- Defence chiefs from the US and China have met face-to-face for the first time in 18 months on the sidelines of the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore. US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin held talks with his Chinese counterpart Dong Jun that lasted approximately 75 minutes. They reaffirmed a resumption of military-to-military communications in the coming months. China described the talks as "positive", but cautioned that it was not possible for both countries to solve all their problems in a single meeting. Olivia Siong reports.

The last time Ive check all of the U.S military base around the SCS was before the CPC took over China in 1949. The only military base that U.S setup after 1949 is in South Korea in 1953. The CCP ddi t have a problem back then in the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s with U.S. military base there in SCS, so why just now since 2000s?
