The ironic thing is that while this is a punishment for breaking contract (and a rather harsh one, at that), Zhongli is still rather gentle when revealing the truth.

It's cause Shes a Women lmao. As He said that the punishment for breaking a contract is literally getting stoned to death, and he didn't to her, while saying " Although that punishment will be easier for her. " When Paimon said " NO, DON'T HIT A GIRL! "

This girl kinda annoyed me when I was playing. I was like: Girl you live in Líyuè, under Morax's care and complaining about some long dead God, who died during you know GODLEY WAR, WHERE A LOT OF GODS DIED. And like why she thought it was Morax? It could have been any other Arhon. 😑

If you know Seraph of the End (the second season), they also have the God of Salt and he was really powerful. In my nation's history, salt was one of the most treasured things that ever existed. War happened, people were starved to death, salt and food were nowhere to be found. Since this game is mostly taken part in Asia's historical culture, I think it's easy to understand there was a God of Salt.

Salt is a form of crystal, crystal is an element of geo. But salt is weaker than sand against other elemental reactions

Still doesn’t make sense. Why kill her at all? Just leave her. Abandon her as most people would do. Killing her for mercy doesn’t even seem logical either as they decide a dagger is the way? A dagger?? If a dagger was good enough to kill her, then why not be gentle about it if they supposedly loved her and use poison or take her head. Poison would make her sleep or at least numb her awareness and decapitation would be quicker. But no, a dagger?! And her priests didn’t realize killing her would release her power? They were all living through the Archon war and they didn’t know these things? Eh I’m writing a fan fic about this and addressing some of the sloppy writing. I can’t stand it.

      (Tad late to reply, but-)
★Where else was there to go?
All of teyvat was engulfed in complete and utter chaos from the war.
★Some archons don't care about how many followers there are.
Such examples are zhongli and venti.
But the people knew that; if they left their prior god, what would make the new stronger replacement god accept them as followers?
They feared that their old god would end up as a servant to morax and punish those of their budding betrayal.
(This could tie into certain patheons like greek and chinese)
★there was only one kind of poison that can tackle the divine which is whatever the dragon king brought forth from the abyss.
(Which we discover through apep's story I think?)
And I doubt even mortals can handle whatever the heck that might be.
So assassination by blade was the only thing to do.
★these people thought gods were just meta-humans like superman or OP shizzle.
And thinking havria was immensely weaker would bring little consequences.
So yeah, they immensely underestimated the power of a god whether said god is strong or weak.
(I hope I did my best to break it down, like fr..)
