    What’s the port area and length for 2 sundown x12 v2 D4’s. Well I know one is 40 square inches of port area. But what is it for two? And what would the length need to be for two also. 5 cubic feet would be the least and 6 cubic feet the most. Suggested length for those sizes would help a lot. My port right now in 5 cubic feet is a 5”x8” by 12” long right in the center of the box and it sounds good but for the money I spent for them I would feel better if I knew 100% that the port is the way it’s supposed to be and sound great. Thank you for all that you do for diy guys in the world.

    Hey man, love your videos and I love sundown subs! I just bought two U-12s and I bought a rp 4500 and I have the subs wired to one ohm and I’m wondering if that’s wayyy to much wattage? I have them tuned with the smd dd1+ and they don’t seem to be hitting as hard as my 2 Sa-12s on the rp 2000 wired to one ohm which doesn’t make any sense. The box that I used for the sa-12s is the same box I put my new U-12s in and it’s 1.8 ft^3 per chamber before displacement which I know it’s too small. I’m working on getting a new box but I’m wondering if you think that could be why they aren’t hitting that hard or maybe I’m overpowering them? I can’t seem to figure out what’s going on. Oh yeah, I’m using sky high 12 gauge speaker wire one the subs which I also feel may be too small

Soft parts like cone surround n spider all same size n material are the exact copy from china. It costs alot to shit a magnet n is not allowed on a plane period hence the reason hes got a magnitizer. Look for robotunderground on you tube a third the cost and actually hand built right here in us. The honesty he pukes out all over the shit you think u know had me feeling stupid n ive been installing for 25 plus. Ps a gause meter measures magnetic strength in the actual coil gap n he proves mag size means dick. Dude builds a 4 stack 4 inck coil 4 k rms sub warrantied for 444 bucks shiped. He tears apart every over priced chinese repop and clearly compares n makes anyone whos done or owned more than one system seriously kick them selves in the ass. I have a quick question... why does it seem that the majority of the blown/recones that I see in town and just on CZcams/forums are sundowns? I was looking to buy 2 X12S for my 4th but the more I read and see its mainly sundowns, no offense I love sundown and any sub that can rock. Maybe its user error putting to much power then recommended (I know they are underrated) but they pound like a mofo. Help me out that way it will help in my future build, I'm currently running a T2 16inch (18) Rockford and it slams with great electrical. But they are very pricey compared to sundown that sound amazing and at half the cost.

    • @UnofficialAudio
      @UnofficialAudio  Před 5 lety +3

      I'd say you're looking for a conspiracy that isn't there. The better question would be why do you only take notice to the blown sundown subs? I'm in many facebook groups myself, as well as several other guys here at the shop and we see subs from ALL manufacturers getting blown in those groups. It's not just sundown and there's definitely not some unproportional number of sundown subs getting blown.
      Secondly, I don't see any issue in any of these groups of guy's sundown subs just blowing randomly for no reason. Soooo many users run their equipment well out of specs with too much power, too large of an enclosure, etc so to see some subs blow shouldn't be surprising to anyone. Especially if we're talking burnt voice coils. We've tested and proved many times over that sundown subs will easily handle their rated power. If someone is burning voice coils it is from sheer abuse or negligence. Here in this very test we burped way more power than anyone should ever put to one of these subs and it still works. There will be a longer 5min torture test video coming later as well.

I was just doing a little research before I do the switch, I mean you get one hell of a sub for half the price of what I paid for mine. • @UnofficialAudio
      @UnofficialAudio  Před 5 lety

      Make sure you're checking the subwoofer correctly. I have an entire video talking about it. The impedance doesn't stay constant if the subwoofer is moving. Your dmm could also have resistance in the leads or a dead battery. I cover all that in the video.

    • @rowboyto156
      @rowboyto156 Před 5 lety

      i watched the video and copied everything you covered. we tested it in my room, i closed the window and told him to hold his breath so the sub doesnt move while testing. i bought a new dmm since the previous one gave a resistance of 3 ohms when i had the leads touch each other. the new one is 0 ohms when the leads touch so i was assuming my readings would be lower.
      i just pulled the battery off the new dmm and put it in the old one but im still getting a reading of 3.3-3.5 ohms

      The frequency has direct effect on coil cooling.....faster cone movement means more air cycles means cooler temps. Any woofer pushed to limits at 70 hz wont take half the abuse nor half the power at 30 hz its 2nd grade common sense well maybe 3rd then again do you know what hz is in a physical form not what it sounds like....smh.

Guess you could have a slot port extension that attaches somehow, one thing nice about round ports you can easily make external extentions.

    • @christopherparis6841
      @christopherparis6841 Před 3 lety

      Higher frequency simply means more cycles per second.....meaning that more air is moved every second past the coil to help cool it. Basicly stating that at 30 hz that thing couldnt take a 20 second tone over its 750 mark.

Pretty fricking common sense uf you have any clue what hz means physically not what you hear....smh. Fricking rockville would do the same im willing to bet. But ya know they smoke rockville on solid low cycle test tones for what 2 minutes straight?? Well exo did n theres no sub that holds rated rms solid test tone small sealed box low frequency..... Ignorance is bliss. Dont think that fake ass aluminum cooling ring makes this any different then skar ddx or early 90s soundstream spl 170 model or lmao dayton audio or omg ten other brands that repoped or rebranded already been done n made shit. Big magnets have zero effect on how strong they actually are. Ill put an og soundstream 170 against this thing any n every day because guess tf what???? There the damn same soundstream had way more quality magnets need a gause meter to measure that.

    Play the damn thing to some music, like what 99% of the consumers will be doing to them!
    For fucks sake, will the next test be, how long can you submerge a subwoofer in the water?
    Perhaps, take this wasted time & put it towards making a sub that's not ugly as fukkk! Yes, quality is more important, but looking at SA subs is painful! They look cheap & need a face-lift!
    On another note, excellent job making a solid subwoofer, it is appreciated.
