Acrobatic Royal Air Force C-17 Landing into Gibraltar Airport

- Gibraltar airport, or RAF Gibraltar is a small and challenging airfield in the very small British overseas territory of Gibraltar. It's home to the RAF and sees multiple visits of various aircraft, ranging from the C-17 to the A400M and C130, normally based at RAF Brize Norton in the UK.
On our recent trip, this particular C-17, ZZ176, came in from RAF Brize Norton on Wednesday 13th October 2021. Its routing around the rock of Gibraltar gave this incredible view of the arrival from our vantage point near the siege tunnels up on the northern face of the rock.

This beast don't even need to reach the end of the runway to come to a full stop. Crazy STOL performance for a 280 ton jet.
Now I believed what MD said that the C-17 only need 3,000 ft of runway to stop when applying full reverse.
Came in just 5% > 3° glideslope. Almost nailed the numbers.

I live a 10-minute drive from Gibraltar and if the wind is "right", you can hear these magnificent beasts land and take off.
Incredibly jealous as it's an amazing place
@@MTAviation, I used to go to the cemetery in Gibraltar, which lies right next to the runway, giving you the best seat in the house, really, if a bit morbid. But they only had 2 flights a day back then! One coming in, one going out (it's a bit more now) :) I go to Gib every Saturday and regularly get held up, having to wait for a plane that's coming in or leaving. I never get bored of watching them.
They're building a tunnel underneath the end of the runway (that's been "in progress" for 10 years now), to reduce traffic holdups, although pedestrians will still be able to cross the runway as they do now.

Nothing remotely aerobatic about that. Standard GIB approach. None the less an excellent piece of filming from a supert vantage point.
Erm? Did you even watch the video? I’m pretty sure my easyJet didn’t fly that approach. 🤣
I think some people are really offended now, they are gonna file a complaint against the RAF and forbid such landings 😂 woke society
