now something I've always wanted to do is blow the speakers with an IR camera. ir cameras are expensive and i don't got a lot of money so I never got one
That's a really tough subject to document on video. There's just so many variables with different subwoofers. No two are exactly the same in every aspect except motor force. You'll also have different fs, mms, etc. which all will play a huge roll in testing. I can tell you that with all other variables the same the subwoofer with more motor force will be louder every time. In other instances a sub could have slightly less motor force but a lot less moving mass and be more efficient and louder. Or a sub's fs could match the peak of your vehicle better making a weaker subwoofer louder.
I recommend at least our sae-1500d or our sae-2000d for a pair of E v.3 subwoofers. As long as you're not blasting test tones non stop all day they'll handle the power fine.
#SundownAudio My first Sundown sub was an E12. Had a single 12 on 1200 watts RMS. Never had an issue. Obviously I wasn't listening to test tones. Lmfao. But on music, it didn't mind the 1200. After about a half hr of heavy listening, the dust cap was pretty warm to the touch. But that was it.
I eventually upgraded to a single SA-12 on the same amp. Similar performance. Dustcap still slightly warm after half hr. Now I'm running 2 SA-12s on 1KW each. Again, no issues other than warm dustcaps after extended play.
@@AbTekpro not much sound quality difference. The subs are very similar other than the SA Series has a larger motor and higher power handling. I would make my decision based on the amp you are using. The E-series has a 3db higher sensitivity. But the SA-series can handle more power. Thus, the SA-series can get louder if you have enough power to send them. So I would say if you have more than 750 watts RMS per sub, go with the SA-series. If you have less than 750 per sub, then go with the E-series. The E-series will be louder on low power. But as far as the quality of the sound, they're very similar. They do great with music. Even during the loudest bass note, they can still beat with the kick drum. This is where cheaper subs fail. search for "Sundown E-12 v.3 Prototype" video on youtube. You will see it being pushed about 2 times as far as in this video. And the production models have even more clearance than that. I run mine with no subsonic filter my port is tuned to 30hz and I can blast 20hz at full rms and not worry about mechanical damage.
Yes,you’re starting to get it. When you blow it up people know what it’ll take. Don’t forget to explain clipping. That’s what kills most speakers. People don’t understand that most of the time. And you should show them how to set their game knob properly. I’ve seen it done wrong on several videos on CZcams. So much bad information out there.
1000 rms at a little over a minute is insane. But then we have to take into consideration that it got burped for somewhere around 12 mins. I’m almost sure if they burp it at 1k for 5 mins it will take it for longer then over a minute

This subwoofer cannot bottom out technicaly theres more room in the bottom plate for the coil not to hit
The mic was just laying on the table. The db reading has nothing to do with the test. We only used the TermLab Magnum for clamping the power output of the amplifier.
search for "Sundown E-12 v.3 Prototype" video on youtube. You will see it being pushed about 2 times as far as in this video. And the production models have even more clearance than that. I run mine with no subsonic filter my port is tuned to 30hz and I can blast 20hz at full rms and not worry about mechanical damage.
Got 2 E15s on a rockford t1000bdcp making 1600 in a 7.5 cube box by drew jones and it gets down...
Doesn't the quick stop cool the coil?
Mabey 1 degree if that he ran it for 10 min straight that things heat soaked
Yes,you’re starting to get it. When you blow it up people know what it’ll take. Don’t forget to explain clipping. That’s what kills most speakers. People don’t understand that most of the time. And you should show them how to set their game knob properly. I’ve seen it done wrong on several videos on CZcams. So much bad information out there.
1000 rms at a little over a minute is insane. But then we have to take into consideration that it got burped for somewhere around 12 mins. I’m almost sure if they burp it at 1k for 5 mins it will take it for longer then over a minute
I know companies with subs rated for 1K that can't handle this. This is some serious quality.
@@SeanOMatic which companies? Just wondering what I should avoid 😆
@@bailey2517 skar, ct sounds, pioneer and such
@@oscarishandsome5150 lol that comment was 5 months ago. Skar is great, and CT sounds has good sound quality. Pioneer makes great head units. What are u on bro 😂. Name one sundown sub that's near the same price as a Skar sub, that's better. I'll wait.
@@oscarishandsome5150 I'm not paying an extra $500 for the zv6 12 just to get a better voice coil and more xmax when I could just spend like $400 on a ZVX-12 and get almost as good of performance for literally 1/3 the price
this or american bass???
I would like to see a sa sub video like this.👍👍👍
K Givens I would like to see the sa done like this test also
I would like to know how you know it is getting true 500 watts
Again. Term lab magnum....
That's a TermLab Magnum in the background reading real time power output from the amplifier.
Got 2 E15d2s in a ported box done by drew Jones..they fkn get it...people never believe I have entry level subs...lol
Im hairtricking on a single E12 just like this, love the sub!
inches on that voice coil?
2.5
Sundown subs are top of the food chain... I run Sundown and Fi in my whips. #loud
Top of the food chain, they aren't bad but my new Orion's are 7500 rms
@@jerryellis835 Orion hcca subs are great. Just can't stand the baskets. I have team Fi and zv5's
Yeah would be nice to see better looking baskets, agreed
I don't give a shit of the baskets are hot pink with unicorns on them as long as they can handle power and bang hard that's what matters
These are 2" coil subs aren't they? Pretty impressive for a budget line woofer. I bet you can get relatively loud with 8 or 9 of these on 10K... Hmmm, maybe??
I think they are 2.5 inch
I'm really thinking about doing a big build with these. I guess I should order 2 12's from B-Stock to see if I like them first
@@DavidHarris-jy4pp I had these years ago B stock..they were flawless. I'm not sure why they were listed as B stock
In a ported box the cooling would have been better.
My most favorite bass music has mostly constant and single low bass notes, not a lot of highs or bumps or crazy variations... High Five by Rittz, for example. Especially chopped and screwed, which is what I run in my car. My subs are years past broken in and I still smell a little glue now and then. Two Audiobahn AW1206T 12's.
Sign the basket and send it to me. Lol
most of the times clipping is the death of most subs, and of course, improper enclosure, we had a customer who smoked his zv5 18 by putting it in an sa-15 enclosure and just increased the diameter of the mounting hole and called it a day, he smoked it after about 5 minutes of play time on a sony xplod 500 watts amp...🤦🏽♂️
He probably didn't have an infrasonic filter, either, so he made the speaker work harder than a methed out sweatshop slave two weeks before Christmas shopping season.
Do you sell recones for all your subs
Yes we do including older discontinued subs.
lmao, i have two and they handle my 2000 watt like a dream
is it wired at 1 ohm?
@@dantegipson for 2000 watts most likely it’s 1 ohm
Do they sound good... Or are they just loud and meh?
Really good quality sound
This sub can take 750 watts per coil?
That's total power not per coil.
Sundown Audio unofficial but can it take 750 per coil?
Is it a ported box
Sealed
Yes the box is ported.
@@UnofficialAudio if it was ported why wasnt smoke coming out until you pulled sub??
please buy a wireless mic.
