I once tried singing one of his songs during karaoke night and failed miserably. I thought I'd be alright because there weren't any super high notes, but his delivery is what makes his songs. His tone, his riffs, seamless key changes, and his intuitive musicality that I definitely didn't have. Many people can sing a song, but only masters can create magic.

Several days ago, I finished listening to Stevie's entire songbook on Spotify. As a radio DJ with 25 years of experience playing any music genre under the sun, I can safely say that he is a songwriting giant. I am very picky in my selections, but I managed to archive 237 of his songs. His melodic and harmonic inventiveness is awe-inspiring, and his use of modulation is the best in the business.
I was captivated the very first time I heard Stevie Wonder's voice at seven years old and now 43 years later I'm still in love with it.
I got so anxious when he passed the phone over and Stevie's finger was so close ending the call hahaha.

pat c Did you know he wasn't born blind? A mistake at the hospital days after he was born caused it. For that he should've already been rich but possibly his blindness enhanced his skills/talents & he's phenomenal!

actually Stevie was born six weeks premature and had underdeveloped blood vessels in the back of his eyes caused his retinas to detach. The oxygen pumped into his incubator exacerbated the condition, leaving the tiny baby permanently blind.
A voice like no other. I met him twice at a booth I was working in LA NAMM Show. The electricity around him was incredible and the 8ft 7 bodyguards made sure no one did anything silly.

Almost by accident, I got to see Stevie's "In Square Circle" concert at the Forum in LA in '85. Not only was the music mind-blowing, but his sense of humor and engagement with the audience made it a night I'll never forget. We must protect Stevie at all costs.

You should look up the outtakes of "we are the world" at one time everybody launched into the "Banana boat song" in which they talked about having to work all night to finish the song up. Stevie then makes a joke about everybody being too exhausted so he and Ray Charles were the only ones fit enough to drive them all home.

Stevie Wonder is one of the greatest musicians of all time and a living legend. He still sings just as good as he was in his 20s back in the 1970s. He has so many timeless classics. Having been fortunate enough to see him in concert twice, his voice absolutely is still incredible. What I learned the most from watching him in concert was just how damn funny the man is, and how fun he is and how just incredibly entertaining he is.
