Looks like the video was taken from an actual landing aircraft or a HD drone and the Cessna was added in later? The wheels look too crisp like photoshop. Whatever got blurred out might be the clue as to what the video was originally created for. Great video!
Nice strip , could land a jet on it. My strip in Alaska was 600 ft and had 40ft tall pines on each end was made out of mingling tailings and was one way.
That's fun. Despite all the advancements in flight sim over the last 40 years, it's clear from this vid we're a LONG LONG ways off from parity. I fly over similar areas -- quite beautiful but the trees are not so varied and defined, the water isn't crisp and rushing, the grass isn't so individuated and responsive to traction and prop wash. And the computers haven't reached the capability of animating and simulating all that. Maybe in another 40 years.
Yes and turning base farther than necessary and damn to close of tree's top. Risky for nothing. In addition, the lower you are in a valley the less turn radius you got. Better do a side slip from higher in final than turning base that low. Seems to be to fast too but it had good turbulences at short final so it may was on purpose.
It definitely looked like he was too low too far out. His landing gear looked too close to trees and he floated and floated. Its ok to carry extra speed but once over the field bleed it down so you don’t keep floating. Contrary to other non pilots here, I don’t think that was a good approach and landing. I’ve landed there few times and there’s no reason to fly in that hot and low. There are more challenging places in the West that would require you to be on speed and you cannot afford to float cuz the field is SHORT.
@@simflyguy Thanks for getting back to me. I flew into this airport as a passenger in a twin-engine Cessna piloted by a neighbor of ours. Did you go to the bathtub up on the hill or to the Fox Farm that up the hill at the end of the airport? I loved going down Main Street and going into an old bar and seeing Grape Nehi! I absolutely loved Yellow Pine!
@@WildWestRaider Nah, flag’s hanging limp at 2:20. Speed hard to gauge from GoPro (notice the parallax made the wing look like it had anhedral), but he probably planned rollout for minimal braking. Nice, long strip.
There’s some great video on CZcams of pilots in Papua Indonesia, & there’s some of the Bush Missionary pilot in Papua New Guinea . The one I remember was a place named Kol in PNG, had slightly more than 17 percent uphill approach, full STOL only strip, ravine on approach end, with a rock facing cliff the other, strip maintained by local natives carrying small stones & clay in woven bush baskets, & the grass was cut by bush knives, & still is to this very day.
Nicely done. Beautiful scenery. Smooth landing.
Well done. Has to be a high "pucker factor" the first time. Thanks for that. My first landing at Catalina Island, Calif., was a real adrenalin rush.
Air Crafts Carrier of the sky.
I was thinking the same thing. Good thing that runway is 3,400 feet long!
Good landing and nice view, thank you very much for sharing
That looks like a fun grass airfield!
OMG. what a lovely route, really good pilots. I was amazed to see many of them reached this place earlier....wow....
Excellent piloting!

One of my favourite places. Flt Simming in Tasmania :)
Really pretty well done.

Nice scenery. Not difficult at all to land there tho, I do it several times a day on FSX! Great job.
Well done…..glad there was little wind… but WHERE ARE YOU!!! I wanna go fishing!!!!
Awesome video!!

Liked it. From India.
What else is a taildragger going to do but drag its tail? That was a great treat to see that part of Idaho from above.
I like how the pilot "creeped" down the flaps. Nice job.
That's some nice flying 👍
Great fun!
Impressive
Cool.
Log it.
Great job.
I'm thinking about mounting some cameras on my airplane, what approve data do you use for yours?
the thermals and ground effect ye Gods!
cool im pretty sure that ladning was a little after me and my grandpa had taken off from there
Cool
Coming in HOT!

Vary nice
Looks like a fly in.
Nice footage. But it would be nice to know where Johnson Creek happens to be.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnson_Creek_Airport
I looked it up for ya :)
👍👍❤️this 🤛🤛
Nice camera angle
What is your camera mount setup back there, suction cup?
Why are there so many planes here?
Would love to see a Leonardo AW609 land on that field.
Is this the airport at Yellow Pine, Idaho? If so, I have flown in here (not the pilot). I absolutely love Yellow Pine!
It is, basically Yellow Pine is a few miles from the airport.

I feel if the trees are scrapping my bottom... 30 yrs ago I had dangerous landing with some wood in my geer 👀 of Yakovlev-52.
Wow...tricky
Watch that movie “Air America” where that pilot lands that plane uphill
2020 We lost our nephew and his two boys on a second go round trying to land there 😢
Looks like Idaho
A fun place to land and camp out.
Must have nerves of steel. Cool calm. Great when the pressure is on, I suppose. Adrenaline junkie, got to be.
No thank you. I’ll drive. 😱
This video looks like a game
What State?
Idaho
where?
Idaho
Low approach....hmm
I would pick a higher approach in case of engine oops.
Oof the camera has cataracts lol
I would need spare underwear!
Just showin off - Screw up that approach , once . WTF ?
Noooo thank you. And, yes. I am a private pilot, but please allow me to repeat: Noooo!!!!
Why noooo?
I'm not a fan of light aircrafts but this seems ok
Way too long. Good thing it wasn't wet...
Awful lot of speed to land with a Cessna 185. It's not a DC3 chaps. Learn the formula ie., CLHALFEROWVSQUAREDS.
It felt like he had a fairly strong tailwind.
My thoughts exactly.
@@WildWestRaider My thoughts exactly

You forgot flaps up after landing, amateur!
That’s not scary, I’ve been in light planes in Papua New Guinea where an airstrip like this is a luxury..
There's always got to be a "One-ups-man" around to prove they are better than everyone else...How about just passing along a compliment, then move on!
I didn’t read anything about this being scary……. Is there some point to your chest beating and self riotous comment? Yeah, I didn’t think so.
Still waiting to see who asked

Did anybody say it was scary? Don’t be a douche bag just because you’re good at it. Go back to beating the locals of Papua New Guinea with your Bible.
No thanks.
