- Muhammad Syafie Ismail, the driver of the black Saab in the fatal Tampines accident, leaves the State Courts on S$30,000 bail.
He's accused of causing the deaths of TJC student Afifah Munirah Muhammad Azril and 57-year-old Norzihan Juwahib, and of injuring several others in the multi-vehicle collision. (Video: CNA/Eugene Goh)

Yes make it clear normal traffick accident is not the same as dangerous driving that cause accident. Should punish x10 more harshly for dangerous driving. Freaking 2 lives gone but maximum 8 years. So sick

If the law allocated so much for such an offence, we can only act by the law. Besides invoking other sections of the law, it will be tough to extend his current max jail sentence of 8 years. Surprise the fines are rather light for the results he caused over this incident😢

Because the Authorities with the backing of the Government close both eyes on errand motorists since 3rd and 4th G Leadership. So many cases as examples.
The state law need to up level to “fine” these people with compensation to:
1) the victims and their love ones,
2) public expenses on the clean up of that road accident
(those poor one, make sure they work in jail/factory, all their earnings goes into making compensation, similar to idea of people with bankruptcy).
Failing to pay the fine shall warrant them additional jail term on top of court's judgement.
