Exploring Anna Maria Island Florida! | The Old Jail, The House That Fell Into The Bay & More Fun!

Thank you to AMI Locals for inviting us out to Anna Maria Island to enjoy one of their beach properties for the week and hosting us! We started the day with some delicious donuts from the Donut Experiment! They were so so good and we’re sad that there isn’t a location in Orlando! Then we get ready to head to the beach, we showed the footage from this beach trip on Instagram so hopefully you follow us there and caught it. Then we have some lunch at The Sandbar and do a little exploring on the island. We check out the Old Jail, it doesn’t have any windows or doors and they thought the mosquitos would help the townspeople sober up after a night out at the dance hall. We thought that was pretty interesting, I wonder if it actually worked. We also took a look at the house that fell into Tampa Bay and the shops near by. It was pretty windy but we also walked over to the Anna Maria Pier, the view was beautiful. We had some ice cream and then headed home to catch the sunset. We got some pretty awesome drone shots of the beach at sunset too! We had some grilled lettuce and homemade pizza for dinner and called it a night! A sleeping porch is used for sleeping on hot nights, because of no air conditioning. My grandpa had one in Illinois in his childhood home.

That doughnut place is such a wonderful idea, and that' is NOT a bad price at ALL! Never had a brookie, but it sure sounds, and looks, good. Loved seeing Jackson chasing that cute little doggie around. Made me remember him and Brother Bandit (I'm sure you too). Jim and Nicole seem like such wonderful, laid back, kind people - glad you have such wonderful friends in your life! First of all, that drone footage was just beautiful! And it was just so special to see your lovely family watching the ocean. Thank you. Also, you asked about sleeping porches. They are pretty common in older homes in the north east where they have high humidity and it gets really hot especially at night. Generally they are screened in porches on a second or third floor and people would take their mattresses out of those porches on hot summer nights.
I miss Florida 💗 my husband and I can’t wait to come when everything starts to slow down. I miss the beach and Disney 💗
Our sons 10 months old and absolutely loves jackson 😂 everytime he sees him he coos and laughs. I hope when we go to florida in March we run into you guys😅 he'd be starstruck
We visited Anna Maria in July and It was one of the best vacations ever. Gave me tears with the drone footage bringing back all those sweet memories.

Sleeping porches were used in the days before air-conditioning. They were outside porch areas that would catch the breeze on hot nights. Beds were out there and families slept out there on summer nights. They would have to be screened for mosquitos or the bed would need a mosquito net draped over it.
they also tend to be the size of bedrooms
You can see the joy and excitement in your faces. I hope you had a great trip!

A sleeping porch is an enclosed porch attached to a home that has no air conditioning; it has a roof, floor and screens for the windows. It is built in areas where it gets very hot even during the night so people sleep out there to try to take advantage of any breezes that might go by. We had one on our beach house in Maine and all of the kids in the family slept out there.
So beautiful and serene great vacation with no people around. This brought me so much joy just breathe the air and enjoy life.

Donuts for breakfast!!!!! And why not! They looked delicious! Lovely Vlog, the drone footage seeing you on the beach together was so lovely, you could just see how natural and loving you all are and that feeling of togetherness! Food looked delicious too! The old jail was so funny, air conditioned (no doors, roof or windows, and no one been there in years lol! Looks like there is a lot to see and do other than the beach! When we visited Florida last year, we stayed in a private rental villa instead of a hotel, we preferred it as it provides so much more space, the pool looks amazing! The sunsets do look amazing and Jackson looked so happy crawling on the beach! Love Ceri x

My dad grew up in Florida during the 30's and 40's. He didn't have air conditioning and slept during the hotter months on the sleeping porch. It was a screened in balcony to hopefully catch some breeze and keep the bugs off.

Great video. My cousin owns a summer cottage on the shores of Lake Erie in Canada. These great images remind me of my days as a youth when we stayed at his cottage during the summer. Love the beach!

I've vacationed several times on Anna Maria. It's a really nice family area, with a beautiful beach. It looks like you were across the street from the Silver Sands Resort. The Sandbar is a great restaurant. I've never seen waves like that on the bayside.

I agree with Jen, the B-Roll from the drone footage. It made the scene for me. AMAZINGLY selected investment. You should definitely include some more drone shots in your videos. It gives me much more "Travel" vibes. really puts the shot and size of the island in perspective. AWESOME WORK!

My family used to go here every year during the summer! It started to get super commercialized and busy so we started to slow down our annual trips but we loved the donut experiment, the ice cream shop directly a block from there and the pier! Crazy throwback

Yes he was a pirate, he was in one of Tim’s videos I believe when Jenn was pregnant and not visiting the parks. Maybe the MNSSHP?
He's been in a few videos as a pirate and each time I've thought this pirate goes everywhere. I think there's even one clip of Nicole sitting in front of Tim and Jenn as she giggles away about Jim.
