- Here are the details of my Iron Man helmet motorized faceplate and light up eyes - lenses which you can also see through.
The biggest challenge making your own Iron Man power suit - that you can actually wear! - is how much detail. Every expects it to look accurate in terms of colour and shaping, and if you’re going to get inside it latches, strapping and so on is a must but… what else? Do you motorise the faceplate? How much lighting and depth do you give the unibeam? What kind of flexibility and motion do the knees, knuckles and neck need? Well, hopefully you’ll agree I went all out on this Iron Man build. Let me know what you think in the comments below.

Awesome work! I like your idea on how the eye lights work.
Man! That table is awesome!
Dude!! Awesome table!!
Awesome work! I appreciate you showing the thinking that went into this. I love this kind of stuff!!
Really love the finished helmet, absolutely awesome, congrats!
You sir a treasure trove of information and I thank you for sharing your many techniques. I plan to implement a few my own suit so as to improve it bit by bit!
Really nice tutorials man, really helpful videos and website, keep up the nice work my friend.
Hey mate very well done on the iron man helmet.
I always follow you on you tube and on your website and i will look forward to see the repulsor and unibeam.
I've watched several of your vids...man you're very creative and talented! Excellent work on all the suits.
Dude ! That's really cool !
Helluva job man! Really helpful!
Awesome work on the helmet
Cool table!!!
Very awesome, I would love to learn how to do this, perhaps all aluminum...I plan on checking out your other vids, thanks for sharing your inspirational work.
nice work! Thanks for posting.
you know what this is so awesome and you are amazing, you've got a subscriber
I LEGIT WANT... no wait... I NEED THIS SUIT FFFFFFF LOL!!!... great work, my god, people like you are amazing!.

I love how you reply to comments such as that :)
Excellent Craftsmanship!
Simply amazing
awesome! nice job!
Nice work
So...you looked at a fold out table and got the idea for a helmet mechanism...you have my full respect for your random yet logic brilliant mind.
Cool nice work
awesome suit
You sir are a genius !
damn, that's really cool
Amazing!
Thank you so so so so much for making this video! It's definitely simplified the process of making IM eyes. :D
I'm curious, however... Where did you get the lights from? I looked around on eBay, but I was unable to find anything similar (same brand or knockoff) to the ones shown here.
Dont mind those guys tbh. your videos are great tutorials with alot of details well explained for any1 interested in making a costume wether its Iron man or another so keep up the great work.
jamesbruton i really likes your work
cool man,bravo!!!
some day... gonna build that suit
nice table dude
holy shit this is so sick!!
Can you see thru those eye glass pieces with the LED lights on? When the mask is down offcourse?
This is a really nice solution to the face plate working. I am in the process of making a full pep Iron Man suit, just finishing the legs this weekend and then last few bits to be fibre glassed before I finish the filler on everything. I've seen people using Arduino boards to control the face plate, lights etc and would love to have a setup like yours or using similar. My problem is that I don't have the programming skills to use the chip board and costume needs to be finished by Halloween!
That's awesome I want one
wow good luke man
Just wondering - Have you ever considered making the air brake flaps for this suit? I think it might be a nice little detail. Although it could also turn out to be more trouble than initially thought. But anyway, they could be operated by some kind of internal pulley system which would run through rubber sleeves to a small motor hidden somewhere comfortable. Also, it could even be possible to use multiple motors to operate multiple flaps in sequence.
Awesome!
holy...fraking tony junior...this cool and hot togather. great job..well done
You are a genius!
Hey dude, awesome job. HUD sunglasses are coming out soon, you could implement them in your helmet design! Then you'd have an actual, real, tony stark, iron man helmet. You are a hero to us all
Thank you for the trick about the LEDs and lace veil was gonna do something like that for a dj mask I'll post a vid later of it
Hello.
Congratulations, your work is awesome.
Do you sell one copy of this iron man helmet.? Its very interesting.
electromagnetic locking is also something to consider, if there're design issues with to consider with the motor and lifting the face.
This is cool.
EXELENT VIDEO
so cool
Omg amazing
smart idea
You rock. Are you going to put a video toturial or are you going to put it for sale?
Cool!
Hi there James im a big fan of your work and ive just finished my motorized helmet im having a problem though with noisy servos have you got any advice on this issue thanks
interesting video!
NICE TABLE BRUH
sickkkkkkkkkk!
I used to have this table!!
Do you by chance know if you were to use red LEDs (basically to get War Machine's red eyes), if would that work? Or would you need red chromed sunglasses for the proper effect?
Is it possible to make one that goes all the way back behind your head?
fantastic
You are the best
Thanks. I do watch your videos but I have nether heard you say any thing about using foam board to make a suit
you're a genius
¿Que material utilizas para el casco? Te ha quedado muy bien enorabuena
awesome :D
How did you make the helmet itself..?
Glued plastic together and used fiberglass to make 1 final piece?
You have officially gotten me interested in Mechanics and Physics.
Quick question. What did you use to make the helmet, before the servos and LED's I mean. Is it Pepakura or foam or what?
he is still doing it
NOW i wont be surprised if i hear about "real" ironman news any day. and i would know it would be you!!!!!!
YOU GOT A DEAL lol
nice!
that table is fucking awesome !
What color spray paint wi need I know yellow and red but do I also need the one to make it look mautlic
A motorcycle helmet like this would be bad ass
sooooooooooooooooo cool man
Ok, a few questions. 1. How do you connect the lights to the servo control board? 2. What are the codes to use to configure the servos and lights? 3. Do you have a circuit schematic for the voltage regulator circuit board connecting to the new picaxe 08? I have the rest of the circuitry figured out except these 3 points
As an alternative to an IR link, I think that it would be simpler and easier to use a magnet attached to the end of the helmet wire and a magnet of opposite polarity embedded in the suit and electrically connected to the rs232 controller. The wire would snap to the magnet when you put the helmet on and easily disconnect when you take the helmet off while still preserving your range of head movement.
i would like to know where you got the LED lights at or post a video on how to make them because i am making masks for fun and i would like to experiment on new ideas and i would like to try the lighting on the eyes
how do you make the iron man hand repulses? like the videos.
I'm having a hard time finding that fabric you use for the LED eyes. Is there anything else I could substitute for it?
Where did you buy your ledd lights for the eyes?
Cool.
could you use a spring and clip ?
Lol i wish I knew how to build stuff like this, and i wish ibhad the resources to do it.
Damn
thats so fucking awesome
hello james i dont know a lot of electronic and i was hoping if you help me out with my iron man helmet try to do motorized faceplate and light but i dont know what to do with my adrino and all this wires do you have/or make a video tutorial how to do the wiring step by step plz
which is the whole armor material
is papaer fiberglass resin that would become so expensive
In the picaxe 08 development board you had a flashing LED light that indicates the data being sent from computer to the board. Also what do I need to buy to make the helmet wireless ? Please help. This is my science project in engineering.
How much for one or if your not selling them can you put up the blueprints? or a how to make one
Hi,great jobs, a friend of mine is doing war machine armour,he would like to know which material did you use to do the eyes and where did you find it,thanks
Pretty awesome..although I still like What's that guys names original who did this a long time ago.
