What I wouldn't give to go back to 1985 for a weekend...
....absolute destruction...killer performances...live. No computer gimmicks. Beautiful 80s.
But Nick is nit really playing. He is pretending.
oh really?? how come you've noticed it?
Nick learned to program and trigger. The master of the what is on your drive home now.
@@andothermoves in this case, Nick was doing the keyboard version lip syncing. The “track” was playing, he was pretending. Also, live now, in 2024 Ozzy plays the guard stuff off stage, while Nick pretends. Check out Rio, Forth Worth Texas, when John’s bass in not plugged in properly. The band stops, Nick’s hands off the keyboards yet “someone” is still paying. Nick may create this stuff in the studio, but he can’t play it live.
The Bass played by John Taylor made and defined that group.
It was John's bass playing that first caught my attention and got me into listening to Duran Duran. What a group and what a time to be alive..
Let us all pray for our beloved Andy....... 🤞🏻🤞🏻 Stay STRONG Andy, you can make it!!!!!!!
Simon always gave 110% every performance..
One of Britain's all time greatest pop bands.
they're considered a rock band. I personally wouldn't put them in the pop category.
@@MarkBeckford Pop is short for popular. You can't argue with that!
They don’t make groups like Duran Duran anymore, fantastic wild boys .👀❤️💯🎵🎵🎼🎼🎼🎶
They don’t make groups (like Duran Duran) anymore ...
❤Duran Duran ,Únicos!
Who makes groups?
These guys should be in the R&R hall of fame it's long overdue. So many great albums.
They should. Overdue
You are correct, talented, influential, and deserving
No they shouldn't because they are pop not rock
Oh please, there is a fine line between rock and pop. Notorious was definitely a funk rock album. DD is still relevant, making albums of their own music for almost 40 years, still touring and have influenced many, many people. If that doesn't make them eligible, then I don't know what is a good candidate for the hall of fame. Isn't Madonna in??
Other acts like Tupac and Michael Jackson are in R&R how on earth can you exclude Duran Duran?
Love or hate them, no other band sounds anything like Duran. Totally unique pop band.
So true. Plus not many bands have had such a long career, and still going strong... I mean there are other, but at the time many people - including music critics - thought "Eh, a bunch of pretty boys making commercial hits" and would never have guessed they would still be around in 2021 :)
I'm not a fan of this band, but I can't find any reason to hate them, they sound great here, so: I think it would be impossible to hate something so cool
Don’t ever let JT hear that…. He’s punk to his brain cells
No one sounds like them. Even though they admittedly have drawn upon a number of influences, the amalgam uniquely theirs and appreciated
AGREED!
These guys were way ahead of their time musically. Their songwriting is absolutely brilliant. I agree that they should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
IDK, sounds pretty 80s... complicated and textured, but still 80s.
remember this summer day of '85 so well. it was like the entire world was involved. big events and great memories during that era. was 15 at the time. seeing this again makes me feel so old. wish I could live that day again. miss the friends of the young world and the times we shared. 🇺🇲
I was 10 years old in 1985
Me 11. Watched it whole day on tv. Unforgettable. 80s were absolutely the best.
I was the same age! What a great time that was.
Often overlooked is the respectable level of musicianship behind the good looks and trendsetting fashion style, funky beats and shallow lyrics.
Andy Taylor is a really good guitar player in his own way.
Duran Duran always has the most insane bass lines. Lol
Have you been watching JTs Stone Love Bass Instagram videos? He's been breaking down DD song by bass line. It's pretty badass.
A crazy bass line!!!
John Taylor is a tremendous bass player.
I was just listening to this song on iHeart80s on the iHeartradio app.
xavier vieira This song rocks. It’s way better than the music that’s being put out by Ed Sheeran, Ariana grande, taylor Swift, John legend, and Billie eilish.
I've always been a metalhead but DD was a band I really liked that I couldn't admit out loud. I'm old now so I'll say it unapologetically now.
Same here I didn't tell anyone either but secretly I played DD when I was alone then right after that I played motley crue Haha
@Smatchet same here Motley crue fan to the fullest, but I do like Duran Duran etc....too
Ha ha my husband is a metal head too and I have him listening to Duran Duran, I even managed to get him to come and a Duran Duran cover at the Glasgow Ferry 😁🎵🎤
I'm a duranie but I've always listened to Metallica andany others 😊
Crazy you say that, because it done the same to me.
I was 15 years old, I watched live aid all day long waiting for Duran Duran! It was worth it! I also got to see so many other amazing performances including U2 and Queen! What a time to be alive and what an amazing time for music! I'm so lucky to have experienced the 80's and 90's!
playing for free...all proceeds to charity : we NEED ANOTHER LIVE AID TO HELP SAVE THIS WORLD
So true!
GET WELL ANDY - praying for you! Sending love to the band and all Duranies!!! ❤ 🤗 ❤
Wow, John Taylor's bass really was a driving force to Duran Duran, accompanied by Nick's soaring magical keyboard notes. Of course Andy and Roger were awesome in their own right, but that bass! What would their songs be without that bass?!
I like how Andy added that cool funky guitar line as the songs ends .
It’s a bass mounster
Songs with a different bass line.
Without his bass it’s Arcadia. Lol
Roger and Andy are really underrated, watch the "As the lights go down." Performances, and concentrate on them, you"ll see or hear what I mean.
John Taylor the coolest guy in the band, also the coolest mullet in the entire world
It was a bi level haircut. The term mullet did not come out until the 90s.
Nothing about his ‘do that says “business in front”...
He seems like a super super nice man and I was recently watching him on CZcams while Susanne Hopper from The Bangles was singing eternal flame. I was about in tears but she still has this gorgeous voice and still beautiful as ever on the inside and out. John Taylor was fabulous during the whole conversation and the song. he's one person I would really like to meet and I think that Queen and Duran Duran put on the bus show for Live Aid that day.
I saw Duran Duran in concert in Roanoke Virginia in February 1984 and it was incredible and far better than the Van Halen concert the month before.
Did he go and play with Powerstation?
I think he took his mullet with him.
have you seen John Taylors videos on Facebook? He streams live every week : facebook.com/8744372732/videos/295381491664876/?__so__=channel_tab&__rv__=all_videos_card
If time goes back I would attend this concert the whole day to see all 80's artists perform
Yeah, me too!
Saw this historic concert on local TV the day it aired. Still the greatest concert of all time for my money and I am 50!
I would too! I saw a few, but I would of loved to of seen more! I did see Duran Duran in 1987, though! And then again this year! They are my fave band to see live!!!
@@philaman1972 Same here, i remember it but i was 14 at the time, didn't really appreciate that i was watching something amazing that would never ever happen again, my Dad recorded almost all of it on VHS tape, now sadly gone.
Yo también!!!!!!!
This live goes down in human history.
Thanks John Taylor for great and amazing bass.
The shit Nick does on this Song is just amazing! 👍 Song is still fresh 40 years on! 👍
I'm high school class of 1988... Duran Duran was the coolest band of them all... every kid wished they were them.
I need time machine... High school... '88, yeees ... I remember this one czcams.com/video/e-dxAxfkmvk/video.html
I was HS class of 87 and you're 100% right! Look at Nick's hair!
I was there that day and it was incredible.
Totally agree.
Let's travel back to 1985.
I was 2nd year high school boy who trained Taekwondo listening to this song ,Rio and New moon on Moday every time I stayed at home.
At that time I was full of vitality because those song made me fulfil youth and dream.
I've never thought about 50s like me in 21st century. I'm So missing myself of teenager.
We just saw Duran Duran at the Hollywood Bowl for their final show of FUTURE PAST and they freaking blew "The Reflex" (and everything else) out of the water. Simon sounded just like he did on the album. I know Live Aid had numerous technical difficulties that prevented artists from performing at their peak, but Duran Duran has still got it! They sounded better now than in 1985!
Just saw them a week or so ago and I was amazed!!! At how great they still sound❤❤❤
One of the best bass lines ever, and I mean ever.... One word.....
RIO ... !!!
Nah, CRY BABY CRY is better. RIO was good, and difficult. CRY BABY CRY is more funky, and difficult in my personal opinion.
Girls on Film bass line is no slouch.
@@spaztekwarrior John Taylor once said the band somehow hated to play "Hold back the rain" live because in his opinion (his own words) "the song is a b*tch" - In the 80ies he used to play the verses with his fingers and had to produce a pick just in time for the chorus. (Nowadays Duran Duran somehow re-discovered the song - and he playes the whole song with a pick).
I watched a video of the isolated bass multitrack a few years ago and my world was forever changed. INSANE.
Simon has to be one of the most confident front men, but I love Nick and his intelligence
Nick Rhodes is a genius. This gentleman, cEvin Key, and Rhys Fulber are the best.
I just never realized how good Duran Duran was when I was listening to a lot of metal and prog rock when they were around. I knew a couple of their songs that I liked - but this concert is amazing.
Good lord !!! John Taylor was and still is beautiful 😍😍😍😍
John Taylor is great!
Yep...I saw him and Andy with the Power Station. Great.
We saw Duran Duran in Los Angeles in the 80’s and we just flew to Red Rocks to see them again last month you are right Taylor on the bass was great they were all great wow
John Taylor killin it with the Kubicki Ex Factor bass. Sounds so nice through headphones, you'll get more of an appreciation for that awesome sound.
His bass carries that band. They’re all great but his bass lines are remarkable
God, I miss the 80's!!!!! Incredible music and NO cell phones to numb our brains. We "lived in the moment"!!!!
...and weekly music magazines that printed the lyrics which we would study religiously (instead of doing our homework)... posters on our walls that the sun would fade over time... the excitement of counting down the days till you went to the record store, and that moment of pure joy when you held the record in your hands... I feel genuinely sorry for the kids today, they will never experience any of that
@@mgparis - AMEN!!!!!
Top notch band : playing free with other groups for the common good...Simon Le Bon great front man!
37 years late, Duran Duran still rock
Ah, Live Aid. I was glued to TV all day and most of the night. Remember this fondly. ❤
Lord God, I remember watching this way back then, has 35 years really passed? Damn, I'm old. Was only 18 when this concert took place.
I was nineteen that summer.
@@annieskywalker6405 Actually I didn't have it "good" in 1985. That was one of the my most difficult years. But I survived everything and I am still here! 😀
Isn’t that bizarre
Had just hit 20 & in the heart of the 80's.
JT like a freight train. Such a hugely underrated bass player.
literally underrated
Nah, everyone knows how much of a badass JT is
Sometimes I forget how funky these mofos were. This is such a great performance. The synths were turned ON too!
Live Aid was a historic music event. I am so glad I was able to watch "LIVE" as it happened.
I got my dad to tape Duran Duran and Madonna as they were on during the middle of the night in England (I was only 11) I was a bit alarmed at their dark hair at the time and didn't recognise them!
Same here.
Best single concert in the history of music. Bar none.
Rose Petal Oh I envy you. I was 11 years old living in Korea. I watched the whole thing on TV.
It was because they were doing The Power station and Arcadia, but I know what you mean!
I feel so privileged to be a child of the seventies and still be able to remember that day ❤️❤️❤️
Duran Duran had a really unique pop sound. I put them with Depeche Mode, The Cure and The Smiths as far as writing numerous great songs.
I remember hearing this on the radio in Chicago with a friend who died on his motorcycle a month later. I’ll never forget your band and the 80s
Best British Band fron 80's Era Duran Duran. Most popular British Band they are next to Beatles fron their popularity.
I remember this very well. Just 24 hour before Simon and Nick were shooting the video for elrctionday for the Arcadia album. Clothes and hairstyle from Nick says actually everything...They were asked for this gig and with no rehearsel or anything they blowed it away! Very good like always!
Yes exactly
Duran Duran at their best with all the original band members!!!
Anyone notice that none of them are wearing hearing protection? For anyone who knows the bands history, this concert was put together at the last minute, that is, not playing together for a year, flying in and having little time to practice. The feedback ..high squeal noises.... happened in many stadiums with performers. With that large of a crowd, it would knock anyone off key. I think considering the circumstances, this was a great concert. They may have felt more at home at wembley stadium, but they were a young band, touring constantly, 3 albums, and the stress shows. John had a drug problem, Andy partied, and Roger quit shortly after this concert. It was an honor just to play. Here we are, 33 years later, .....who is still making new music, alive, from live aid? I watched live, and I didn’t care. I was home, but those who 💩 on Duran Duran because of this, or define them because of this? You don’t know Duran Duran.
They have very particular harmonies. Without practice they'd be quite hard to return to against the instruments' stacked up notes.
Agreed indeed. Simon and Nick never left the band, they kept at it, and Roger and Nigel/John came back 2005 Astronaut CD, and their last stuff is very good "Pressure Off''..decent video, and Simon's what now, 60? he still pulls girlies. Duran Duran made my arm..only a select kind of band makes my tattoo'd arm. THEND.
As a bass player of 30 years I gotta say these guys are top notch musicians bottom line.
@@anakinwildstar8759 Yeah, Simon turned 60 this past October and has been happily married to Yasmin for more than 30 years and they have three daughters.
Absolutely agree with you. Duran Duran is my favorite 80s band, see them 10 years ago in Lima, Peru and it was an extraordinary show with the complete band (except for Andy). Two more things, I love the bass line on this song and Roger (a great drummer btw) is married with a peruvian lady since 2007.
Hope they be in the Rock and Roll wall of Fame in 2022.
Finally! On their way to the R&R Hall of Fame were they belong!! I met them back in 2008, really really nice guys.
Thank you for the dream John Taylor
Simon and John still do that little forehead touch when they perform today. The love between them is so wonderful to see.
Beautiful song and they still handsome
If you grew up in the early 80s and were a product of the 80s. DD was in your home on mtv every day. They were gods of the 80s
I hope we can gather in a crowd like this again.
I was there and I couldn’t wait for Duran Duran to come onstage. I remember it being so hot that day but I loved every minute of it
Lucky
Love Duran Duran and John Taylor is one of the greatest bassists of all time! Duran Duran had one of the greatest rhythm sections with him on bass and Roger Taylor on drums. You can really hear it here in this live performance.
Don't forget about Nick.
His sound effects are so crucial in this song.
For example the album's recording for this song/video has the part with those "Deep Yeahs."
I think those are part synth and part his voice, doing backup vocals, if I'm not mistaken.
@@resa.walters Nick Rhodes is a great keyboardist! They all were great musicians in Duran Duran!
John Taylor. Brilliant!
John Taylor is Pure Genius
He’s so professional
The reflex song is brilliant too.
Their music still makes me feel like getting up and dancing!!
I see a little bit of Elvis's face in Simon. Anyone else see it too? 💌Duran Duran. I wish I had been there at this concert.
The Reflex became one of my favorite songs from first hear! Peace!
I watched Live Aid at home with my little daughter & my infant, newly born daughter. 17 months later, had another daughter. Those last 2 daughters of ours grew up and STILL go see Duran Duran when they come around. Explains everything!
I love Simon Le Bon's black hair! Brings out his blue eyes!! 😍
Brenda Echols
I reckon that's the eyeliner.
@@samanthalewin4397 Hey!.....Agree, the eyeliner ,mascara,, eyeshadow, plus he has brown eyes.....
@@willomina1990 On what planet does Simon Le Bon have brown eyes???? :O
I was 14 years old when this incredibly wonderful benefit concert had aired. Me and some members of my family were all glued to the TV. It was and will always be a very beautiful place in my heart and soul. The 80s were so freakin amazing. This band's performance was not one to miss.
After 37 yrs I saw tis again..really insane luv u DD simon, john, nick andy roger..goshh
this era was fucking dope in the music scene!
This was my Favorite Group in the 80's .My family's still tease me about my obsession over Duran Duran back than.
Joann Johnson My family tease me about my obsession of Duran Duran now, I'm 15 and my mum's glad, but I get a lot of hate off of my siblings and friends.
Cannot have a Duran Duran concert without the reflex. What a classic rock song
Nick and Andy arm in arm at the end.
There is always hope!
I know, but I hope there will be again a reunion.
80s BANDS MUSIC IS FOREVER!!!
They were my favorite band then, and still my favorite today. I never got a chance to see them in concert though. They deserve their place in the R&R Hall of Fame.
I love this song for the diversity of the music. It suits so well on Simon's voice.
I know, me too! My fav song of DD!
John is one of the best bassist ever .They were despised at the time but they were and still are great musicians .Talented .
Andy Taylor, what a legend! My first job in Ibiza was cleaning his house , lovely guy
John Taylor is a very handsome guy....this time and now
John Taylor was a pretty man before Johnny Depp
comatoo - So true!!!
John Taylor's face score 9,17 measured by golden ratio and facial features, higher than johnny depp, brad pitt, robert pattinson, david beckham, ian somerhalder and all of duran's members
He has lovely bone structure and eyes.
One piece Fortest Omg girl, how do you know this?? LOL
The whole performance in itself wasn't so bad, but it was obvious that they couldn't stand each other any more and the band was...broken...Maybe that was a necessary step to have them now in their maximum shape. Long Life to Duran Duran. God save the Kings ❤️❤️❤️
Increíble la diferencia de la música de antes con la actual. Sin tantos arreglos y adornos. Simplemente perfecto y precioso.
They were one of the premier bands of the 2nd British Invasion. I think some people don't know, or have forgotten, just how enormously popular these guys were in the 80s. I was 29 when I saw LiveAid on MTV, with a couple of friends, some beer, and a hand full of joints. I miss my MTV, and my damn youth for that matter. 😁
back in the 80s, all my schoolmates listened to metal bands at that time. I didn't really give a damn. And although I felt their looks and their judgment towards me for listening to Duran Duran and on top of that, having my folder full of photos of the band. I appreciate having the courage to enjoy it at a time when being just a little bit different was reason enough to be bullied.
They had the Number One song in America the night of this performance.
Although I continue to listen to and admire their albums and follow their entire career to this day, a large part of me feels that this was "the last Duran Duran concert".
When I was 12 I was supposed to marry John Taylor...still waiting 35 years later
GOOD ONE! 😂🤣
Jaja me too
Me too!!!!!!!
When I was that age I was supposed to marry Madonna, but thank God that did not happen...
Me too....JT has aged well,
What a bass! Uncomparable!!!
They pulled this off amazing
I remember watching this and thinking how great it was that you could finally hear Andy Taylor’s guitar in the mix. Of course, this was the last appearance of the original lineup (for a long long time)
I think Nick is an amazing non technical keyboard player.Underrated... Very inventive.. All taste..all style and great parts and sounds. For a guy who isn't a "Player" per se..He's written hits/ recorded some incredible music. Tiger Tiger etc
i remember staying up all night recording LIVE AID on a betamax player when i was much younger.
Hungry like the wolf was the number 2 song in the 1980s. Number one was living on a prayer.
So good to see Andy here ❤!
Reflex got me into Duran in 84 aged 13
'The reflex' is a description of elements of the AUTOMATIC systems of the Divine machine. Duran Duran also served GOD. Everything does.
id give anything to be at this concert but this happend 23 years before i was born 🥲 i just love them so much though
The bass is on point
Tiempos gloriosos!
I L💓VE SIMON LE BON !😘🎵
I L💓VE DURAN DURAN! 😘🎵
Que regresen los 80's!!!!! 👏👏👏
Si:(
Love you john taylor😍
Wow, this was my generation.....Life was so care free. The music was energetic, imaginative and magical. My have times completely changed for this generation today.
This was Arcadia and the Power Station coming together again for one last time . Thanks for the memories!
Another milestone in pop culture history. Live Aid! As Grace Slick put it..."Your generation's (my generation) Woodstock "
They were massive back then .. One of the major acts that night
My 11 birthday!!!! Got to watch this😍
Performance number one all time
Love to look at Nick when he is so focused.... 😄😍
