Always interesting to see routines. But I always take with a grain of salt though given how different our lives are set up. My morning routine is usually... 1) stumble awake because the kids woke me up at night and my sleep was broken. 2) Slam a cup of water 3) slam a cup of coffee in :15-:20 while catching up on the news. 4) get in my only workout chance of the day 5) on my kids at 7am until taking them to school (breakfasts, lunches) take them to school and 6) race to the office to catch my meetings that start by 9am and go off and on until 5:30pm. During the day I look for a few minutes to meditate. Use my bullet journal as best I can to keep up on work and home tasks. Evenings are spent with the kids and by 8:3 they’re in bed and then there’s more work or home-work to get done before sleeping. I’d love to have until 8:30 to complete a routine and get some work done and THEN go for my first workout. But life just doesn’t work that way for most, so suggest people take some of the insights here and intersperse where they can in their days and do what you can. Don’t feel bad if your life isn’t structured for complete success by 8:30am.
I feel you on this. Having to be at work by 7am and running til some days 7pm. Fighting with sleep apnea makes the day harder also.
Geez that's a day's work before work has even began. Fair play to you
Couldn't have said it better myself... Children are a blessing and and those that don't have them will never know this.
Good stuff Taren! I took notes and will use them to formulate my morning routine. Thanks for sharing!
Omg Taren i have 4 kids my last is 6 year old and i have a full time job, i would never have the time to do meditation, stretching plus journaling! AND you are a lucky boy that your wife does your dinner 😏 i train to do a spring triathlon and life is busy but i keep up with it. I envy you 😄
lily boucher I know 😁 there's no time to do all of that... I work some day's 14hours (with travel) and then I'm glad to have a 1 hour run... Sometime between work I'm 7hours home and the there's only time fore 30' workout... TAREN you can train like a pro. I'm glad for you but not all age groupers can do that
I heard quote a few of these tips in the book 'Own The Day' too.. I've also started doing quite a few of these myself :D
Taren, thank you for sharing your helpful approach! Since I'm new to your channel I can't tell if you have already covered how to take care of the skin, especially the skin of the feet which has to take a lot of mechanical stress from running and corrosion from chlorine in the pool or saltwater. Some advice or insight from your experience would be highly appreciated. Ride safe!
great !!!!!
Sweet!!!
Okay, I’m starting to become a trainiac. A few comments... First, like your wife said she’s married to you and you can be annoying sometimes. Guess what I love it! You have passion and are sincere. That’s all really all that matters. I’ve watch at least 30 of your videos in the last two weeks and feel like I know your dogs, new back yard, coach pat, Kim and Meg etc... Second, why are there any haters? I read some comments and want to tell some of these people to go pound sand. These are free videos. You don’t like them go somewhere else. You don’t like the promo, don’t buy it. #hatehasnoplacehere Last, THANK YOU! As someone just getting into the sport your an inspiration. Keep on keeping on!
Aw, thanks for the kind words Mike! There are always haters, nothing you can do about it... and it's always an issue with them, some inadequacy of theirs that they take out on others. Just have to learn to always remember it's not really about us. Glad you've joined us in this great sport AND in the Trainiac community! Glad to have you!
Tauren, any chance for a link to the alternative coffee ingredients/set up 👍🏻😀
wow! at what time do you get up? with Florida summer I would have to get up at 3 or 4 am
Oh man, he's on the "Spirulina Bruh" A few of you will get what I mean.
Liam Sangaku we all want to try it but it’s to expensive for the rest of us
Is it a Vegan Cyclist reference? ☺
Hi Taren, here is a thought for you and all of the world. I never drank coffee until I was 40 years old. I was never injured when I raced and focused on athletics....Now, have been drinking it for 23 years.....Injured often....LOL....just a thought.
Great video! Considered doing the journaling/major task list the night before?
You could if you wanted, but this works best for me time-wise and brain-wise!
I am interested to hear more about Spirulina and its benefits.
Really inspired by your morning routine. Looking to incorporate some of the things that you do like journaling. But I have to start with becoming a consistent morning person. Any tips on that or perhaps a video in the future? By the way, is your journal a regular lined book or do you use a special one? How do you keep track on all the things that you to do? Is there like a mega to do list somewhere in your journal? What’s the format of your journaling. I really need a guide as a triathlete myself. Thanks
I don't know really how to tell you how to be a consistent morning person. The journal I use is just a book that I like, it doesn't matter if it's special or lined or just a notebook or random pieces of paper. If a special kind of book makes you want to use it daily, then by all means get a special journal book. And mega to-do list, no, that's not what I use my journal for. You can Google journaling, there are many many different ways to do it... it's a personal type of thing, whtaever works best for you.
Thanks Taren
I have no morning routine I just wake up smiling that there is another day to do some cycling, running and swimming (In that order actually:-))
Run first. Fewer injuries...Enjoy
Good info, bro -- thanks for the videos
could You please specify more on wim hof meditation? :) thanks
I did another video about it a couple weeks back. Also, you can just Google Wim Hof.
Only few people can do all of this in the morning unless you work from home but good point on all of it
But even incorporating one or two of these things, like lemon water, is helpful.
Yes I agree always love your video
Taren, what do you think about foam rolling, that seems to be missing?
Nope, because I don't foam roll every day!
Those are seems small and basic, but very important core stuffs for supporting and building strong life...but most people tend to skip each day and just focus training itself...including myself...😥
Spirulina sp2 dont ship outside USA. What do you substitute this with if you can't get hold of it
Take some cash, throw it on the fire and pop a vitamin pill. That will approximate the effects.
The 70's are calling, they're asking about that intercom...
you live like a pro !
HA!! Hardly. If I did, then I'd have the whole day to work out and do recovery and so on. I sure don't have that time!
Taren are you coming to Kona for the Worlds this year?
Absolutely! NTK, Mel and I wouldn't miss it.
You have some fans who live here so if there's anything you need let us know. Ride from the airport, etc.
Do you restrict yourself from social media for any given portion(s) of the day?
After 8pm, generally, I plug the phone in the kitchen and head to the bedroom with my nighttime tea and Harry Potter (presently), to relax and read before I fall asleep. But that's the only time. That's the downside making a living on social media. You can't really ignore it.
Taren: Getting up early in the morning is not 08:00! It is rather 06:00!! At least in Switzerland :-)
I think he meant he finishes all that by 0800.
The Theragun can be bru-tal...in an awesome way!
Exactly! Works so well tho!
Use of “yet” at the 12 sec mark...definitely a Manitoba/Saskatchewan thing
Is it?! ha. Who knew.
are you guys also doing the cold shower or ice baths?
I do that, yes. Cold showers every day.
We get it, you listen to jre.
love your channel and content , but this is a bit unrealistic for triathletes with kids, traffic and office jobs -
Perhaps, but you can add an element or two, I'm sure... lemon water, a couple minutes of deep breathing... yes, I'm lucky I can do all of it but people can work in an element or two.
Triathlon Taren well, we may all whine how lucky you are to be able to live this lifestyle and organize your own work schedule and so on and so on.
But as someone, who had that office job, you went for it and suffered for a while and now you already see nice results.
In today’s world one can structure professional life in a way it gives you time for other stuff. I feel you, man. I also said f... you to corporate world and become pretty poor and had to work hard to get new carrier and life sucked for a couple of years. But now it’s pretty awesome.
All the best to everyone!
:)
Come on who’s going to do that only you i think great if you have the time food is enjoy
Highly recommend for you to put 2 tbsp of Apple cider vinegar in your water...
And Mct Oil DOES BREAK A FAST!!! It has lots of calories and it will stimulate insulin response.
MCT does break a fast, but it doesn't stimulate insulin. The argument that it is clear, so it is OK is pretty weak and lacks the most basic of research, a gallon of sugar water is clear.
Spirulina needs to be consumed in fresh state... powders won't work...frozen way only way...
Are you trying to be a life coach now??
Just kidding.
I’ve gotten into habbit of drinking 3-5 dcL of water in the morning, but Never thought about putting lemon and salt in it. Will give it a tri (⬅️😉).
I do at least one lesson of a foreign language I am currently learning. Does this count as one of tasks to do to become better version of yourself?
ABSOLUTELY. That's huge brain exercising, which is so important for us as adults for long-term brain health!
Triathlon Taren I heard that before. It keeps me going. After starting to learn my sixth seventh foreign language I was starting to think it’s just a useless cookie hobby of mine, learning to many to little. But science says it’s like workout for our brain.
Fair amount of bunkum with a few ‘sciencey’ words. Prefer your other vids
It's not bunkum, I do this every day.
I don’t doubt you do it. Your sciencey rationale is flawed. But a good routine is fantastic
