    In my MSI Optix VA, "fastest" is also the best for the reaction time setting and the setting Night Mode can make a big difference, basically the stronger you set it the brighter the background becomes and it reduces the smearing by quite a bit.

    This is great advice for cheap VA monitors like the GNV29CB. The shadows control setting was called "Blacklevel" and overdrive was called "Response time" on my monitor, but it was no issue. Important to mention that you can sort of offset the dull look from changing the shadows/blacklevel by changing things like the brightness setting in your GPU's control panel. Careful not to take it too far though, otherwise you'll just offset the changes you made.

    People should know, there’s two different response times. There’s gtg (grey to grey) and mprt. You want both to be as low as possible but gtg is the one that matters a lot. Most cheap monitors are referring to the mprt response time when they say 1ms (and usually why they don’t list both or specify) some monitors just say 1ms and they don’t say gtg or mprt. Some monitors will have 1ms mprt and like 15ms gtg (just arbitrary example). I know bh photo is usually very good about listing all/accurate specs on monitors/items. Just make sure you’re getting low response times in both areas (my monitor is 1ms mprt and 3ms gtg which is good but 1ms is better)

    Fun thing, atleast for me, (AoC C27G2ZE/BK) is that this AoC monitor has a bad time rendering Dark pixels and colors, meaning that the more bright your monitor is, the less smearing and lag there is, it will also make the game feel smoother since the monitor can render everything faster and better.
    atm I'm running: Contrast 55, Brightness 65, gamma 1, RGB User Mode - Red 43, Green 46 and Blue 51, Shadow Control sits at 50 and Overdrive at Strong.
    These settings are what works for me, I would like to go brighter and use shadow control at 60 and move overdrive to Medium (since Shadow COntrol 60 + Overdrive strong causes black artifacts which makes reading harder in gaming), though my eyes can't actually take all that brightness in causing eye strain and pain which makes it harder to play games as well.

    This is only one tunings set that actually helps with ghosting so far! Thank you so much! But increasing shadow made a new issue for screen being kinda 'misty' with high brightness. I have AOC C27G2AE/BK and there are setting for colors i found to solve the misty issue.
    In GMENU:
    shadow control:60
    game color:10
    brightness:40
    contrast:50
    color temp:normal
    overdrive:medium
    gamma:1
    low blue mode:multimedia
    eco mode:internet
    I have amd card. So it was amd software programm for me to tune rest. For nvidia i guess you'll find similar color settings in nvidia panel. Its for global display settings.
    Custom color setting:
    color temperature:7100
    brightness:- 2
    hue:0
    contrast:88
    saturation:100
    Without last part of settings it doesn't look that fine to me.
    Probably this will help somebody in need.
    Update: apparently you cant solve ghosting on this model completely, its just impossible due to VA, it will be always there. Someone needs to make a driver level software display overdrive for VA displays. The software will boost dark level transitions at high refresh rates. This will be done by giving a slightly higher RGB value to the display for dark level transitions when at high fps.

    • @perdana5786
      @perdana5786 Před 2 lety

      @Precise. Yes, dropping the refresh rate does improve dark level response times on a VA display. I would personally drop it to 144hz since most games don't go much over 144fps anyway (depending on your hardware) and the jump from 144hz to 240hz isn't that big. I would not brighten the shadows since that would visually have more impact (makes image look flat) than dropping the refresh rate to 144hz.

    • @OutlawedPoet
      @OutlawedPoet Před 2 lety

      At least you can fix black smearing on a VA panel if you don't mind grayer blacks. I don't think there's a fix for IPS glow or bleed.

    • @Case_
      @Case_ Před 2 lety +1

      They release products with these problems because they're inherent to the panel technology used and can't really be solved. And there's no better technology that's affordable enough for mass production. OLED monitors make an improvement and are slowly coming down in price, but they're still way too expensive for anything but high end models.
      Also, IPS glow is much less of an issue if you watch the monitor with adequate ambient and/or bias lighting instead of in complete darkness (which is bad for your eyes anyway and should be avoided whenever possible). Ambient light naturally "darkens" the "greyish" blacks and in fact takes away a lot of the VA panel's contrast advantage, because in regularly lit room, you don''t really see higher contrast than around 1000-1500:1 anyway.
      And let's not forget the fact that IPS glow usually looks noticeably worse on camera than it looks in person, because the camera tends to accentuate it (due to longer exposure).

      I'd say if you're in a situation like this guy where you find a great deal on a monitor but it happens to be a VA, you can increase the shadows to get rid of the black smearing if it's noticeable with grayer blacks as a result.

    For those who does not know how to have better performance (remove motion blueness) this is the way : It is indeed a VA panel, VA panels does have aprox. 5ms not 1. This monitor has the ability to change in 1 (not even close to 1 2-3) that means it will have motion blur and maybe a ghosting (it depends even more in the response time [chose faster RT]) . Thank me later. So play with more MS and do not even thing to judge a VA monitor! Perfect price for a perfect monitor. Thank you again LG, and thank me later!

    I get quite a bit of ghosting on Call of duty Warzone, but I'm thinking it might be due to me using DLSS, although I'm not entirely sure. i will sometimes see trails from the birds that fly around in the sky, or people who are off in the distance, leaving a trail behind them. However, the trail is really annoying and I'm not quite sure how to get rid of it without needing to disable DLSS, since I'm playing on 1440p and want the best fps possible. I do have a 30 series card, so I dont think my gpu would be the issue here, in regard to it being compatible with DLSS technology, I'm just asking if you have any answers as to what settings I can try to tamper with to get rid of it.

    • @OutlawedPoet
      @OutlawedPoet Před 2 lety +2

      Warzone uses temporal anti aliasing with DLSS as an option, both of which cause severe ghosting depending on the implementation. Trying turning DLSS and AA off to see if the trailing is still there.

    • @thelants8569
      @thelants8569 Před 2 lety

      @@OutlawedPoet When I disable DLSS, the ghosting goes away entirely. Whether or not I have AA enabled with DLSS off, there is still no ghosting. I'm looking/asking for a solution to be able to use DLSS without ghosting, because I'd rather have the 40+ extra FPS with DLSS on and a bit of ghosting, than not as many FPS, with no ghosting at all. Currently, I'm still dealing with the ghosting and DLSS is on, but if there's a way that I can get rid of ghosting altogether with DLSS enabled, that would be amazing.

      @OutlawedPoet Před 2 lety +2

      @@Solid_Snake99 depends on what GPU youre trying to use it on. A lot of people, including myself and many other people who have a lot of credibility (such as JayzTwoCents, Hardware Unboxed), all agree that DLSS is actually really good, but only for 30 series cards. I've used it myself and I actually love it. I gain a lot of FPS from using it on 1440p and my game still looks amazing.

    Nobody buying a new product at the prices they charge should be dealing with this.
    It's a shame, and an abuse from the manufacturers putting out products where you can basically see 2 frames in 1.
    Same about light bleeding which according to them it's "acceptable" and "normal".
    Same about flickering.
    Same about discolouring along the panel.
    Same about viewing angles.
    All of that in the same VA monitor.
