Over the weekend, I went on a social news network thread to ask women a question. I asked women on why do they think men put down women for being single. I then proceeded and say that men like to tell women that "They will be single forever", "They will d i e alone", "This is why you have no man" and "This is why you have no husband". I then did some research and studies on marriage and here’s what I got. Both men and women benefit from marriage, but men benefit from it more than women. The reason why men benefit from marriage more is because married men live longer, they make more money, they have better health and more. Also, research and studies say that married men with children are happier than single men and married men live longer than single men. On the flip side, research and studies says that single unmarried women without children live longer than married women who have children. So, in conclusion, married men are the happiest and single women without children are the happiest. There was an article by Psychology Today by Greg Matos, and he wrote an article titled “What’s Behind the Rise of Single Lonely, Men”. He said in the article that in reality, you don’t need to be in a relationship to be happy, but men are typically happier and healthier when they are partnered. On the Reddit thread, some of the replies said that the reason why men shame single unmarried women without children is really projection. Men are the ones who really don’t want to be single, and they don’t want to d i e alone so they project those feelings towards women.
I agree I also notice, many women tend to not remarry after divorce or loosing a husband but men get remarry pretty fast after the lost of their wives

WOW! Great insight! Looks like feminine energy is a blessing.
@@TheBlackManMythLegend 😅 yes she is one those exceptions she can’t stay single 😂
Lady Danbury was definitely a mentor to Queen Charlotte in my opinion. Initially I think intending to use the relationship as advantage for herself but seeing that Queen Charlotte was naive, clueless and inexperienced, she started look out for her. It seemed one sided at first. Charlotte was self absorbed but as she grew into her role as Queen she realized Lady Danbury was a real friend to her and she then helped her out. I hate to admit, I wanted Lady Danbury to poison her gross husband. Lol
We need a spin off of Lady Danbury! And they need to include her background! I wanna see her side of royalty!
Yes!!! I would be so disappointed if we don’t get a Lady Danbury spin off.

She is so beautiful.. I didn't see the trailers and the likes, so when i first saw her, I thought she is also a queen..
She’s like everybody’s favorite character so if they came out with one it would definitely do well

My own grandmother was "sold" into marriage at 13 in the 1940s on SC. Was abused, left him in her 20s. We are not far removed this lifestyle at all.
Agree, and in many ways selling ourselves.
It's sad how this wicked practice is still prominent hundreds of years later 😢😢
It's still happening.
There are still child brides in pretty much every civilised and uncivilized country today...
Omg my grandma too- she was 13 and the guy was in his 30s. Disgusting.
My grandmother was 15. 4 kids by 19. Single mother by 20. Disgusting.
Those scenes in Danbury show that the lifestyle of “marry for money” is not sunshine and rainbows like social media tries to portray it. I’m with you Yanie. I can’t either 😩🤮

Women of no color are losing their minds over Bridgerton.they were whining and declaring that Queen Charlotte was white. They can’t stand for us to have no shine. The lady whose portrayed Lady Danbury is from Atlanta, Georgia. She delivered a perfect British accent. Lady Danbury’s husband was 🤢🤮🤮🤮
Icl I'm a black woman and I agree with them. Queen Charlotte was literally white, it makes us look desperate to keep claiming white people in history when we have rich history of our own...
We don't need to coopt white ppl to have representation esp in a fictional show.
Maybe shine using your own stories highlighting African nobles. Oh wait, can't do that without hilighting their part in selling their people to other countries.
I’d argue the English wasn’t perfect, but decent because I could tell she wasn’t from the UK which threw me off a bit. Nonetheless she did an amazing job
Charlotte was white, but I catch your drift
The person who portrayed Lady Danbury is a Continental African, who grew up between Atlanta and different African countries.
I feel SO bad for women as such, especially back in the day pre-liberation. It’s a gross history truly.
Sleeping with husbands old enough to be their fathers, and grandfathers 😢 😔.
It really is 😩
Most our great grandparents been therw it. And had 10+ kids. Most our great grandfathers were messing with children/ your great grandma
Child marriage is still a thing in Africa so no need to go all that far back. And Atlanta is the Mecca for trafficking.

Honestly “The Color Purple” is a good show of this same type of behavior. Ceely was a child when given over to Mister.

I think her and Queen Charlotte grew to be true friends.

I was just thinking about that.
Systemic racism ~ stereotypes that end up being true because there is no positive representation
She was sold at 3 ?????? omg how in the world how can someone marry a 3-year-old. that is sooo sick
She didnt marry him at 3 but she was engaged to him at 3 ( doesn’t make it better but still) engaged and live apart until she was at aged
They felt they were securing her future in a time when there weren't many opportunities to live well independently.
Some think us evil for sending our infants to strangers at daycares all day.
No. They promised her to him. This happened a lot especially in affluent families
One of the things I gathered from lady Danbury's marriage is that blk women have always have to endure that struggle love, like she was not struggling financially (well atleast initially) but lord knows, my sista was struggling due to what she had to endure by being married to that man.
Another is, the fact that homeboy died and left her with essentially no finances so that she'd be able to take care of their children and herself. He squandered all their money trying to live a life he really couldn't afford, just to attempt to win the approval of people who weren't even concerned with giving him the smallest inkling of respect. The struggle was profound honey, she endured all that she endured with him just to eventually inherit crumbs. Nevertheless, I guess he's a "Good man savanna, a Good man", Chile👀
The very same struggle the men today have. Great perception.
It doesn’t in the Georgian era or today, people will go broke trying to impress others.
I believe the second Bridgerton spin-off will be Lady Danbury's story--they've laid so much foundation for her story arc already. One of the recurring themes of the season was "true friendship". I think they made it clear that Lady Danbury never betrayed Queen Charlotte's confidence, instead feeding the Dowager Princess red-herring stories and reports. She was however just 'babysitting' seventeen year-old Queen Charlotte to make sure she didn't mess things up for the colored Ton.
However, Lady Danbury decided to really befriend Charlotte because she realized they were both trapped and being exploited. When depressed Charlotte escaped the palace during her pregnancy confinement and fled to Agatha's estate, Lady Danbury admitted to Queen Charlotte that they needed to start over if they were going to be genuine friends. I think their friendship was real from that point on.
I love Lady Danbury. Her story is sad her family giving her to that troll. I did love the relationship between Lady Danbury and Queen Charlotte. They had each others back. I love that relationship between women. Both actresses are drop dead gorgeous. Even the older actresses playing The Queen and Danbury are beautiful.
I love Lady Danbury because she was resilient, strategic, amd clever. But they also showed that she was a person at the end of the day and showcased her vulnerability in some instances and I loved that.
To answer your question, I do believe she and the Queen had a real friendship. There were some scenes when she told her about herself and also gave great advice.
Lady Danbury was for sure giving main character... she for sure confirmed why the women are the way they are today!
Those lady Danbury scenes were enough to change the trajectory of some people’s lives out there. Some ladies got a snippet of what it maybe like to choose a relationship solely for financial and status benefits, although they may not all come packaged like that. On the other hand I’m happy with the reactions of the ladies on the internet because it hopefully shows some of these men who say they age like fine wine, what majority of young women really think and feel about them.
This.
The difference is Lady Danbury didn't CHOOSE this relationship. She had no choice in the matter. Women of today actually make the choice of who and when. A big difference
It’s annoying that some women can’t see the difference
Oh she definitely was giving main character energy and her story line was sooo moving
Lady Danbury was so traumatized, I was traumatized for her!
I might be able to handle it if he was built like Djimon Hounsou or Tyson Beckham.
But if it was Tracy Morgan, girllllllllllll😩😩😩
Women think they can't but poverty is a mf. Some women can endure, some cant. Men think we equally desire sex the same way they do and we don't unless he's drop dead gorgeous. Drop dead gorgeous men often times are not providers and want you to contribute. I think we lose both ways. You either build with a man or make more than him and suffer consequences still. Men think they have it bad when we have it much worse.
My thoughts exactly.
Great points!
but most women atleast in the US are not living in extreme poverty that would require this level of desperation. Most women here can support themselves without a man if they go to school or start a business. So the only women that would need to do what Danbury did are women wanting to live above their means and flex.
Sounds terrible, but I completely agree. Men aren’t that viscerally attractive to me unless they’re out of the world gorgeous like Roman Reigns (WWE wrestler) or Jason Momoa 🤤🥰
@@sweetsiren8841 Well that’s not always the case most people don’t go to college or start businesses. Yes they are some women in the us living in extreme poverty.
Idk why I thought about Marquis Houston and his wife
I think they developed a real friendship. In the middle of the season, Lady opened up to Charlotte about how she wasn't seeing her as a true friend.... but wanted to change that.
I've never seen this series, but it looks interesting. I love to see a gorgeous BW n a role like this wearing beautiful costumes. It was normal for women to be sold into marriage to much older, abusive men. They didn't have a choice. It's still going on in many places. This is the dark side of marrying for money and status, having to sleep with a man you don't love and aren't attracted to. I'm glad the character chose herself in the end and found happiness without a man.
I just want to tell you that girl I see you post everywhere lol idk if it’s a coincidence or what. It’s so random. Lol

The fact that men have always harped on “men are visual, she gotta look like this, be a size 6, etc” but Conveniently leave out the fact that women had to deal with THIS for centuries…is WILD 😂
I truly enjoyed Queen Charlotte. And yes I'd loved to see a spin off about Lady Danbury. Arsema is that girl. And all the conversation it has stirred up on arranged marriages, women choosing themselves, mental health. And what does it mean to truly love someone? So good....
I love lady Danbury!!! I was definitely taking notes. I don’t blame her not wanting to marry again. She was ready to live her life. Even though I’m not in the same position or went through the experiences as her I do question myself as a 23 year old a lot if I do want marriage or if it’s for me.
I perceived Lady Danbury to have always known who she is and understood her value through the lenses of the tapestry of her life experiences.
If,”He just climb on top of me and do his business”, was a person.😮😮😮😮
Exactly!
Absolutely soul crushing
I really loved Lady Danbury choosing her own destiny and standing up against Princess Augusta. You look so good 😍
This is what the Brat meant by Jiminy Cricket 🦗.
I’m snorting 😂.
Speaking of the lacknof respect after becoming widowed, it didn't seem like Lady Danbury's husband was respected when he was alive. It seemed he ws just tolerated.
Yes, part of why he was so desperate to be seen as an equal to the other wealthy and/or titled men.
I've always been disgusted by men like him, wanting equality and to desperately look down on others.
There’s definitely a difference between consent and nonconsensual. Now that women can choose this lifestyle if they want there’s no compulsory marriage it makes all the difference
All facts
Love your video! Just note that she wasn't actually sold for money, at least not for her family. The woman's family has to pay a "dowry" or gift to the husband's family when they decide to get married. She gets the benefit of access to her husband's fortune and status. And her family gets to say they married her off to a good family. Back then, that was considered a W.
Girl…..yes!!!!!! Lady Danbury was my fav. She is def a BOSS. ALL her husband bragged about was all due to her accomplishments and moves. She set him up and all he did was brag.
She is leading lady to me.
A lot of arranged marriages are like Lady Danbury’s
Unfortunately but without the title!
I loved watching Lady Danbury make a way for herself but I wish Shonda included moments where Lady Danbury confronted motherhood. She has 4 children she seldom engages with. She told Queen Charlotte and Violet that all of her kids (now adults) live away from her. I wanted more answers about the relationship she has with her children because season 1 of Bridgerton shows that Lady Danbury practically raised Simon Basset and she is a somewhat maternal figure for members of the ton (including the Bridgerton children). I would have been more interested in how she became a representative for the side of the ton that is racially diverse and becoming a matchmaker with Queen Charlotte rather than her affair with Lord Ledger. The affair came across cheap to me. The proposal scene played with my emotions because I did want Lady Danbury to accept. She does believe in love (as she told Violet and is why she does matchmaking) it’s just that she doesn’t believe it possible for herself. She is powerful, brilliant, and self sufficient but she is lonely. I think overall her story was bittersweet. If she gets a spin off I hope it answers some questions and gives Lady Danbury more joy.
Yes, I was wondering the same regarding her children.
It seems she cares more about being godmother to Daphne's children than mother and grandmother to her own.
Like, I know some ppl's negative feelings for their child's other parent impacts how they feel about their own kids. It's heartbreaking when it happens but it does happen.
I was saddened to hear her say that her children were considerate to live on other continents. Sure, the wording may have been a little joke but I think she honestly felt that way.
@@Lokian_Mermaid I had the same thoughts! She bends over backwards for Violet’s children and grandchildren (maybe due to her soft spot for Violet and Lord Ledger), she was essential to Simon’s upbringing after his mother passed, and she housed Kate’s family in her home (season 2), but she has little interest in her own kids. Before Queen Charlotte, I just assumed she never had kids lol I would have liked to see Lady Danbury heal enough to connect with her kids (I had some hope after her scene with Dominic) and possibly see her match her own kids to a better partner than she had.
@@jamaica1527
Yes, I also thought she didn't have kids. In fact, when she mentioned her fear of her husband "putting another of his giant babies inside her", I wondered if she'd had just one child and that he or she didn't survive and then she simply didn't conceive any others after that. Having difficult births and/or miscarriages can totally kill a woman's fertility and pregnancy and delivery were definitely more fatal back then.
I would love to see more of her children's childhoods explored and to see how they feel.
Lady Danbury fought for her son's inherited status, and thus her own. But doing things out of obligation for your children and doing things out of actual love for them are two different things.
Like Jessie Woo said “it’s color purple sex”😂😂
Someone in the comments below talked about how they didn’t want to watch the show due to the forced interracial couplings. It reminded me of a CZcamsr last week talking about how two of his black lawyer lady friends who both turned down one of his colleagues because he wasn’t black. I was absolutely dumbfounded. I think trying to hold onto the fairytale of black love is doing so much harm to black women as a whole. We see black women being loved on TV by men of all races. We need to see possibility so we can let go of this devotion to black men that has not served us yet.
First and foremost, we outnumber black men by about 2 million. Even if they decided to choose black women, settle down, take care of home, there are simply not enough of them for all of us. The way it’s playing out today, black men are less likely to marry the more money they make. They are the only demographic of men who do this and that says a whole hell of a lot. No wonder why black women are the most likely to marry down.
When bm do marry, regardless of who they marry, they are the highest demographic in both race and gender to divorce.
The saddest statistic is that black women are 4x more likely than ww and Hispanic women to suffer from intimate partner violence. These are the men that we are holding out for? These are the men that we are hoping will somehow randomly find value in marriage after they spend their 30s thotting and slanging community d all about? Say it ain’t so.
On a better note, when black women and white men marry, we are 44% less likely to divorce than ww/wm. We can be loved. We can be supported. Our children can have fathers in the home who are committed to raising them. We just have to open our hearts and minds to the possibility that this man might not be black. Before you comment telling me not to put wm on a pedestal, I’ll stop when we stop putting black men on a pedestal they themselves don’t even fight to be on.
Amen. I am so over BW who refuse to shut up about their unicorn black males. I remember when that Disney movie the Princess Frog was released with the European prince. Tons of Black mothers online were boo-hooing about it, saying “my black sons can’t identify with a White Prince and I can’t support a Black Princess not having a Black live interest ” blah blah. First- Disney Princess movies are FOR GIRLS, not boys. Second- are they teaching their sons not to disrespect and degrade Black girls and women?
I’m so sick and tired of Black women who loudly carry a torch for males who wouldn’t spit on them if they were on fire. It’s embarrassing, and perpetuates bm entitled and arrogant attitudes towards Black women.
If you were talking about any other context I'd fully agree, the problem is Shonda is forcing IR on a family that literally survived on slavery, funded it and delayed it's abolition...How does that make sense? It makes us look desperate as hell, other communities do not romanticise their literal oppressors the way how we do (not talking about white men in general but Queen Charlotte and King George III specifically).
@@dlc2479 I completely agree with this sentiment.
@@dlc2479 It’s a fictional story?? They literally say they made this shit up in the opening scene lol
@@dlc2479 no I 1000% agree with you, shonda barely have black main characters, let alone showing black love. Although I enjoy her work, it’s something that can’t be looked over.
I learned that a man is not necessary a savior for a women and women can chose to move how they feel best.
Netflix has been recommending the series to me for so long, I think I’ll go ahead and watch it
You’ll be hooked.
You'll be speaking like one soon
Me too. I'm goin to watch now. Lol
It's so good
Lord Danbury actor did his thing too. He acted the creep to Oscar worthy plus honorable mention to the hair and makeup team too😂
I really hated how her r*pe scenes were used for comical relief. I understand that was her reality, but the portrayal of it was sickening. I fast forwarded through most of them. The later episodes showcased her anger once her husband died, but up until then they just made it seem like a cooky funny thing that this beautiful young girl was being used by a hideous careless man.
Thank you nobody has pointed this FACT out yet. They were normalizing her assault AND indeed using it fir comic relief very intentional and sick. Ive seen more movies in which sa against bw is minimized and normalized. Their characters are not allowed to emote while experiencing horrible trauma as such but non bw are allowed to show unease at the slightest creep trying to approach them. This is intentional and dangerous
I loved it. She put in so much work, as a Royal, like REGULAR BLACK WOMEN, to get it all WASTED, with good for nothing children...TF‼️🆘️💯
I love Lady Danbury! She’s my favorite character.
Bruh when I tell you I had to shut my eyes during the teeth scene 😭😤😤😤😤😤 I was sickkkk but anyways I do think that the Queen and Lady Ds relationship developed into something deeper over time
I feel like from the start of lady Danbury and queen Charlotte’s talking she just wanted someone to vent to to escape being with/around her husband; and speaking with the other lady was also just an excuse to get away because she never really broke confidentiality with her. The point where she really became her friend I feel was when they had their talk and she said that she was treating her like her queen and not a person. That scene was great.
Lady Danbury has always been my favorite don't even know y!!!! Shes just so playa and fly!!!
I think eventually they did develop a friendship. She even said it, in the beginning she saw her as a way to get status and a symbol but she realized that she has to humanize her
Something personal i would like to add is that the ability to “sell yourself” whether they can stomach it or not usually roots back to some disturbing stuff. This isn’t the first time these women have seen a nasty old man ontop of them.. just like the story of Ms. Danbury, it starts young. Sometimes at the age of 3. Chills.
Makes me sick🤢
That's not quite correct
@@mahlatse8605 Again, speaking personally.
@Venus Vicious What I'm saying is being promised to marry someone at age 3 is not the child now being a wife and being essentially raped at age 3. That child would simply be raised to be the specific man's wife. They would wait until she matured (mid to late teens, which was normal marital age).
This is my thought process when people talk about hypergamy . I’ve seen so many people on social media saying “I’d rather cry in a Mercedes Benz than a Honda.” 🥴 I mean I guess…But is that really what you’re worth?
Yeah honestly a guy has to have financial stability and emotional stability/compatibility cause otherwise the relationship is not worth it. I’d rather make my own money and depend on myself so I don’t have to have sex with a guy im not attracted to, nor be financially stuck under his control

One thing about Lady Danbury she is the queen of finesse
I’m glad I’m not the only who questioned her friendship with the Queen. Also those s** scenes did gross me too :(
I think she developed a real friendship with Queen Charlotte because she didnt come to her with her financial owes when she had the opportunity to do so. I think that’s shows she valued her relationship in addition to her close proximity to wealth.
I have a love and hate relationship with the series. Love the acting & Shonda getting to showcase her talent but this rebranding of the British monarchy as a progressive, inclusive mecca during the height of slavery is disgusting. It's a dangerous lie.
Also I don't understand why people cape for Meghan Markle when she was happy and willing to join the royal family despite the atrocities theyve committed against people of color all around the world when she thought she would be treated like a white woman. When they gave her the treatment they give everyone her complexion and darker, suddenly its a problem
❤❤❤❤❤
I don't see it as rebranding the british empire, just a fictional work of art. We all know they weren't that inclusive.
It’s not a necessarily a rebranding of the British monarchy. It’s historical fiction that has references to real monarchs of all colors that reigned over different nations thrown into the same universe .
The show wasn’t about slavery 🙄 it was about Queen Charlotte

I don't know if you watch "The Handmaid's Tale", but the character, Emily, was highly educated before and had been a college professor.
She killed a former Commander's wife with an untraceable poison she made.
I think she did possibly put something inside herself to kill one of the commanders she'd been assigned to. He suddenly up and died immediately after "the act". It looked like a heart attack or stroke but it could be something she caused...... He and his wife weren't exactly fit, so nobody questioned his sudden death.

I want to start a discussion. Someone asked if they were real friends, Lady Danbury and Queen Charlotte. In QC, they seemed like real friends but in the Bridgerton series, they didn’t seem like friends really at all.Thoughts?
I feel like they were but with time and her position, she couldn't show how much of a friend she really was to lady Danbury. Remember how her brother Adolphus just left with no hug or kiss to his sister after the wedding to king Charles? I don't think the Queen or court for the matter can show too much affection or care to keep up the portrayal of power for the empire.
They are real friends in the series. It’s a big deal for the Queen to show up to your ball. We have seen her show up in Season 2 to Lady Dansbury’s ball at the conservatory (it’s still the first ball of the season because Lady D is still a boss). She is often seen still gossiping and conversing with the Queen one on one during the Bridgerton show as well. Like there are snippets where they are eating and having tea with each other while the Queen is worrying about Lady Whistledown. In fact, I believe there are a lot of scenes with the Queen and Lady Dansbury just hanging out with each other. Lady Danbury is the reason the Queen chose Edwina as the Diamond. She is the reason the Sharmas were welcomed by the Queen because she vouched for them.
Still, we have to remember that the Queen is the Queen and deserves the manners befitting of her station. She is going to be hard on Lady Dansbury if something she does is gonna lead to the embarrassment of the crown. That is why she was short with her during the wedding episode in Season 2 because Lady Whistledown was basically questioning the monarchy and their judgement. We now have even more backstory for why the Queen would be upset about that since we know that Queen is focused on preserving the line for George. But, the Queen and Lady Dansbury clearly have a genuine friendship.
I'm hollering 😂😂😂. I ain't built like that either
Sprinkle sprinkle 😂😂
I totally "get" your point. Women were used as property back in the day. Lady Danbury said she was promised in marriage at age three yrs. She didn't say she actually married at three yrs. She said she came from money so she never needed money. It was status that Lady Danbury valued. She could have left her husband at any time. She ultimately chose her life.
And, she would have been a Dutchess or Princess if she had married the queen's brother. She had the option to marry a respectable black man of status but she chose to remain single and independent.
I am CRYINGG laughing 3 mins in! Hunny I know I ain’t made for it!
I feel you... I'm not that strong either😂😂
Oooouuuuu!!!! I’m so glad u covered this!!!! I thought I was the only one who was watching and feeling GROSSES TF OUUUUUUT!!!! and annoyed aggravated and disheartened by Lady Danbury’s story and how a lot of women experience this in current day!!!!!……. Did y’all watch Cleopatra??? Cuz she kinda did the similar thing
Also the woman that she was sharing queen info with went through abuse too!!! Don’t forget that she mentioned that the king use to use the son!
Lmao I skipped through those scenes she had with her belated husband 🤢🤮
Good choice! My eyes still hurt 😂
@@Giggles50 just looking at his character i knew i was going to be sick lol.
I have watched the others series and to me they have this confidant relationship behind close doors but in public it's more of an aquantistance.
They dead ass wrote in a strong independent black women trope.
I love saying Lady Danbury’s name ❤. I love her character as well
I think she and charlotte had a real friendship. It was just realistic to the one you’d have with someone above you. I’ve been friends with my boss but I’ve never been close until I quit. Sometimes you can’t be authentically close.
What I got from her is girls need real love too

Lol that reminds me of that video I saw on ig of this woman acting like she was having sex with shrek. On the screen it said something about rent due.
Exclaimed out loud when they showed him.
As far as Queen Charlotte and Lady Danbury having a real friendship? Naw, they don't. Neither of them can confide in each other. And I don't think it's possible to have a true friendship with someone you are subservient to. They can call your card any time that you say or do something that they don't like.
Danbury and Bridgerton have a more relatable friendship than anything.
I would have to disagree especially if you have watched the entire series. Almost every decision the Queen made was Lady Danbury’s decision and all decisions were influenced by her. Until now and even still, there relationship has never been the focus so we had no reason to take a deep dive into how much they confided in each other on personal feelings. I believe Queen Charlotte has much respect for her other wise she wouldn’t have stayed around as long as she did. Just my thoughts.
@@LipstickSensei As a member of the Queen's court, it is Lady Danbury's obligation to listen and give good advice to her Queen. On the other hand, for Lady Danbury to speak to her Queen about her own life, such as the threat of her title and estate being stripped away after becoming a widow, would be in poor taste.
I have watched the entire series and even as older women, the best I would call their relationship is a long standing acquaintance.
