Waste Management • Mack MRU McNeilus Rear Loader Garbage Truck

Here is something I filmed this past spring, this fantastic looking, fairly new, MRU. After WM's purchase of Advanced, there was a rumor going around that they'd eventually be closing down the Shippensburg Advanced yard (the yard that serviced me) and only keeping the landfill. As you'd expect, employees stared leaving left and right, going to other companies or finding new fields of work all together. Since Advanced had a skeleton crew, was over an hour away from town, and just simply couldn't do it, the Camp Hill WM yard, being less than a mile away, stepped in to take care of the route. The only problem? With the post-covid labor shortage, and an absolutely booming summer season, Camp Hill wasn't really in a position to take on another route. After a few weeks of trash sitting out all week and not getting collected until the wee hours of Saturday mornings, they started sending trucks after their regular routes to do small portions of the route, until they either packed out, or ran out of hours for the day. (the route could easily be done in 4-5 hours with a standard paced RL crew) I happened to find this truck one Thursday evening as I got home from work, as they were just pulling into town to collect what they could.
