This was their farewell to Avi. Kevin tuned Beyoncé (the cello) low so she could "sing" Avi's part, while Kevin was still doing percussion, and looking as if he would burst into tears at any moment.
The pain you're feeling listening to this song is what they were feeling when they recorded it.
Oh wow, did not know that.
Actually, Kevin did not tune the cello low. He just played the lower strings. The cello has a very large range.
Scott looking straight in the camera to say goodbye. It's like he's talking directly to Avi. What a send-off. Gets me every time. 😢
Away in a Manger is the only other music video they did without a bass singer.
Every time I hear their version, I almost want to cry. Even though Avi been gone for many years now, I listen to this song and all those feelings come flooding back
Same.
The cello was pretty much doing Avi’s part…..it makes me very sad, when Scott looks directly at the camera, to say goodbye. Right after Avi’s announcement that he was leaving 😢
Actually this was unplanned, and it was the day after Avi's last concert with PTX.
This and Avi's last time singing Light in the Hallway are PTX tearjerkers
Yes, and the one where they are sitting and he talks about why. Couldn't watch any of these for months.
Oh my God I still remember that final concert and him singing Light in the Hallway 😭
This was in the period after Avi left and before Matt came on board, and the sorrowful tone in the beginning really comes across so authentically and beautifully.
Wow. Even more powerful now.
This was a trying time for Pentatonix. Thank God Matt came along.
Watch " The making of Evergreen" You can see them do 14 tracks in 2 weeks. You will see how they work together
Calum Scott does an amazing version of this too. He got the golden button for his version
Full body chills every time with this one! Such a gorgeous and emotional arrangement. There’s just nothing they can’t do. 💜
The four Pentatonix members sounded incredible on this song. Kevin had his cello singing along and it was amazing. Thanks for the reaction.
Beautiful!
Always leaves me a little misty-eyed - miss ya, Avi
Great reaction. Love watching your channel grow.
PTX is so amazing vocally AND they put so much emotion into their music. You FEEL it on all levels.
Thanks so much! They are all so good. Reaction to Mitch's version of Your Power coming later today.
As I'm sure many have said, this was one of two videos they did after Avi left and before Matt officially joined the group. I know some don't agree, but I will always think of this as their good-bye song to Avi. It really hits home when Scott looks at the camera and sings "I just came to say good-bye". It's a beautiful rendition of the song, but still breaks my heart, even after so many years. By the way, the other song by just these four is "Away in a Manger".
Definitely hits harder now that i know this. Thanks for sharing ❤️
One of my faves. Just the three of them singing and sounding so beautiful together.
It’s a very emotional one. I really do love it. I think it’s the only official video with just four members. Were there any others? I can’t recall but I don’t think so. Somebody will tell me, I’m sure. They brought in Matt as a “guest” for Deck the Halls, which I think was the next one.
Away in a manger I think is the only other one without a bass.
@@melissacoviello2886 oh yes! Thank you, Melissa!
I'm a little surprised that you haven't notice Avi was not in the video.
🤯
This one is so bittersweet.
Hello Saeed. Thanks for this one!
Hey, Meg! Thanks for watching.
@@SaeedReacts. Thanks to you.
They had recently found out that Avi was leaving. You can see the sadness and also the fear of "what's next?" in all their eyes. Such a great tribute "replacing" Avi with the cello.
Oh didnt know that. Makes it even more emotional. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome Reaction!!
Thank you!
Watch it again knowing this was right after Avi left and Kevin and the cello is doing Avi’s part. 😢 (Kevin and Avi were apartment mates so I know he was extra sad.) It makes me so sad and I rarely watch it but I did it for your channel. But now we have Matt and I love Matt too and they are getting better and better. It is kind of a lesson in life, bad things happen, don’t give up, keep going and look forward and not back.
T ✌🏻
Definitely even more powerful, moving and emotional now that i know this. Thanks for still watching it with me ❤️
PLEASE CHECK OUT GOLD FROM PENTATONIX
In addition to missing Avi, they must have been concerned about what would happen to the group. Should they try continuing like this without replacing Avi? Would they be able to find someone who could cover Avi's part and fit in with the group? They were just starting to get awards and an international fan base. How much support would they lose with Avi gone?
Definitely must have been a hard time
This one gets me in the heart. You might notice I am not around as much as usual - not that I think you will care, but I have a friend visiting from far across the US and we are keeping busy , she will be here til the end of April and I will catch up when I can!
Beautiful rendition! Have a wonderful time with your friend. That is what life is about!
@@SaeedReacts. I have laughed so much my ribs hurt. Even in our 60's we are like a couple of 12 year olds together. It's medicine for the soul!
@@bethphillips9693 Amazing! Happy for you!
Recommend their Grammy winning Jolene, featuring Dolly Parton.
Love Matt but miss Avi😕❤
Still have to find a pentatonix song I did not like! ❤
