    Cool that you guys are getting to see all these sides of Bangladesh!
    I just want to add a little about the working conditions. There are a LOT of factories and companies in Bangladesh and many or most have standards for work and treat workers well. Unfortunately, there are also quite a few that do not have the same standards, often withholding pay, abusive, etc. There is another world of labor where kids are working, or women are working for maybe 2-3 dollars a day. Most garments factories are okay, though.

    • @azmysayed282
      @azmysayed282 Před 2 lety +10

      Thats eminent in most of the developing country, even the UK/US back in 90s. The ratio of good working conditions are drastically increasing as the country is slowly emerging from under developed to a developing country and child labors is also decreasing as the parents can now afford for the family. So don't worry its just a phase which will improve soon, lets keep hope and spread positivity. I believe you can feel a bit less sad now.

    • @Benglish.
      @Benglish. Před 2 lety +2

      You get dubious companies everywhere. Here in the UK, and only a few months, a company was fined for withholding salaries and paying less than the minimum wage.

    • @ziaushshams8840
      @ziaushshams8840 Před 2 lety +4

      Mr. Emily. May I know on which side you are! If you are a Bangladeshi, you should tell the so called buyers to pay at least 1/3rd of the wholesale price of RMG products which retail stores pay to bulk sellers in Europe or North America. Normal practice is: FOB price of RMG products that is offered to factories in Bangladesh is only 15% of the wholesale price -- lowest in the world. The factory owners are also responsible for this rock bottom price as they compete with fellow factories to get orders as production capacity is more than total order received in a given year. Plus, our lead time is more than that of competing countries( One good sign is: very recently direct service between Chittagong and an Italian port has started. This will make our lead time more competitive). So called buyers also mention some of the few anomalies that you have mentioned to bargain for a rock bottom price. Your writing in the vlog is only helping to maximise profit of the buyers at the expense of further lowering benefits to manufacturers and their hard working workers. Please ask yourself: for whom do your bell tolls!!

    Pakistanis used to think that a large population was cursed
    But today it has become a blessing for us,
    The garment sector, the agricultural sector and the expatriates were the mainstay of our economy,
    But now day by day we have new innovations to boost our economy

    Hi Mike & Gigi, this is a fantastic vlog and it’s nice to see that you are acknowledging the efforts of our people through the RMG industry. Just to recap the readymade garments industry acts as a catalyst for the development of Bangladesh. The "Made in Bangladesh" tag has also brought glory for the country, making it a prestigious brand across the globe. Bangladesh, which was once termed by cynics a "bottomless basket" has now become a "basket full of wonders." The country with its limited resources has been maintaining 6% annual average GDP growth rate and has brought about remarkable social and human development.
    After the independence in 1971, Bangladesh was one of poorest countries in the world. No major industries were developed in Bangladesh, when it was known as East Pakistan, due to discriminatory attitude and policies of the government of the then West Pakistan. So, rebuilding the war-ravaged country with limited resources appeared to be the biggest challenge.
    The industry that has been making crucial contribution to rebuilding the country and its economy is none other than the readymade garment (RMG) industry which is now the single biggest export earner for Bangladesh. The sector accounts for 83% of total export earnings of the country.
    You will be pleased to know as Bangladesh is maturing the government is diversifying to other industries so that it doesn’t become to reliant on the RMG sector which will help creat more jobs and up our GDP in sha Allah (God willing 🙏🏼)
    Again thank you for this amazing vlog, much love to you both from Sylhet 🇧🇩❤️🇷🇴

    Yes! The hard working women of the textile industry. The key of economical growth. I wonder how many of them are in management or business positions, however. In any case, I have true respect for them! 🙏
