Neil sedaka and Tony Christie...Talent overload! They both got the inimitable God-given voice that separates 90% of singers today (who rely on synthesizers, electronics to sound decent) from the 10% with pure vocals of great range. Kudos!

Heard this in the car yesterday, on a community radio station - what a way to brighten up a dirgey morning commute. Then had to look up who it was who sounded as though he had written this song that I always knew as being 'by' Tony Christie - and it was Neil Sedaka, whose work I already knew! Such an infectiously joyful feel; he sounds so proud to have written this song and how smooth is that piano change into Tony's key?! Stoked to have found the exact recording on CZcams 😊

Saw him at Southport Theater in the early 90s. He was a pot bellied middle aged man back then but he still seems to be going strong. He's just a consummate musical pro who revels in his art. My whole dysfunctional family went and had a great time, one of the few things we could agree on. He looks so alive and healthy here. Great video.

Great show, wish I'd seen it live first hand. Neil Sedaka, and this is not a disparaging comment at all, looks like a dentist I'd trust totally and completely. One who's a brilliant local anaesthetist and proceeds to be brilliant at the ensuing work. Totally pain free. Free of discomfort even. Back to the music - Neil digs underneath Christie's lead with careful and accurate harmonies. Effortless.

I was in Fifth or sixth grade when this song came out. The chamber of commerce of Amarillo came out with a four color brochure with a copy of this on a REAL double sided 45 in a slot in the back of it.
I love the song and it is a signature song for Amarillo. More appropriate than Amarillo By Morning. I like it, too, but I like this MUCH more.
I was in the Caribbean when this song 1977 came up on the radio...
