    • @yakhooves
      @yakhooves Před 4 dny +71

      Yep. And worse, she embarrassed herself. I'm being real when I say I only know who Taurasi is because of Clark. However, I'm assured she is the "GOAT" of the WNBA. And like it or not, if you are recognized as one of the greats or one of the legends of anything, you owe that game or that league or that field respect for elevating you to that status. You are an ambassador of the game or field. And as such, you need to be humble to begin with. Look at Wayne Gretzky. For those of us hockey fans, we know damn well why he is known as The Great One. Why 99 is retired as a player number. The man was on another plane of existence with his rink IQ. Compared to his peers, he was actually small and kinda reidy (I say that while being virtually the same size as him at 6'1" and 180 lbs, but I was a mediocre high school player, and he is a living legend, so no disrespect to the Great One). Yet whenever he is asked about today's players, he always celebrates their game, he roots for his own records to be beaten, he is a model of the true sportsman and gentleman. It's not only his game that makes him the Great One. It's who he is on and off the ice.
      With Taurasi, the *bitterness* towards an aspiring rookie talent is nothing short of disgraceful. Trying to degrade Clark's skill, dismissing her achievements, and outright being petty and spiteful towards the new talent who is electrifying a life support league, Taurasi herself allegedly wants to build up into a respectable game. But with her behavior towards Clark, her naked envy and resentfulness is so blatant and grotesque, and coming from someone who is supposedly a "great," only further tarnishes the WNBA's already unfortunate reputation. With the way the league is acting, it becomes harder and harder to justify the expense to the NBA, and I think it's pretty obvious that if it wasn't the only women's pro basketball league, it would have folded long ago. But I think as someone who has been an athlete all throughout school, and is still athletic and fit at 40, the WNBA needs a wake-up call. Because this season, and in some other well-publicized instances in prior seasons, they are not setting a good example for young female athletes. They are not being sportswoman by demonstrating the basic tenets of good sportsmanship. Instead they are sadly acting out all the worst feminine stereotypes in a way that embarasses my women friends.
      No matter what you're doing, be it sport or career in any field... being an honorable person who can follow, lead, and inspire is what sports are meant to teach. And sadly, the WNBA is failing across the board.
      I hope they learn to do better.

This is why women who hate each other will still act nice face to face - men typically don't do that and will avoid one another, or fight and then it's over. There's this myth that will never die about a female lead world being more peaceful - and yet today we have more women in leadership positions than ever before and look at the state of the world? How's the Matriarchy working out? It's not and everyone knows it. Western women are very much in need of a reality check as this entire sport is a male subsidy.

    Biggest case of Sour Grapes ever from Taurasi. She shows absolutely no class at all in being jealous, being butthurt by Clark's talent and the attention she's getting. Would not surprise me if it was Taurasi that kept Clark out of the Olympic Team. How do you NOT select someone who has changed the landscape of the WNBA and is a walking, breathing hoop machine that can change the course of a game in seconds ? Taurasi has showed a real ugly side here that you just can't forget, it's definitely damaged her image. What a dissapointing example for young girls Taurasi is.

      this is all fiction. I recommend you watch her interview clip in full. Her whole point was that people underestimate how much more difficult the WNBA is than the NCAAW. And that some folks games don't translate as well. Her conclusion was that folks are going to have to be patient. And she was absolutely correct in the case of Caitlin. She is playing well, but nowhere near as dominant as she was in college. And she was right about her style not translating immediately. Those who explode in their rookie year rely upon strength and quickness. Caitlin's game is more finesse. And she has struggled with the increased speed, size, and strength of defenders. I believe in CC, because she's smart, talented, and (most importantly) driven.
      DT is plain spoken and blunt, which isn't everyone's cup of tea. She's also in the top 3 of women to ever play hoops. Maybe even the top 1. And she was 100% correct.
