- Glass ionomer cement (GIC) is a dental restorative material used in dentistry as a filling material and luting cement. Hi Dr, i was wondering if the 3 types of classification for GIC is also applicable to Zinc polycarboxylate, (1.the luting, 2.restorative and 3.base and liner)

Its subjective. In my opinion gc excells in gic products because they have been manufacturing it from beginning. However 3m is also not bad.l, but personally feel gc does better

How about Dycal Dentin? Is it good?
Dycal is the best brand in calcium hydroxide which is used as a liner or subbase. If you want to learn more about the liner bases and varnish for pulp protection then pls do check this playlist

Thats because material evolve. New material have advantages but they do cost more.

U can use but the strength would be less. The type 2 has better strength

Thats how the material affects the property. Initially settings is slowed, final settings is rapid..

There are multiple factors which decide the life of the restoration. I am sure your dentist can advise your better.
Sir,why in xerostomia people there is poor longevity of GIC
Dry mouth causes dedication of cement restoration making it loose its Esthetic appearance
