Silly question, but was the power level on the high, medium, or low setting when you tested output with the dummy load? Any chance of measuring output on each level? Thanks for the great video

Appreciate that you like the video!
So that testing was on the High power output setting.
Making a video showing just how well they work at each power level could be insightful. Great idea!

Silly question, but is the batteries backwards compatible?

You know, that is a REALLY good question, I have never thought of that! Definitely something to check out!

Answer: Unfortunately no, they are not.

I have 3 baofeng radios, a uv5r, 5rm, and 1701. All three have different batteries, so I have 3 different chargers. My 5rm is a definite upgrade from my uv5r, the 5rm can work a local repeater where we have a weekly net, while I am at work from the employee breakroom. The uv5r I had to go outside the building to hear and transmit to the repeater.

Can you imagine all Baofengs being battery cross-compatible!

@NukaVaultReadiness back in the days of RadioShack, my 202 and 404 both used the same battery packs, I never could get my icom 02a battery pack to fit, even though the 202 was a clone of it.

I must be the only person that thinks, ergonomically, the screen should be on top, keyboard in the middle( not having to lower my grip to manipulate) and speaker on bottom.

Honestly never gave the design much thought, but I can definitely see what you are talking about.

I have the harshest critique for you: my 4 yo likes to sit in my lap and watch videos with me. He just said "this is boring. Let's watch majoras mask."
I find this content interesting, but he has to be a little critic.

NO! It is NOT excellent. It is false advertising from Baofeng. Baofeng is advertising the 5RM as 8W. On 2M at 7W that is -12.5%. On 70C at 6.4W that is -20% of what Baofeng says it is.

So from what I have understood via other posts, etc, when Baofeng advertises a power limit, that is the max Wattage output of the 2M and 70cm ranges (combined). Which I have to say makes sense, although I agree the wording is off.
Granted, your point is valid, but an HT with anything 5W, let alone closer to 8W on 2M is quite good in my book.
Much appreciated for the comment and observation!
