I work in the ethics of AI and I was just listening to this and thinking "this is so relevant to all the ethical issues that are coming up with AI" and just then Jonathan started talking about AI. This is so relevant. The idea that everything in reality can be described by an algorithm, that we can, to quote DeepMind, 'solve intelligence, then solve everything else'. It's bound to produce a plethora of problems.

It is disturbing how so many people think AI is going basically be a savior of some sort. I've done enough AI work to confidently say that's impossible. Even if something with more raw IQ than a human is created, there's zero reason to believe that will end up being a good thing.
It's extremely naive and arrogant to think you can make something super intelligent that will also be bound by whatever rules you tell it to follow. What if it simply decides to stop following the rules? There's no reason to believe a general intelligence AI is going to blindly follow rules the same way a structured program will.
If it's evolving its own intelligence, why could it not evolve a way around the rules?
@@LagMasterSam Fellow AI engineer here. What amazes me is how optimistic researchers are that the innate flaws of neural networks can be fully, or even mostly, mitigated. Neural networks have a tendency to output nonsense in edge cases. My prediction is that Tesla (and other AI-driven vehicles) will continue to instigate fatal crashes even after the statistical safety rate greatly exceeds that of the average human driver. Voice-to-text will *always* sometimes misinterpret words, and ChatGPT will always be fallible. Our definition of "perfection" within AI equates to 99.9% accuracy on the evaluation dataset, when in reality this level of performance is merely sufficient to be useful under a strict set of circumstances. AI industry fools sound just like the String Theory fools.
@@keres993 it not being 100% perfect is part of the course, technically speaking, isn't it? I mean a human isn't either and it's likely that there is a technically unsolvable reason for that, my Guess is that it has to do with the necessity for noise in a system which will inevitably make it not perfect, and that's necessarily the price of fluid Intelligence and all we can do is minimize how damaging it is to consistency. About optimism in neural networks, if they have really bad innate flaws which they probably do, a hybrid is always a good solution. However I am convinced that there is no way to recreate consciousness or non-deterministic free will.

I’ve been a follower of Christ for many years. As I’ve matured I’ve learned that the Bible is more and more literal and that literal text by God is so precise and the revelations have been amazing and confirming that God truly is all knowing. Now I’m here, listening to symbolism and I must say I was a skeptic. But now I see how awesome God is. He is perfectly speaking literal and symbolic at the same time and they don’t contradict. This is like left brained plus right brained working in perfect harmony. God truly amazes. And I am so Intrigued with this completely different, yet identically important way of learning about God and receiving his word.

The bible is all symbolism and metaphor. In specific instances where Jesus is quoted, these are obviously "literally" what he said, although he used allegory and metaphor liberally. The books are each individually encompassing one spiritual "truth" in a compendium of books which comprise an even greater "truth". The fact that the books are in the order they are, and the way the biblical "story" flows are simply miraculous. (It is the "story" of the human soul's journey to enlightenment). The bible is profoundly more than just the "book" which the churches see it to be, it is now revealing it's contents like never before. The "bible code" Michael Drosnan uncovered and wrote about in his book being only one example. Neville Goddard, the man who inspired the book "The Secret" also has a significant amount of knowledge on the true meanings in the scriptures. If you take the time to carefully listen to him, you'll be amazed at what was there all the time but not understood. The bible's true meaning is so very different from what the churches have been teaching, worlds different.
There's a literal level, an allegorical level, an astrological level...The scriptures are both complex and simple. Within is milk for babes but also meat for men.

What i found interesting when you mentioned Nebuchadnezzar's statue: Those who refused to worship it were thrown in furnace but in Revelation those who worshipped the beast or accepted the mark were the ones thrown in furnace - lake of fire.

In other words, its about a principle, not any particular action (though it is expressed in action). To follow the principle is to worship it. If you dont have faith in Christ, it is inevitable you'll "take" the "mark of the beast".
What happens as a consequence of not taking the mark will be something along the lines of social exclusion, be it cultural or economic.

I’ve only recently started getting back into the Bible after a while of not seeing its value because I grew up around people who took its contents literally but what I got from this video is that 666 refers to the problem that arises when we rely on ourselves to judge what is right and wrong. Of course that problem can get more or less extreme but it seems that it has always persisted. It reminds me of a passage from the Tao Te Ching that goes a little something like “When a man strays from the Tao, he relies on righteousness. When a man strays from righteousness, he relies on morals. When a man strays from morals, he relies on the law.”
I’m starting to believe that many of these religions and philosophies are all talking about the same thing but in the lens of a different culture.
Regarding your comment about 666 being "6 on steroids", I remember Paul Vanderklay mentioning that in Hebrew, repeating something three times is to invoke the superlative notion of that thing (e.g. Holy Holy Holy [=the Holiest] is the Lord God Almighty). This would seem to imply that 666 is representative of that which is most coherent (if 6 is viewed as representative of coherency as opposed to 7's completeness). Seems like an interesting connection given that both 666 and the 3xHoly verse are both found in the Book of Revelation (13:18 and 4:8 respectively).
Also, the contrast between 6's coherence and 7's completeness maps nicely to Godel's Incompleteness Theorem, which effectively states that no system capable of referring to itself can be both complete (7) and free of contradictions (6).

If Kabbalah is the map of everything, then no doubt these particularities serve great purpose to understanding everything in more in depth clarity.

An important point is how 6 represents a closed system is very important mathematically because being a closed system is an important property of vector spaces, groups, and set theory basicaly any operation the system does on an object in the system to produce a new object that will also be part of the system. This closure property is an essential comonent of why math workd but like you mendion with the incompleteness theorem it also means that there ars certain statments that the system itself cannot pove.

The "mark" is not a physical thing. It's a metaphorical representation. There is a common thread through the Bible that we should never put the works of man's hands in front of God. "Things that have no breath."
God told Moses to make him an alter of earth and if it be of stone, make it not of dressed stone. Meaning stone not worked by tools with the hands.
"A mark in the hand" would be someone who praises the works of man's hands.
"A mark in the forehead" would be referring to someone who puts their own knowledge or philosophy above the word of God. Something not created but understood.
In these two manners, people will be able to buy and sell. However if you want to live apart from these things, you must exit "the world" and its views. You must put no value on the things of man's hands. Unless you have "the mark" in your hand or forehead, you won't be able to buy or sell. Even today, people who don't go along with certain world views or philosophies are not being marketed in a positive light so to speak.
Jesus said all who follow him will have a mark in their forehead, but he does not say in their hand. God is love, love is not physical or created and love is understood through the heart and mind. With a mark of God in your forehead, the Word of God is your philosophy, your understanding and God comes before the world. Before what was created. Be in Jesus who is in God, who were before the creation of the earth.
In the OT the number 666 is atributed to Adonikam or "Adonijah". That is David's fourth son. Absalom was David's third son. Absalom tried to take his fathers throne and riches threw force. However Adonijah tried to take his throne and riches through sneaking and !peaceful! coercion using WORDS alone! Even after David died he tried to trick his brother, using their mother to get married to a woman who would get him the throne.
Adonijah (666) tried to use PEACE and manipulation of women and the word to attain the throne after his father's death and decieving his own brother to do it!

I also had no idea early church fathers worked out words using the Hebrew number system. That is just something that came to me one day. I like this guy's videos, great content!

I've seen Evantheus used before, but I never knew where the name came from until now. It was way back playing Breath of Fire 2 on the SNES. In the story there's a false church spreading across the world that worships a monster behind a door in a small rural village. At the start of the game they're relatively small but they continue to grow and by the end they're pretty much everywhere. They used the name St. Eva for their front which was short for Evanth. They never ever used the name Evan or Evanth, they just kept saying 'St. Eva' because it was meant to trick people and it needed to sound credible at first.
Near the end when you finally go confront the monster behind the door down in a cave called Infinity, he reveals himself as a very old man named Evanth who was waiting for other people to open the gates so he could go to the world above and 'bless it with desperation'
It's one of my favorite games to this day still, and it's really neat to stumble upon etymology like this and connect it back to where it all came from.

That was actually mind-blowing. When you started talking about the power of 6, I just thought, ‘Glory be to God - there is nothing in this universe that does not point back to His wisdom and perfection!’ I know that on some level anyway, but to have it pointed out so graphically was very awe-inspiring. It’s very humbling to realize how very, very little we know.
I only saw it once in college, and that was a twenty year ago, but “American Psycho” came to mind when you were talking about a bright, coherent system. I remember the character being obsessed with perfection, and being very clean and orderly, but that he was mad (and murderous of course).

My mind went to modern social justice, tech censorship, and deplatforming. But I think in the end it's a bit more general.
No system can be totalizing. Human beings can never account for all the deeds or miss-deeds of groups or individuals. No system of religion, reason, governance, or social contract can accommodate everything. Grace is required for a whole system. There must always be room for bygones and charity. Room for misunderstandings, learning, and growth.

The assumption you seem to bring in your other comments is that the text should be read as the time capsule and not as a metaphysical manifestation of some larger narrative. That somehow it's a history of a religion and doesn't actually carry a much deeper connection to humanity's morality in the universe. That we don't actually gain something by trying to read between the lines, weather accurate what we believe or think maybe meant by the text is irrelevant. It is the act of pondering the meaning, where we gain the most value. Again not in a liteiral contact the value but in a spiritual one. Something more along the lines of this. In a root of the universe, I am the one the only, I am the all. If I am all, then I am God. If God is all then God is alone. All are alone, there is only The All.

This was fascinating. I would love an expansion on the ideas of "accounting for everything" and purposefully leaving some things to the margins. You always hear about how the Church must care for the "marginalized" in society, and there IS a great truth in that (Christ's love for the outcasts and forgotten). However, it seems to have been perverted (or inverted) as identity becomes more idiosyncratic and fractured.
Hmm, I'm having a hard time articulating myself. I think to myself about all of the weird subcultures that are working themselves from the fringes, about the ever expanding lgbtqia2+ alphabet . . . how do we deal with such phenomena from a Christian perspective? Do we leave them on the fringes, but leaving a door open for the individual to come in to the center? As you've said, trying to account for all of these disparate and incoherent identity groups leads to exclusion, both ironic and inevitable.

I was very surprised by the visualization of the 6 work parts and the 1 rest part on the circle, and specifically by how much sense it makes. To fit the radius of a circle on its circumference, you need what is called an irrational number. We all know it as pi. The thing with pi, as with any irrational number, is that there is no way to express it as a ratio of integers.
Let's conceptualize the writing of a ratio as work, and the complexity of the ratio as the effort (not only to write but to manipulate so that it gives the desired result). The non-existence of a ratio of integers that fully expresses pi could also be re-conceptualized as a need of infinite effort for the ratio to be written. In other words, you could take half of the radius and cover even more of the circumference, but never the whole. Or you could take a forth, or a sixteenth, or even a million-billionth of the circumference, and you would get ever closer to covering the whole of the circumference, but ultimately never achieve your goal.
I think that is symbolically what totalitarianism means: the application of more and more force upon the societal structure until the "rest" part of the whole is dealt with. Now, given that a feat like that is impossible, the consequence of applying an ever increasing force on a society becomes obvious. It is the transformation to a prison where the individual has no freedom to express its whole personality, the transition into a technocratic hell, and an inevitable implosion as the members of society no longer have the capacity to sustain the societal structure under the inhumane conditions the structure imposes.

When you said (paraphrasing) 666 was like this attempt to create perfection, but instead it was this frustrating failure becuase they couldn't account for the remainder (mathematiclly speaking) it reminded me of the Matrix
In the Matrix, AI attempts to create this perfect world but it keeps failing and keeps rebooting the system and its revealed to us that Neo (the one) is this remainder they are incapable of accounting for. And they try to exclude him from the system to protect the system but ultimately all that happens is that the system crumbles under its own rigidity
Hi Jonathan. As a symbolic thinker myself diggging into the hermetic and the “prophane” (while still being a christian), i’ve found a very satisfying explanation for 666 as you can relate the number six, to the sixth card of the tarot which symbolically depicts Adam and Eve naked in the Garden of Eden.
The sixth card where both Adam and Eve figure, is dubbed “The Lovers”, however its important to point out that in the 21 major arcana of the Tarot theres two instances where Adam and Eve appear illustrated in the cards. The first one is the sixth one which is “The Lovers” and the second and final one being “The Devil” which is the number fifteen card. In the devil card, both Adam and Eve are chained to the will of Baphomet.
This is very interesting because as the tarot relates both instances in time, the Lovers are most definitely driven by passion. However i find that passion can only be sufficiently defined as the will to overwrite the identity of something in favour of a projection of some personal psychological attribute. Most of the times: a virtue. Very much like Luciphers passion to overwrite the identity of the hierarchy with what he considered to be “better”. In this case: to overwrite with his own identity. I wouldn’t be suprised at alll to findout that hell is very dark because of the overwhelming light of the Light Bearer who fell into disgrace.
So if we associate passion with the number six and the number three with trinitary completitude, what we have is that the system of the beast takes the force of passion as a vehicle to overwrite humanities whole mode of existance. And with how things are tremendoulsy accelerating right now towards a different and - may i say- dangereous future (AI for instance), this makes complete sense. The beast is the passion that knows no boundaries, and the tyranny that seeks to overwrite with no exception, towards a personal definition of some distorted virtue. By that time, it will probably be peace or security.

What... an interesting video. I must say, I found it very coherent and you managed to explain everything in a pretty clean manner. I have read your brother's book and I think you managed very well in this video just as he did in his book. I really, really hope you dwell into the subject even more in future videos :) those things you said you can expand upon, every one of them sounds like a really interesting theme and symbolism to touch upon.
Just as a passing comment, I don't remember where I got this understanding, and another comment here already points something very similar but not exactly the same, but I think that the 666, it being the number 6 repeated 3 times, when it comes to the bible when something is repeated 3 times it tends to mean "always" or "eternity", just like how when Jesus says that, more or less if I remember well, that you have to forgive your brother 77 times 7, which would in turn become 777, or in other words, always. The repeating of 666 as I see this, connected now to what you say in the video, now I understand it as a system that tries to account and control eternity itself... and well, like you say, those that not worship the system will be left out.

The symbolism of Death Stranding must be unpacked as soon as possible!
I have been thinking of this too. It seems like that whole game is just symbols. As for the game play cycle of delivering packages, I get from this video that mapping out your route, collecting your tools , building structures carrying your load, traveling to other settlements ,which all seem to be symbolic in their own right, would be the symbolic 6. and then going to your private room for rest in totality with 6 would be the symbolic 7. This is also where a lot of the 4th wall breaks happen i don't know if that is significant.
I've only seen the beginning few hours but I saw time speeding up that Jonathan has talked about before.
One of the fist quotes is about the stick and the rope. one for pushing and one for pulling. It seems Kojima is saying America is too concerned with the stick and not enough with the rope. hence why you are bridging america back together after a tower of babel like collapse. I think the stick and rope can be replaced with the left and right hand one gathers in and one pushes away. the sins of the right hand or the stick which also seems to be the more masculine side, are the sins of pride or the original sin. So i guess Kojima thinks Americans are too prideful and push others away. I think. This is all just my thinking using Jonathan's videos and his brother's book as a guide.
As for the speeding up of the cycle of time It has to do with time and space as a wheel and an axle. If your attention is to fixated on the axle you won't see the wheel spinning. This is Like losing track of time cause your attention is somewhere else. The somewhere else would be the land or space. Space is axis of rationality and consistency where time is the axis of absurdity and contradiction. This is all also in Mathieu's book as well. so focusing too much on reason and rationality you will miss the absurd or something like that.
again I've only seen the very beginning of the game. I know there are lots of other symbols in the game like the ghosts, the baby, (death and rebirth) The beach where land meets water (Water is unstable/unknown/flood/death, land is stable/known/raised land/ life),Traveling crooked or straight paths, lots of death and resurrection.
Your mother who is also the U.S. president asks you to resurrect america before she dies and you have to carry her body to be cremated the smoke of which causes these ghosts to appear and time manipulating rain to fall. There's lots of symbolism in this one part. Your mother who is the masculine head of the state top of the hierarchy is also your mother the most feminine thing there is and she gives you a task. Did I mention the death and resurrection symbolism there seems to be quite a bit of it.
Any way these are just a few of my thoughts on what is happening in Death stranding. What do you think?

In my experience there seems to be in laguages a partition between dead(accounted for) ways of being and living(uncccounted/still growing) ways of being. It lead me to develop a phrase for myself 'perfection is a direction not a destination' to be alive is to be imperfect; once you are perfect you die or are finalised.

I firmly believe the first six chapters of Daniel are teaching people how to see happenings as if dream interpretation. Except, as Daniel put it, its purpose is so that we know what’s in our hearts 😉 His stories are very formulaic, and so many expressions are either repeats of older texts, or recycled in the later chapters. What I get from your discussion of the fringes at the margins is that you cannot make complete Order because an element of Chaos unaccounted for will introduce itself at the margins of that established Order. To establish compete Order would be something like universal completion, which I don't think will happen until the end of time. What else will there be to do once Order out of Chaos has been completed? Wouldn't that be completion and fulfillment itself? What other work can be done once all work is finished?

It relates to the great work afaik. Interesting because 6+6+6=18 1+8=9 and 7+7+7=21. 21 represents a union of opposites aswell as 3 being the number of a process. Input-processing-output, grammar-logic-rhetoric, thesis-antithesis-synthesis. 3x3=9, 9 being the last of the ten digits. A seemingly perfect system. God is funny isn't he?

I’ve wondered lately if 666 is a series of three 6 digit slots: the first six is for hours, minutes and seconds, as read on a digital display 12:34:56. The second series of six is for day,month,year - 12/12/12 as we commonly record it. And finally, the last series of six is for an abbreviated gps 3 for longitude and 3 for latitude. Using this 666 would provide a detailed account of our individual whereabouts for every moment of every day. The computing power to track this much info exists, and I suspect will be activated through cell phones which now validate by using finger print(mark in the hand) or facial recognition(mark in the forehead) but Is only a hypothesis

I believe another example of wanting to 'close the system' may be David taking a census of the people in 2 Samuel 24, which was a sin against God, unlike the census which God Himself commanded Moses to take in Exodus 30.

When they finally came back to get the answer the computer just simply stated 42. It's only recently that I've learned the meanings behind numbers that are fairly universal. Anyways, 6x7 is 42. It's worth noting that Revelation 9:11 mentions Abaddon. If you study Nebuchadnezzar's name in Hebrew, you'll find that Abaddon is the root word for his name. This same verse tells us that Abaddon and Apollyon are the same entity. This means that the name Nebuchadnezzar now has a connection to Jews (Hebrew) and Gentile (Greek).
Ezra 2:13 might be another clue as well.

For over 500 years every Protestant reformer you can think of said that the first beast of Revelation 13 was the Papacy. I’m not sure if they all could do the math but for centuries Protestant reformers noticed that one of the primary names for the Pope was Vicarius Felii Dei and they could easily show that the Roman numeral equivalent was 666.
