Formally known as the voice of Darth Maul in Phantom Menace.

I love how John is so skilled with guns that he doesn’t ask for a specific weapon, he just describes what he wants and the other bro’s like “hollup, I got one for ya.”
It also shows us that John had been out of the game a while. In the first film he relies on his own stockpile.
Now, he's across the world and needs to restock himself. He's wise enough to listen to the experts and take their advice with his input.
Its excellent storytelling without holding the viewers hand through it.
@maverickofkain it's fantastic world building as it helps the viewer understand how the criminal world works and how it's more than crime lords and drugs
@@maverickofkainwell, Santino did blow up his house
@maverickofkain one example being the new and modern Glocks that he recommended to John Wick. Since its implied he retired from the scene many years ago (before Viggo's kid was born), those Glocks might not have existed when he left the scene to get married
@@maverickofkain To add more detail, Glock 26 and 34 came out in the late 1990s. If we go by the slider phones everyone is carrying and conducting "business" with, the time period is the mid-2000s to 2010 latest. If he has been out of action long enough, before Viggo's son was born, he won't have known any model of Glocks other than the 17 or 18 or maybe 19
Benelli M4 also came out in the late 1990s as well, after John had 1st time "retired"

Aw man, that smile the sommelier gives when John asks about “dessert.” It’s just like ‘oh, nobody asks about dessert anymore. That’s why I like you Mr. Wick.’

I really appreciate the role of the Liberian and how he’s paid just as much. Detailed location Information is a massive part of a successful mission that isn’t given enough credit in a lot of other action movies
well, its a high table member's mansion...pretty sure it was illegal for him to trade that kind of information to anybody so the price is highly expensive
Logistics: Proper preparation ensures preferred performance.
I agree. When you know what's around you, you can be creative. That's why the weapons weren't as important
The information he received about the layout of the catacombs was what gave him the ultimate edge during the climatic firefight.
When payday 2 added the tactical menu to missions, the game got easier and Better, especially shadow raid. Because now you just didn't have the best gear, you had the best information.
Notice how the man with the detailed estate map and the key was the one who got paid the most? Really shows you that informations is indeed the most valued thing to an assassin.
Yeah, and when Hillary Clinton gets bad Intel she gives the go ahead to drone strike an Afghan orphanage killing multiple children, teachers and doctors.
The map and keys were to that of a estate belonging to a member of the High Table. That information is going to be very risky for that man to obtain for Wick

agreed, though I will say, Vivian Ward (Pretty Woman) is a close second ;-)
I dunno, Taxi Driver is a contender 🤔
The smile he gives him when he asks about dessert says “no one orders dessert anymore, it’s been so long.”
Idk, it seems more like he's just satisfied that Wick is interested in the whole array of weapons and not just one or two. The Sommolier appears to be _very_ particular about his weapons, so the fact that John wants such a wide variety is probably- to him -a display of fine taste on John Wick's part.
Nah he’s just mad John said DEssert instead of deSSERT
Maybe he thought he wanted a Desert Eagle? Who knows.... nothing surprises me anymore after how they pronounced Russian in JW part I
I agree on that notion. He knows that John Wick is an exceptional assassin and would expect that from him: a professional who uses the entire range of weapons at his arsenal.
idk his expression always looked disappointed to me
I can tell Mr Wick is their beloved costumer. Whenever he's around, business is prosper. So that explain the excitement in their eyes when they see Wick coming. Especially that gun sommelier. It's like he's been waiting for his best friend all this time.
I love this scene. Every part of it. But my favorite? When John asks for "dessert" and the sommelier's reaction. Nobody asks for dessert anymore, underworld or otherwise it seems. My only gripe is that he chooses an OTF knife instead of a fixed blade.
The OTF is better concealed but a fixed blade would be better overall for a fight. That's just my two cents though. I'm not gonna really argue over John Wick's preference.
I would've liked to see him choose the karambit knife personally
@UnWarierMage He does use it at the end of his fight with Cassian, in the subway car. He leaves it in Cassian's chest so the wound won't bleed out and kill him. Professional courtesy. 😉
Other than the rifles and shotguns, everything he pays for is designed for him to not be noticed until he wants to be noticed. He doesn't want anything hindering him in the middle of the fight or in the event he has to run.
For the record I could easily beat John Wick in a knife fight. Just so you guys know.

@@napoleon950 oh my bad
Just to show how Mr. Wick knows his stuff, at the Tailor he asks for some specific variants in the cut:
- Social event means it can be in a casual cut and the fabric can be slightly more lightweight, stretchy and comfortable (linen, cotton, polycotton etc.) rather than the more refined but stiff cut and fabric (worsted wool, flannel, tweed etc.) used for formal suits
- Italian style suits tend to be more form-fitting and have less padding compared to British and American style suits, which, along with the more comfortable and stretchy fabric and cut, provide a larger range of motion possible.
- Two buttons instead of three on the jacket means it still looks good if unbuttoned, making it easier to access the concealed holster
- Tapered trousers, apart for the slightly more elegant air they provide even to casual suits, give a bit more room on the upper leg without looking baggy; again, greater range of motion
He's asking for all the things that would make the suit more comfortable when running and gunning, while still looking dapper enough as to not attract attention until it's strictly necessary

Your name is Don patrono and you are talking about armour and guns hidden in suits . I would like to humbly avoid you.
Only just now realised how much value they put on the information, the maps got the most coins and a compliment because he provided 4 things, the original map of the state, the old map of the catacombs, the current blueprints for the building and the old keys.
Information to an assassin is gold. Theoretically, you could have 0 guns 0 body armour and take someone out by like a knife or your own hands if your information was on point such as finding out there's a secret passage way which allows you to enter the home of the assassin in and out 30min job. Guns and armour add to make it easier/manageable but it's a luxury end of the day. Information is the only necessity, separates you from an average guns blazing killer

During the preparation scene, when John visits the mapper, he pays the mapper 4 coins instead of a single coin he gives to Angelo for his armored suits.
Angelo provided only a single service, while the Sommelier only recommended weapons and was part of the services John had already bought at the Continental when he checked in.
This is because, if you watch closely, the mapper actually provided 4 services:
1. He provided the old blueprint for the D'Antonio estate.
2. The modern blueprint of the estate.
3. A map of the catacombs underneath.
4. The keys to unlock the gates.
Every actor that came together to make this scene did a flawlessly fantastic job in portraying they're professionalism to their disciplines and how they strive for the best which reinforced John Wick's job as he only goes to the best.

I love how the tailor mentions that even with that bulletproof lining, getting shot still hurts, which is very true for real armor. If you wear a kevlar vest and get shot in the chest, you're almost guaranteed to break a rib or two. Of course, a broken rib is preferable to having a bullet go through you, so that's a good trade.
Plates are better but at the cost of it being bulky and heavier. If you're wanting to blend in then the carbon sheets work best
And most who get shot don’t feel the pain because of the adrenaline. If you know you won’t die to a bullet your adrenaline won’t kick

You didn't explain what does "tactical lining" means. Could you please elaborate?
@@luqmaanjoomun182 oh sorry, I figured leaving it out since the movie explains it. But the Tactical lining is the body armor that sewn into the jacket of the suit and possibly the trousers but they don’t show it. It’s light, flexible and since it’s the cutting edge of body armor technology, at least for the Organization, it’s perfect protection for Mr. Wick. Only bad thing is he’s gonna wake up to a few bruises. Because it’s flexible it’s also thin. But it’s better than bullet holes. Good for him to move to cover his head and use as a shield, which they also show in the movie.
@@seniorordenanza2387 Thank you
@@luqmaanjoomun182 you’re welcome
It's made to suit him!!!! LoL but seriously .. good observation!!!
As John Wick is usually a serious, no-nonsense kind of guy, I love the fact he is happy to indulge the Sommelier with wine tasting metaphors. Not sure if that is a requirement of buying guns off this guy, but his euphoric reaction to the dessert metaphor suggests he doesn't enjoy this level of wordplay very often
I assume it's a tradition within the circle - it's meant to imply that all Continental quartermasters are 'sommeliers', and I wouldn't be surprised if there's a word culture of food metaphors built by default around the gun sellers.
It wouldn't make sense for John Wick to have the mood to spontaneously indulge the sommelier all of a sudden, but going back to lingo that he used often in his professional assassin days is completely understandable.
i'm a sommelier and it's a reference to the fact that today there's few people who take a wine with their desert (that's why the sommelier is happy with this quote)
@@henrijankerguistel114 Grandfather port ftw!
I honestly can’t tell if the sommelier is in character or he’s struggling not to laugh in this scene
@@henrijankerguistel114 as an example try to have a Porto wine with some tropical fruits like pineapple.
What I love most is the slight nod to the Sommelier when he takes the knife, just a conformation. So they both know that he has it.

Professionals have standards.
Being polite to your customers goes a long way to keep their loyalty.
when your clientele are assassins, you make damn sure your customer service is on point.
Also helps that Wick is a walking legend at that point, so he's VVIP.

But I can legally carry a knife.
@@theodorethompson4536 and that my good sir is why America is one of the best and most confusing countries in the world.
Might be reading into it a tad too much, but I like the way the sommelier steps back every time he gives John a weapon. Kind of has the implication that he knows he doesn't need to hover over John and make sure he's handling the firearm properly, like he might need to with some "Just give something that shoots" henchman
I love this scene because of the guns but it also goes to show how professional the criminal underworld is.

Naw she grouped those. When they took the fabric out those shots were no more that 6 inches apart. From 10 yards that’s some fine shooting.
I love all the movies. But the second just has such a charm. In this movie we get a better understanding of the criminal world John is a part of. We learn a bit about the high table and how the assassins and mercs in the John Wick world operate.

I love when John ask for dessert, the sommelier looks like a grandmother when you compliment her cooking and ask for a second serving.
I love how much this montage shows you about John as a character. It shows he's cold, precise, and professional. It also shows that while he is familiar to this world, and has interacted with it for so long, the look on his face shows that he is slightly uncomfortable being back in it because he does not want to be. He just wanted a normal quiet life.
it's almost like that's the plot of the movie.
The tailor shop says it all, Wick replies to all questions without hesitation, he knows exactly what he needs.
And there NOBODY,a guy who want to go back to world before he settle down
The idea of textured grips being designed for bloody hands is both awesome and scary.
They're designed for SWEATY hands but the the fact that it's John Wick means the thought of nervous sweat never comes to mind.
And practical
I've never thought about it that way, to be honest(probably because I was raised around guns). I can tell you, though, that a huge part of getting used to a new pistol is getting a feel for the texturing. I've never bought a gun without handling it, because I'm kinda picky about grip textures.
@@bradsimpson8724 Same, I despise the sandpaper grips that are so common on new handguns today. Gonna rub blisters into my hands after a few magazines.
@@dissolution9843 Aside from my CCW, I tend to look for pretty aggressive texturing. I do the bulk of my shooting these days suppressed, and between the long, cold winters and the can backpressures, I find most of my range shooting is gloved, and the ergonomics of my guns have to accomodate that.

I like how they actually show John paying and thanking the guy who got map and blueprint of the estate. Every warrior knows that knowledge of your surroundings is far more important than your equipment.
Also remember that the map is not the territory.

@jahadzida That's not what he meant. If John had killed the person rather than paying that would put the high table against him earlier than the 3rd movie
