- In this episode, we finish our long journey with Re:Zero! Won't spoil any of my thoughts here, but thanks to everyone who tuned in to agree, disagree, laugh, insult, and so much more! Still small time here, but this is the first time I've had anime fans to talk to, so I really do appreciate everyone who stopped by to wonder why I have "the smooth brain" lol. If anyone in Emilia camp will die or something gone wrong. Then roswal kill all the camp members and roswal will force subaru to start over. But roswal didn't know "subaru need to die for start over"
IMPORTANT CUT CONTENT from the light novel:
1. They cut a part of the carriage scene with Priscilla (royal candidate in the red dress) and Al (guy with the knight helmet) in S1. Turns out Subaru is not the only person from Japan. Al (Aldebaran), Priscilla's retainer is also from Japan. He's been in the Re:Zero world for 18 years.
2. Arc 4 (S2) had an epilogue. In the epilogue one of the Ryuzu clones is leaving the sanctuary and it's revealed she has Echidna's mind/soul/memories. That's right, the Witch of Greed Echidna is roaming around again in one of the Ryuzu Meyer clones.
They'll probably have scenes that cover those in S3 but in case they don't here you go! There's other cut content but these are the most important for sure.
1. You son of a gun! That would have been awesome to react to first hand XD But appreciate the heads up. It's kind like in Konosuba with Kazuma and Mistugi. I wonder how many other isekai play with this trope? Also, IDK if this came across in my reactions to SE 1, but Priscilla was initially my first favorite candidate. Anastasia then slowly, but surely, took the mantle lol
2. OK! Someone mentioned there's a reason Echidna's face was not shown in the flashbacks. Now I'm wondering if maybe Echidna's new body has the ability to shapeshift or change her appearance to other people?
Another commenter mentioned I should watch "How Re:Zero 2 actually ended" by a CZcamsr named Echinut, but I'm wondering if I should watch that video before Se 3 trailer or after. I'll definitely be uploading both though.

1. There is more to Priscilla than we saw in S1 for sure. I’ll just leave it at that.
2. There are some…weird things going on with Echidna. The Ryuzu clone Echidna at the end of S2 is not the same as the flashback Echidna or the tea party Echidna. There are 3 Echidna’s: tea party Echidna (~19 yr old), flashback/graveyard Echidna (mid twenties, if you look closely at the Echidna in the tomb her face shape is different), Ryuzu clone Echidna (alias Omega). If you think about it too, Echidna was indirectly responsible for a lot of what happened for both S1 and S2. She gave those books to Beatrice and Roswaal. Roswaal, following his book from Echidna, hired Elsa to procure Emilia’s candidate medallion, stood by while Ram/Rem’s village was destroyed, let Subaru handle everything in Arc 3, hired Elsa again in S2 and trapped Emilia in the sanctuary. We know that Echidna has vast knowledge of the world and how it works, is aware of Subaru’s time loop power, and has insight into potential futures as well as the past. All of that, and she was JUMPING at the chance for a contract with him. It’s almost certain she set everything up to guide Subaru along a particular trajectory. I guess my point in saying this is that Subaru is coming up against big players in this world who are clearly aiming to use him for their own grand schemes. Even Roswaal, with all his scheming, was just dancing in Echidna’s hand. If you want to see why accepting the contract with Echidna would have been a TERRIBLE idea, check out the Greed If route. Echidnut has a video on it, and it’s pretty good. He got some of the English VA’s to voice some lines for Subaru and Echidna.
Congrats on finishing S2! If you're interested you can check out the alternate routes. You can find summaries on youtube or read them for free online. Just avoid the Gluttony If story since it has major spoilers for S3 (Arc 6)
Glad you finished the series! I wish you the best in whatever show you pick up next :) My two cents for the Roswaal thing (if anyone cares) is that, at least as far as I know, grooming is usually sexual in nature. Roswaal has absolutely no sexual interest in Ram whatsoever. If there is a form of grooming that isn't sexual but more based on power than I would maybe agree. Roswaal thinks of Ram as a tool for his ultimate goal of reviving Echidna and slaying the dragon. Based on the advice of the gospel, Ros knows that Ram is critical for the success of this plan and has given her aid (healing her horn) and has gained her respect. Ros is the biggest Echidna simp around and his only interest in Ram is how he can use her to reach his goals. That is one of the reasons why he was able to so easily kill Ram in one of the loops, and had no emotional qualms about doing so. That's probably not something he would have done if he loved her in any sort of romantic way. But I think the major point for me is this: Does it matter? Roswaal is an antagonist in season 2. Antagonists do things that we consider to be bad. Does him doing a bad thing make him a poorly written character? I can understand not liking him, even hating him, but certain characters are intentionally written to be despicable. Just about every show or book you look at has people as bad or worse than him. In my opinion what matters is that his actions are consistent with his goals. He is written consistently, has many layers, and is super entertaining to watch.
Oh, trust me, I definitely agree. I never said he was a "poorly written character", I just said he was a pedo creep. And pedo creep very desperately seek valadation (be it sexually or emotionally). The excuse I felt everyone in "EW EPISODE" gave him, was that they didn't think he did it intentionally. IDK. If an adult man lock up an underage girl regularly at night and rubs her sunsually while insunuating they keep it a secret, can that be considered "accidental"? IMO, no, part of him wanted it to happen. But again, that's what I enjoy about Re:Zero, it can be interpreted in so many ways. I don't consider Roswaald a poorly writtern charactern because of the Ram thing; If I were to cite my biggest gripe with his character, it would be that all he did was be a plot device and exposition dump in bed while everyone else scrambled around. THIS is why I saw Re:Zero is at its weakest when it focuses on magic. The magic system is all over the place and way too convenient. Re:Zero is at it's best when it's exploring the political underwold and emotional nuaces of it's characters. And that's why I personally thinkg SE 1 was FAR better than Se 2, and I hope we explore the other candidates more in SE 3. But again, that just my opinion lol Ultimately, I still enjoy this series and am really excited for SE 3
@@JupiterMachine Fair enough, I also think the magic system is overly complicated and the anime doesn't do a good job of explaining it IMO. (Light spoiler) but season 3 does focus a ton on the candidates. Julius and Anastasia have some of the most screentime out of the majority of the cast, so you have a lot to look forward to. Everyone in s2 are just a pawn of echidna 3d chess board. And roswal is biggest clown and also fKing pawn of echinda
IMO winner of SE 3 is Anastasia, cuz I miss that girl lol jk I'm still wondering why exactly Echidna face not shown in flashbacks though. And yep, IMO Roswaald definitely the worst character in Re:Zero. Even the villains are better in my eyes.

But I will only disagree your statements on roswal.
Because
1) roswal doesn't have any interest or pedo relationship on ram.If roswal didn't supply mana of Ram horn , then she will die .
2) Ram mentioned "I love you " only bcoz rem memories gone from ram memory . So in POV ram she thought only roswal cares about her and it developed stockholm syndrome .
And roswal is definitely the worst character, I placed roswal in 3rd position in my worst character list .
Reason
1) if you remember in flashback of betty in s2 ep 24 , roswal mentioned "soul replication".In S2 ep 25 current roswal(roswal L Mathers) mentioned he is Roswal (roswal A Mathers). And in order to achieve it he needs to replicate his soul to a highly affinity vessel (like fingers of guese in s1) . So Roswal A Mathers transfers his soul from generation to generation/ or transferring his soul to his descendants (son/daughter)
2) In one of break time episodes of s2 , Elsa mentioned "roswal was disappointed on Elsa bcoz she was failed her first task which is insignia issue of s1". Yea roswal is the client of Elsa in both s1 and s2 .
3). Even though roswal is just roswal .he didn't gave emotional support to betty and left her alone in her library.
And I will blame on roswals tome of wisdom without it he is hopeless and cry baby

That's why Emilia mentioned "who is she ? It's actually echidnas graveyard "

In LN also subaru also confirmed the face of echidna is different from the tea party and face in the graveyard.
I've never seen anyone defend Roswaal before. He's a terrible person, and his relationship with Ram is toxic and an unhealthy dependance. At least from Ram's side. Ram's dependance on Roswaal being heightened due to the disappearance of Rem.. is definitely a problem that needs to be addressed. Lets hope future arcs do this.
Roswaal is super lucky he has been given a second chance to live and be better. But his actions, even if its overwritten from the loops, cannot be understated. He's definitely a manipulator. Now.. he can grow and change, sure. But I hope future arcs tackle consequences for Roswaal's past actions. Consequences that he cannot undo and will have to live with. If he's truly changed even if its just to uphold his contract, I hope he overcomes that. This is the world of Re:Zero after all. Its been WELL ESTABLISHED its a cruel and unfair place lol.
Even Subaru and Emilia. They've grown abit and have gained a better understanding of each other a little more. But yeeah, there's still alot of growth to do. Emilia's maturity being stunted to the point of her views of relationships and reproduction being sooo childish... there's still a massive gap there that's definitely a problem. Again, I hope future arcs address this and give Emilia more growth and development.

Again, I was astonished at the level of aggression from Roswaald defenders lol I thought he would be the last person anyone would try to defend, but apparently there is a group of people who think he accidentally groomed a child? It was very entertaining to read the warped reasoning and that is why I didn't take any of their insults personally lol
CZcams made me cut it out of the edit, but I was also very uncomfortable with Emilia believing she could get pregnant from a kiss. My exact words were "Um, wait what? Soooo...did she allow Subaru to 'impregnate' her? And why does Subaru seem OK with this? No way they're actually playing this off for laughs." But, yes, CZcams is strict and it did not appear in the upload. I hope Re:Zero is very aware that Emilia is a very traumatized character, and the series tackles Subaru (seemingly) preying on an emotionally weak attractive child.
BRO! There are so many things to discuss with Re:Zero! Can't wait to see how this series ends. It can go literally anywhere.
@@JupiterMachine Yeeah looking back on it, Emilia's scenes with Subaru are a bit uncomfortable with the extra context that she has the mentality of a child. Subaru doesn't know about Emilia's past, so I can somewhat see why he didn't think much of it, and sees it as another otaku waifu kawaii aspect of her. He doesn't know she was frozen as a child and came out still that same child.. just in a teenager's body. I hope as a result of Emilia's growth, she sits Subaru down and tells him her story.
An effective way of overcoming trauma is to keep talking about it until it doesn't hurt as bad anymore. Don't keep it hidden and buried, cos its more likely to make it easier to be triggered when any mention of the past or something reminds you of it. I'm no psychologist or therapist.. but I've been told that's an effective way to deal with. It helps cope with those easy triggers, and possibly helps you on the path of healing.
Indeed! This story has so much potential to explore deeper themes and more development for the characters. Season 2 finishes Arc 4. Considering I hear each arc gets longer.. and the novels just finished Arc 9, there's so much content to explore. And I hear each arc just gets more peak than the last. The author has a set plan to complete the story within 12 arcs, so we still have a long way to answer questions to series long mysteries 😂 Look forward to seeing you at Season 3!

I didn't think I was handwaving; I explained my reasonings during the video following that one and why I disagreed with the comments, each with different reasons. As for having opinions on fictional characters, isn't that why we watch media? To emotionally invest in these characters and stories? The characters we see on screen are fake. We all know this. But that doesn't mean we can't enjoy or dislike it simply because it's fictional.
