. Thanks guys!

I know this is an old post but I have a Cadillac ATS with a 12 W7 in a ported box I’m trying to find a subwoofer small enough with a ported box so I can fit my surfboard in the trunk and I’m looking at 8 inch maybe 10 inch but will this sub sound good with rock rap music ? I’m using a Jl slash 1000 V2/amp. What size ported box is best for this subwoofer ?

I just bought a new x8 v4. I have a Rockville db16 amp that should push around 1000 W RMS clean at 4 ohms and I was worried that may be a little too much amp for it but now I’m thinking it will be just fine.
The power being driven into these Sundowns is crazy huge. The thing that struck me is that you guys don't seem to care about the music, just the test tone! Kinda like guys who talk about torque in a car rather than how usable it is in the final product.
How close is the SAv3 8" to the Xv2 8" or Xv1 8"???... Because my SAv3 8"s sound louder than my Xv2 8"s... So I was kinda wondering how close are they actually??..
I had an idea of putting 6 of these in a geo metro or a Suzuki jimi in a transmission line box, not for spl

i love tricked out enclosures like this,if he designed this,just think theres gotta be tons of other designs that we dont know about and could be jamming the hell out of a few small subs instead of huge sub's and heavy enclosures in our daily drivers.right now im swopping out my box with 2 SA 12's and half way done with a box for just one heavy X12 i have two,but too much weight.btw gotta give sundown prop's biggest bang for the buck sub's on the planet.later from texas.

Is repairing blown speakers worthwhile? If so is it something that you can do yourself?
Yes to both questions.
Not a fan of bandpass enclosures due to the peaky nature of them but, this bandpass box looks pretty nice though. I prefer sealed, IB, and DBRs the best.
Just out of personal interest for a similar build inspired by this ‘sniper box’ setup… what happened to this build? I’d like to build something similar. But simulating it with different air spaces and different port placements before I build the final project
OMG that video was awesome those badboys are some BEAST not to many companies out there that would put their products out there like that and like he said that was just a stock subwoofer and it took almost 7000w on a 750w subwoofer imagine if u got a custom subwoofer yes SUNDOWN AUDIO makes custom subwoofers all there Subwoofers are underrated just saying im not saying u should do what they did that was just to show us how those badboys get down i fukng luv SUNDOWN AUDIO.

If you need to see anything else from sundown then that to wanna get you some sundown subs idk what else will make your mind up for you those numbers on a single 8 dual 2 is incredible
I bet you could have pumped more into it if the motor were actively cooled. Not sure why active cooling for subs isn't a "thing" yet. Excessive heat is a big killer of electronics. I would consider heat dissipation at the same level as proper grounding.

Hey Sundown... I got a Question for y'all. Do you all take trade ins by chance?.. reason I'm asking is is because I need the space in my car but I don't wanna lose my output to much. I got two Sundown Sav3 8"s one is only a few months old I got from Apex at y'all's North Carolina wearhouse which is where I live btw lol. Anyway I'm looking for a single Sub that can do very well on its own. Not nothing big so 10" or 8" preferably a X 10" like a older V2. I'd be willing to trade both the SAv3 8"s for one X10.
