Quite a few of you are asking about ANDOR! Here's the deal: I'm currently halfway through the season, but I didn't have time to finish it before filming this video, so even though I'm enjoying it a lot I couldn't include a series I haven't fully watched. However, it's very likely it would have been in the honorable mentions (a.k.a. in top 10), if not in the top 5. So yes, I agree, from what I've seen - "Andor" is pretty damn great 💜
It is very good. Unfortunately, like “Rogue One” and even “Solo,” it’s sandwiched between so many Disney/Lucasfilm misses, it may never get the attention and acclaim it deserves.
I like all the series you put in the video. Have you seen Irma veep. It was amazing
Andor really wasn't good. I couldn't help but find myself playing with my phone while watching it. It's not engaging and generally predictable. Don't understand the hype
Yellowjackets is incredibly underrated. Some of the best writing and performances ever.
Agreed! Can’t wait for season 2
This show is amazing!
Loved that you put 1899 at number 2.. Was a brilliant piece of story telling and exposition ,despite the flaws..so so disgusted with Netflix not releasing subsequent seasons!!..
I just finished watching it. So intrigued by the ending, so many questions. Is it possible Netflix could reverse their decision or maybe the series could be picked up by another network? To end the series now is a freaking crime.
Would’ve been so fantastic, Boran follows the path of 1 season for questions, second for answering and third for showdown, kinda like a three act movie !😢
Wish they would do another season 🎉
I’m currently bingeing Succession, which is extremely good. I still have to catch up on House of the Dragon, Severance, Better Call Saul season 6, Barry season 3, and many more from previous years since I just got HBO Max.
HBO are the greatest content creators on the planet. Those are all incredible. I highly recommend The White Lotus too if you haven’t seen it.
I love all of those but I guess I need to 'get over it' and start House of the Dragon. I never hear anyone talk about Station Eleven which is such a wonderful miniseries on HBO Max. It has a great story and it focuses on the characters and coping in creative ways, surviving and learning to trust strangers. The book was published in 2014, before Covid so I think that could be why some won't give it a watch even though the epidemic is not the focus of the show. This show is funny, sad, heartbreaking and heartwarming, I love it so much.
You're lucky, some great TV gold still to watch for you!
The Bear is one of my favorites already. Jeremy Allen White is one of the best actors rn! And that long take ep gave me goosebumps for the entire runtime!
Nothing comes close to Severance in 2022, absolutely perfect
My top 5 for your watch list:
1. Better Call Saul: S6
2. The White Lotus: S2
3. Atlanta: S3 & S4
4. The Staircase: S1
5. Barry: S3
Looking forward to the next seasons of Yellowjackets and Succession.
Mariana: "For number one: there is only one tv-show missing, say it with me..." and I went "Andor!" but you opted for House of the Dragon. Ah, well, to each his/her own ;-)
i absolutely LOVED severance, watching it weekly was both a pain (because of the slow start) and very intriguing the season finale was amazing! My other three favorites were Better call saul (perfect ending) House of the Dragon and Atlanta (also perfect ending)
No Better Call Saul S6? It went out in a bang and is up there in greatest show of all time.
Still gotta see 1899 and the Bear but here's my top 10.
10. Made in Abyss Season 2
9. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners
8. House of the Dragon
7. Atlanta Season 3 and 4
6. Mob Psycho Season 3
5. Severance
4. The Rehearsal
3. Andor
2. Barry Season 3
1. Better Call Saul Season 6
Just a quick thank you for your videos. They are so well written and edited. I am forever grateful for you bringing such high quality Movies and TV to my attention 🙌🏼 !
Love your lists. I have added Yellowjackets and The Peripheral to mine. Great content as always.
I’ve very much enjoyed those of your picks I’ve seen (Stranger Things, The Peripheral, and 1899). I’m very disappointed to learn 1899 will not get to finish its story, particularly remembering how more deeply engrossing Dark became as the story progressed. I haven’t been so ticked off at Netflix since they cancelled The OA prematurely (evidently their marketing department believes new series pull in more subscribers, so it seems to be increasingly difficult for productions designed with a story arc to unfold over several seasons to complete their planned run). If it wasn’t for some of Netflix’s interesting foreign-language programming I wouldn’t know how to find elsewhere, I’d be done with them altogether.
I've read somewhere there was some sort of power struggle within Netflix, where in the end they fired the producer responsible for picking up all the good content on Netflix in the last 6-7 years (like Dark and Queen's Gambit) and and now they've changed their politics in favor of "fast food entertainment" series. So the cancellation of 1899 is basically the final nail in the golden era of Netflix.
@@kosmosyche That would explain a lot. Sigh.
Don’t get me started on the cancellation of the OA! 1899 deserved better.
You should watch Andor, if not already on radar. One of the best shows I’ve seen in a while. The writing is astounding, and feels unlike any Star Wars before. Which I think is a great thing. More like an incredible espionage/political drama thriller and character study.
We're well into Peripheral here and really enjoying it. Thanks, Marianna!❤️
Great job! Many thanks!!
good to see you back Mariana
Glad you're back with another awesome video.
Excellent picks. I'm re-watching The Peripheral again. So good that I'll be reading the book soon. Never heard of The Bear, so that will be my next adventure. 1899 is a hard watch but was nice seeing many of The Dark actors in it. This year, in re-watching my favorite series of the 90's, The X-Files. So good!
I would really, really love a video review from you on Severance. Just finished it, so much to think about. And you're one of my two favorite CZcams reviewers.
Nice choices. I'm in awe of your jumper. 😍
Very cool to hear you talk about House of ghe Dragon
I was a little bit bummed out when you stopped your weekly Episode reviews so early (although totally understandable if they’re not performing. 25-30 minutes including Q&A would be very time consuming over 10 Weeks)
But i hope maybe for season 2 next year the intrest will be there - your ASOIAF book reviews brought me to your channel and I’m always intrested what you have to say about this universe
I really hope people are more interested in the show for season 2! I love talking about all things Westeros, so if people are interested in episode discussions for season 2 - I will gladly bring those back))
I love these kinds of videos. I get to get some great recommendations from you - and I always know your taste is impeccable! Thank you!
Thank you! Glad you like those, I have one more coming up - my top 10 movies of the year ))
@@ImpressionBlend That's great! I'm looking forward to it
Great choices! The standout for me is "The Peripheral". William Gibson is a truly contemporary science fiction author, way past of the previous wave who thought that by now we will be far in the Stars and we have not past the Moon yet and into Internet, Virtual reality and video games lol. Anyway, I think that the Peripheral deserves more attention and I am glad that it is in your top 5!
First of all, I HIHGKY missed your videos!!! Now, there's a lot to unpack here so I'll in the order of your list:
1. I have not seen your first honorable mentions but now I will. I watched Devs after your review and I absolutely LOVED it. I truly trust your recommendations. Stranger Things season 4 is definitely my favorite of the show, specially because of the horror elements and the extended cameo from my man Robert Englund. It was a great season and it sets up a lot of great stuff for season 5. Also, yeah, the Master Of Puppets scene is iconic and the most metal ever!
2. Both Severance and The Peripheral are show that I just started watching this week and they are pretty great so far. I though they both would actually be mini series, but if the stories go multiple seasons I will be there.
3. The bear is one of those rare occasions where the hype is met, and even surpassed. Do bring snacks, seriously.
4. I agree with everything you said about 1899. I hope that they can get picked up by another studio because the story it's quite intriguing but the characters are what really drives the show for me, and I want to see them again and find out what happens with each and everyone of them. The visuals alone are phenomenal.
5. Yes! I am one who started to watch the show when they were in the middle of the season just because of the great word of mouth. I loved it and I cannot wait to she the next season. Also, Vyserys is the MVP.
Glad to see you back, thank you so much for this.
PS: I know people are kind of tired with Battle royal - Hunger Games type stories, but I feel that Alice In Borderland deserves more attention. Great visuals, some pretty cool and fucked up games, but again, it's a show driven by amazing characters. Season II which was released in late 2022 it's actually better than the first on in my opinion. I do recommend it.
I was hoping there were some shows I hadn't watched yet on your list, and there was! Going to definitely check out the Peripheral now, hadn't even heard of it. Thanks!
Love your list I already watched everything on here except The peripheral. But it’s been on my watchlist but now I will start it because of your enthusiasm. I never finished 1899 because it didn’t give me the same excitement like Dark then it got canceled so I really lost motivation to watch the last couple of episodes. Instead I probably would have added Better Call Saul to this list. Absolutely love HOTD and ST. Still a awesome list you have great taste.
Awesome list
I totally agree with your one minor criticism of Strangers Things 4: the Soviet gulag monster stuff goes on and on and on. I love the character of Dmitri and his strengthening alliance with Hopper but I felt like I was away from other dynamics for too long. Kudos to the writers for juggling so many balls and keeping everything well-paced and coherent!
Nice to see some love for The Peripheral at last, it was incredible.
Yes! Such an underrated show!
Severance had the best season endings the whole year.
Excellent video Marianna. Loved it. Awesome list.👍
Thank you!
@@ImpressionBlend no worries.👍
Awesome list.
The peripheral is possibly the best scifi series I have ever seen, it amazes me that no one I mention it to has even heard of it
I always love to find a new advisor (if you will) on movies and series to watch. I love this list as I’ve watched almost all of them with yeh exception of Yellow Jackets and The Bear. We started with the Bear but got sidetracked. We’ll get back with that one and possibly get into Yellowjackets as well. Obviously would have to do a lot of catching up with that one. Thank you
Happy New Year, Marianna!
I hope you have a great one!
Hey, thanks! Can't wait to check some of these out.
Have you reviewed Arcane yet? It's pretty amazing.
Getting more movie info from you 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Raised by Wolves would be in my top 3 of the year and I’m still devastated it was cancelled. That was my absolute favorite Sci Fi show.
I also loved Wednesday too and Severance.
So glad to hear. peripheral renewed
Happy new year Marianna! I love your channel and great video as always 👏
Thank you! Happy New Year to you as well!
glad you mentioned House Of The Dragon loved the show bought the show on blu ray as a christmas present to myself. Im looking forward to Yellowjackets, Succession, Barry and The Marvelous Mrs Maisel
This sounds like an awesome present to me )) I bought myself one of those as well, though a 4K and I can't wait to rewatch it!
Great list, thought all were worth a shout depending on taste. Andor is on every level as good as HoTD when it comes to writing, visuals and performances. Hope you enjoy it and make a video.
Great list. Yellowjackets was my top new show of 2022. Severance was the second and HOTD was the third.
I loved Stranger Things S4 but S3 was more close to my heart.
Yet to watch The Bear and 1899.
Happy New Year Marianna! Thank you for all the amazing content you gave us in 2022, you 've inspired me to become a better movie critic here in my country. Wishing you a year of success and lots of great movies
Happy New Year to you too! Thank you for your kind words, I hope you have an awesome 2023!
You have such good taste!!
I don't watch a lot of series but if I find the time I'll definitely give some of your suggestions a shot thank
Thanks!
Thank you for watching and supporting my channel!
I so so SO LOVE THE PERIPHERAL... It's such an incredible series..... damn! Thank you!
Upright is fantastic!
Awesome list, I totally agree with you....with a small change, I swapped house of the dragon with rings of power, and I don't regret a thing 😆
I love your videos. Your videos are fabulous. You are always upbeat and smiling. It's a joy to watch you.
You have phenomenal taste. All your choices are outstanding. I watch CZcams and your videos when I'm doing chores or walking my dog. Unfortunately, that means I can't write down the series and movies you recommend. Is it possible to list the series or movies you are recommending? I would be grateful and appreciate it. Take care
You are becoming more beautiful each year....may you stay happy and healthy in both body and mind this year and years to come....and continue to give us more recommendations.....
I’m so glad The Peripheral seems to be good, I want to check out more Nolan/Joy shows after Westworld was very sadly cancelled before it’s final season. I know season 3 was not very good, but season 4-even with its flaws-seemed to be a step back in the right direction and I was SO HOOKED by the cliffhanger setup for the final season. Curse you Warner HBO!!
I was going to catch up on seasons 3 and 4 of “Westworld”, but not they removed it from the platform? What is going on here?
@@ImpressionBlend So sad about the new leadership for Warner and their dismantling of HBO Max. This is why I get my hands on every blu-ray release of my favorites whenever I can
Same here, always adding my favorites to my collection, you just never know
Hey!! Will you be making a Top Films of 2022 video?
I don’t really watch a lot of TV shows compared to movies tbh. Although the only stuff I seemed to have watched this past year regarding TV shows are The Book of Boba Fett, Moon Knight, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Andor. I did watch a bit of Wednesday on Netflix recently with my sister.
But a TV show for this year I am looking forward to is the HBO adaptation of The Last of Us! Based on what I’ve seen from the marketing, the trailers and set photos/videos, it looks very, very promising! The show is being helmed by Craig Mazin, who previously helmed the HBO miniseries Chernobyl, and Neil Druckmann, who created the video games, and it seems that the show’s in very good hands because usually a lot of video game adaptations suck due to them being cash grabs on a recognizable IP and relying on those who don’t care for the source material.
Excellent choices! Bring back 1899 !
Slow Horses on Apple TV I absolutely loved!
Better New Year Marianna and fellow Blendists. Safe Journeys Home through this new year. Keep safe everyone.
My two fave show of the 2022 was the anime: Chainsaw Man Season 1. Highly recommend watching the first episode and see how quickly you are sucked into the universe, and ANDOR just made me fall in love with how a good TV Show can be put together. Runner-ups: Cyberpunk: Edgerunners (hit the feels ) and The Bear.
I would love it if we could call ourselves "impressionists"
Impressionists sounds great to me ))
@@silvanapopa I am down for either (:
Agree with HotD, The Peripheral, and 1899.
Yas! HotD and Stranger Things were awesome nice surprises. I would add the last season of Better Call Saul which left a big hole in my soul and the last season of Derry Girls. Can I recommend to you Happy Valley? The 3rd and last season is coming out now, and it's the best police drama I've seen in a while. Very human. To me, even better than Mare of Easttown, and that's saying something cause I loved Mare.
Impression Blend Thanks Much !
Thanks for watching!
The final seasons of Atlanta and Better Call Saul were my favorites
I don't know exactly were you stand regarding animation but there are two very very good animation you could enjoy watching (if you haven't done it yet):
*Arcane
*Cyberpunk Edgerunners
I’ve seen a lot of shows in 2022, these were the best:
Succession
Better Call Saul
1899
Severance
For All Mankind
Stranger Things
Honorable Mentions:
Black Bird
Andor
Looking forward to seeing "House of the Dragon" and "1899". My favorite show this year is "1883", the Yellowstone prequel. There's so much quality TV series nowadays, that it's hard to keep up. Maybe it's not too late for "1899", Netflix have been known to change their minds if enough people complain/petition them.
Season 2 of The White Lotus was extraordinary! I loved season 1 as well, but season 2 really upped the social commentary and complex character writing (and SLEAZE).
Not sure if you've seen it but if I had to sell it to you, it's like a rich person vacation soap opera with really high production value and social consequences, and an element of murder mystery that drives everything forward.
Number 1 is dead on.
HOTD is fantastic. Cannot wait for next season.
LOL, extremely overrated.
Some of my favorites: The Dropout, Abbott Elementar, The Midnight Club, Wednesday.
Still sad "The Midnight Club" got cancelled, I was looking forward to seeing more of that story.
Where do you get all of your Sweaters and thank you for giving me recommendations on sci-fi TV shows
You're welcome! Thanks for watching )) As for the sweaters - they're all from different places, I don't have a specific store I get them in, sorry.
1. Severance (Season 1)
2. Undone (Season 2)
3. The Mosquito Coast (Season 2)
4. Servant (Season 3)
5. Young Royals (Season 2)
Some of my fave tv shows: Industry (def recommend everyone watch it), The Boys, White Lotus, Andor, Peacemaker, Better Call Saul, Reacher, and Wednesday.
Currently catching up on "Andor" and I'm loving it!
Euphoria and Yellowjackets!
Peripheral was my favorite tv show of 2022 staring Chloe grace Moretz which she was great in her role as always
It's all about personal taste, but I did love Peacemaker and The Umbrella Academy so much in 2022 (I binged UA) and Sandman felt pretty good, there is also a ton of shows that area dramas an comedy without any scifi or fantasy that were also great
I did really enjoy The Sandman as well, if would have made the 10 if I expanded to a top 10
@@ImpressionBlend pretty late I guess but the second season of Upright was great, is an Australian TV show, it features Tim Minchin and Milly Alcock, the first one was so beautiful and it came out years ago, worth watching, both season are only 8 episodes long and each episode is under 30 minutes
Marianna Are you ever going to review Arcane? 😀. I think you’d love it!
Great picks. I think 2023 is gonna be just as good with the Last of Us and the return of shows like the Mandalorian, Yellowjackets, and Succession. Are there any shows your looking forward to in particular?
Definitely "Last of Us" and "Yellowjackets" (anything that was on this list that has a new season coming up this year, really), but also "The Fall of the House of Usher" - new Mike Flanagan mini series on Netflix
I’m excited about the last of us too
I want this sweater!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for reminding us of what good series came out this year. I would like to have heard at least a sentence on what is probably your deep disappointment in ROP, But a sentence is probably all it deserves.
I mean, I couldn't even finish it! It was a miss for me in every aspect - writing, acting, dialogue, even visuals (despite the price tag, I saw multiple "cheaper" shows this year that looked way better). But above all, it's just really far from resembling anything Tolkien, aside from character/location names.
@@ImpressionBlend Yes I heard enough to keep me away entirely. I love Jackson's version so much, and Tolkien even more.
But I must confess that the one sentence review I was looking forward to hearing was simply one word:
'No.'
My personal top 5 would be:
1. Andor (even better than the original trilogy)
2. House of the Dragon
3. 1899
4. Severance
5. Peripheral
blasphemy, burn burn burn
I actually really like this! Haven’t finished “Andor” yet, but really enjoyed what I’ve seen so far.
House of the Dragon, The Sandman, Stranger Things, & Wednesday were my favorite shows of 2022
Season 10 of Letterkenney and Season 1 of Shoresy are hilarious. How many shows about small town Canadian hockey do you know of. All 11 seasons of Letterkenny and Shoresy are on Hulu.
I actually thought you was going to say the Boys for number one, but HoD was epic
You making a top movies of the year list?
To give some reason to why 1899 probably got cancelled is that Netflix isn't just relying on high viewership but Hugh numbers of people finishing it. I saw people saying that in the comments of a video about First Kill which was also cancelled despite good viewership
Yea, apparently completion rate matters, but they screwed it over in that case by releasing "Wednesday" less than a week after "1899" - they didn't give it a chance
@@ImpressionBlend I kinda of think that was Netflix's motivation here. They just didn't want to give Bo and Jantje more seasons for whatever reason.. 1899 was set up to fail.
House of the dragon is easily number one this year, Andor a close second. Haven’t seen the others on your list yet!
Surprised Andor isn’t your thing. Just astonishing.
Cancelling 1899 was ridiculous. I didn't like this show nearly as much as I was hoping to (I find the plot solution they went for deeply unsatisfying), but it was still a quality piece of tv with quite an audience and big potential for seasons 2 and 3. Maybe someone else would pick it up, so we can get the rest of the story.
I'd also like to mention season 3 of The Boys, which for a long time was really good (better than season 1, not to mention season 2), but then derailed near the end. It looked like the creators wrote it as the final chapter of the series, but then it turned out Amazon wants season 4, so they had to change the script in a way, that makes no sense.
Better Call Saul Season 6 , House of dragon, Final List and The Boys season 3...
Severance was outstanding. Looking forward to season 2. ST was great but Not m afraid they will try to extend it beyond its natural lifetime. The Peripheral took time this grow on me. I will wait for season 2 before I render a judgement. I strongly recommend Mr. Inbetween. Not sci-fi but an excellent dramatic comedy that will make you think about the role of violence in society.
THE BEAR!!! yessss
Better Call Saul. Best show in every way, and a story with an end.
I'm a little confused by your recommendation for 1899. I loved Dark and didn't know about this show, but is it a self-contained season, or will we just be frustrated that it won't continue?
1899 was supposed to be a three season story. Netflix knee capped the series though before it even had a chance.
@@masteronionnorth2341 Is it still worth watching the first season?
Excellent list. But add Andor.
My fave in 2022 is Extraordinary Attorney Woo.
YUUUUS HOUSE OF THE DRAGON FAV!!! Did u see white lotus
Still need to catch up on "White Lotus", but it looks like something I'd enjoy
“I can’t stop watching this show!”
Netflix: “Let me help”
I think the final season of better call saul was the best this year
I'm still upset about 1899 being canceled, they only gave it a few months before they killed it, a lot of people didn't even get a chance to see it and now they feel like there's no reason since the show isn't going to continue. RIP another great show that was treated unfairly.
