Sister Love, you aint kidding about them roaches! I was born and raised in California, and my wife and I just recently relocated to Charlotte. I'm not used to roaches the size they are here. They started appearing "upstairs" in our bedroom, and we determined they were coming through the AC vents. We had pest control come out, and they stated that the roaches were in our attic. We had the attic treated and started closing the vents at night, and we have not had a sighting since. Thank the Lord! There is no perfect state or city to live in, and I'm not going to let the devil ruin the blessing that is living in Charlotte!
Always go and see for yourself. If you are considering any place. A lot of places that people said were bad were actually good and vice versa! Go and see for yourself and look on all sides of town and outer skirts!!
Considering the humidity and roaches, etc. Both issues get worse the further south you go. So the humidity and roaches (bugs) in Atlanta, Miami, Houston, Dallas and other cities south of Charlotte are 2 - 5X worse.
As someone considering moving to CLT this is so helpful! I live in south GA so I can def attest to what you’re saying about those big palmetto roaches here in the south girl. 😭 you’re right about doing your research on apartments. My first two apartments I would see like 1-2 a week, but now I’m in my first luxury apartment and I’ve seen 0 in 2 years!!
Great video! Charlotte is a cool city but definitely still developing. You have to be realistic with expectations if coming from a bigger city. I hardly see police either!
So funny what she mentioned. My allergies were miserable in NY but got better down here. And the water bugs were a LOT worse in brooklyn. Now i NEVER see them bc we spray outside the house.
Honestly it sucks when looking for apartments because they’re all expensive (compared to everyone’s income in CLT) BUT THEY GOT ROACHES 😭 like ew what. I moved abroad😂 I was OUT
The clubs/bars close at 2 am because the sale of alcohol ends at 2 am (state law). To clarify the alcohol situation, state run liquor stores (a.k.a. ABC stores) only sell hard liquor, and are closed on Sunday. However, you can purchase beer and wine, etc. at any grocery or convenient store, 7 days a week. Meanwhile, bars and restaurants can sell liquor 7 days a week. Worth mentioning: A recent bill (Senate Bill 527), if passed will allow counties to decide for themselves the issue of ABC stores staying open on Sundays, happy hours, and alcohol delivery from bars and restaurants. Just FYI.
Hey! I just wanted to note that it may be more beneficial for you if you try to be more mindful about the statistics you're sharing. Unless you've done your proper research, I would just stick to your experiences. It's a bit misleading for those who are really looking to move and are discouraged by inaccurate facts. For example, Charlotte's cost of living is actually lower than the national average, making it a pretty cost efficient move for most people coming in from out of state if they are able to maintain their current salaries ... Just food for thought. Thanks for sharing, I did enjoy learning about your personal experiences!
Charlotte is not cheap, especially if you live in the uptown / south end area. $2000 rent for a 1 bedroom apartment is not cheap and people should be aware ahead of time so they’re prepared.
@@BlessedByBella Agreed! Again, valuable information when you’re speaking from your experience. All I’m saying is, fact check. I mean, take it or leave it’s just some constructive advice, would think you’d be more receptive.
@@jahneygrier1862 Yup. And I’m mostly referring to the Charlotte metro area. I did research before I moved here and I found upon living here that cost of living is more expensive than what I saw online especially when factoring in rising inflation and gentrification in the area. Thanks for watching ✨
Moved here a year ago. It definitely has its pros and cons. The traffic is crazy. Lots of tolls too. Definitely has a lot of crime, which is to be expected. Love uptown. Many restaurants to eat at, a lot of breweries, and it is growing everyday. Some schools also arent the best. I would suggest to move on the outskirts of Charlotte if wanting to purchase a home or rent.
I agree with most of this! Only thing I haven’t experienced is the tolls.. but I also live in uptown and usually don’t drive outside of the city unless I’m going to church. Thanks for sharing your experience ✨
@@BlessedByBella You're welcome. The tolls are mostly for express lanes on the highway. Your pros and cons were accurate. Thanks for your take on living here. Best of luck to anyone if they decide to move to Charlotte ❤
Oop- I have been thinking of relocating to Charlotte from Chicago but baby I can't do roaches lol. We have tiny little, actual water bugs and I've only seen one in my place the whole time I been here. I would literally have a heart attack if I see anything bigger lol. I still may consider lol thank you for the info
