- Chicago legend Tim Hardaway joins the fellas this week on Knuckleheads with Quentin Richardson and Darius Miles. Tim takes us through his journey growing up in Chicago, getting his handles on the city sidewalks, heading off to UTEP, and creating the ‘UTEP two-step’. Laugh along as Tim tells us how Don Nelson snatched him late in the draft and then just how confident he got after his first All-Star Game. Hear about the creation of Run TMC and learn why that scoring phenomenon lasted for only two seasons. Then Tim gets into his Miami years, what it was like ballin’ in the mid ‘90s, and how great it feels to have his jersey retired by the Heat. Tim then discusses Tim Jr. playing in the league and tells a hilarious story about the last time they’ll ever play one-on-one. Tim Hardaway is no joke but he’s got a lot of ‘em! You won’t want to miss this one.

Timmy didn’t age. He still looks like the NBA Live 98 cover.
That game was so underrated lol
It helps when you rocked a baldie your whole career.....
I have a Sealed Copy of Tim Hardway's NBA Live 98 for the Sega Saturn. I love Tim Hardaway Sr. so much growing-up! 🏀🇺🇸
My first NBA Live game 🔥🔥🔥
dammmmmnnnnnnnn!!!!!
The best first question ever invented 💯🔥🔥
Cosign, that's the best part of the show IMO. It's always dope hearing stories about how they got embarrassed their first game and it fucked with them the rest of their career.
Right right
Props!
Facts!
Best comment!!
Tim Hardaway's Crossover Was Golden!!!!
Noticed how both Tim Hardaway and Isaiah Thomas mentioned that dribbling is an art and must be done with passion like dancing to the rhythm of music.
Tim is such a nice guy IRL. Comes to my cigar bar I work at in Michigan, and loves to watch his son play on the Mavericks. Gave me great insight to the NBA players and basketball IQ and treated everyone at my bar like an equal and actually listened to people. Great dude!
I don’t think they talk about Tim enough... He was a problem!! One of the best crossover ever!!
Before and after his knee injury
Tim made some comments about gays that why u dont hear much about him
@@woodstayrealtv6329 yea. They also Never talked about how he apologized and was the first to stand with them recently. Sad
@@d.felixphoto2260 very true true alot of ignorance we learn as a kid but once u apologize. They should not freeze this man out for one bad comment
They don't talk about him as much is because Jordan was the man& people like Tim get overshadowed.. "BUT DON'T GET IT TWISTED TIM WAS A FUCKING PROBLEM".. I have mad respect for him& that killer crossover was the dopest.. To me his crossover is 1 of the best of all time
I requested classy Tim Hardaway Sr.! You guys listening! Thanks yah so freaking much! Tim Hardaway Sr. Is my favorite point guard ever! 🏀🇺🇸
I never realized how much GP and Tim sound alike! Two of the greatest pgs ever as well! GP lockdown defense and go getta on offense. Tim a flat out shooter with the crazy handle and great defender in his own right.
KJ was the same answer for A.I. & Tim solid baller.
Man KJ made a rookie AI cry
KJ is HIGHLY underrated
I was thinking the same thing as Tim told that story. Cheeks told a.i. aw, don't worry he does that everybody, and 1 day you'll be the one doing that to people. Lol.
DC also reminded me that KJ was on the Dream Team 2 ream.
KJ had that react juice in his shoes
Walking the ball is classic! Head up, Eyes closed and even backwards 🔥
And add that neck brace to keep ya head up lmaoo.
kmorr212 Yes suhhhh🤣🤣🤣
@@kmorr212
Them goggles with the shield under eyes got us TIGHT also...
R.i.p. FBG Duck 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 Chicago rap legend
To this day I still like the way Tim Hardaway would set up his defender before doing the killer cross over
It was legendary man, Lol.
Run TMC was my favorite team to play with back in the early days of NBA Live
Killer crossover legend Tim Hardaway! CHI-Town’s finest
I love how real Tim keeps it. No pretentious nature when he speaks. One of the best PG's to ever do it.
These boys just flexin str8 muscle now....salute🔥💪🏿👑
Man hands down. This man was nice on the court.. underrated.
Killer Cross Over
Derriyan Jackson man forreal, he was one of the premier guards in his era. Top 10 assists for a whole decade
He need that yellow jacket...... Tim definitely should be a Hall Of Famer
3 point guards who need to be in the HOF ASAP. Tim Hardaway, Kevin Johnson, and Mark Price.
unfortunately KJ played in the same era with Earvin, Zeke, Stockton, and Payton...
Absolutely!
It’s a damn shame that Chris Webber ain’t in the hall of fame
I agree
Big Facts, KJ was my fav. he always brought it!
"I got skillz"
-- Tim Hardaway
Legendary
I was waiting for Timmy. Another childhood hero. I tried to immitate his crossover over and over but I realized that I am more the Dennis Rodman type of Player if we talk about handle😂
Thanks for this one! Greetings from Germany ✌
+1 for honesty. Lol
@@d.felixphoto2260 😂👍
My all time favorite player after Mike. I even wore #10 in highschool because of him. Who remember the Slam magazine cover with him & Sprewell back to back with the bald heads? That was my shit, Tim definitely should be in the HOF
True story when Tim says he took his basketball to every court he went Tim was never afraid to go anywhere on the Southside and hoop but when the run was over Tim bounced and that was what separated him from the rest he was always focused
You grew up w this nigga? 🤣
@@AJShotDat yeah
He looks like He never was separated from his rock...
Good stuff, Darren - thanks for sharing, my bruh.
Nostalgic! He was THE pointguard in the late 90s! The questions are Fire, great interview!
throughout the 90's
Oh yeah. Chicago's Finest Tim Hardaway
Real hooper . The passion is still in his voice.
One of the best ball handlers of all time. The killer crossover. Beast!
This show always got the most unexpected guests! We need Jermaine Oneal on this. Or anyone from the 2000s championship Pistons squad.
Tim is a legend for my age group!
Jermaine for sure
Rip Hamilton was on here
Michael Brooks rip was on all thee smoke
Tim Hardaway in the building!
Timmy is such a great interview. Good energy and engagement. He came through for Q and D!
I swear Kevin Johnson done worked a few HOFs over lol, Allen iverson said KJ cooked him too they gotta get KJ on the show lol
I deleted my comment because it said the same thing about A.I. also mentioning KJ 😂
Don’t forget that dunk on Hakeem the Dream
@@bhk1105 yezzir. If I'm not mistaken it was at the end of a 1994 playoff game that the Suns eventually lost. It was a baseline classic...kinda like how Starks did to the Bulls.
Mo Betta exactly!!!!!!!
I rewatched a few old Suns games and I forgot how fucking good KJ was. He was one of the best guards in the league. They robbed him of his HOF honors too smh.
Pardon my frequent posts but I'm posting as I'm watching. Tim talking about walking the ball is classic. As kids starting at around age 11, my friends and I would have contest. We had a starting point at one end of the block to see who could walk it from one end of the block and back.
Wherever we messed up, you had to stop there and the next person went until the winner made it back to the starting point. The better we became, we'd trash talk and if you messed up, you had to go back to the starting point which was more pressure. As we got better the contest had variations such as walking the ball backwards through your legs, in reverse, and without looking down at your dribble (in those contest someone would walk along side of you to make sure your eyes didn't look down).
Unbeknownst to us at the time, those contests gave us such a foundation and familiarity with dribbling our handles became noticably CRAZY nice and it showed when we'd play throughout the neighborhood and high school, despite none of us being serious ball players.
Anyone reading this who's a coach or a young player trying to improve your handles, practicing and mastering walking the ball with different variations and speeds with muscle memory will make it IMPOSSIBLE for dribbling skills to not be masterful.
Real Talk!
Thats how you became the man in these New York Streets n to impress the girls you show them your double dutch jump rope skills after you whoop on sum boyz 90s was it you had to be outside to get your name buzzing throughout the borrough
Damn thanks for the gems OG
That's why Tim Hardaway Sr. is coaching in the NBA!
Outstanding content. This talk amongst peers format is so much more insightful and real than a „classic interview“ where both questions and answers are more scripted and pc than anything else. Here they keep it a buck and it makes a huge difference.
Tim Hardaway’s reaction to his start, bench, cut options had me dying 😂😂
Miami Heat fan my entire life. My favorite player growing up was Tim Hardaway. Still the nastiest cross over
Yo!! On everything...Timmy has always been my ALL-TIME Favorite PG in the world! Every since I saw him play against Isiah Thomas at one of the Chicago summer league tournaments at Chicago State Univ. Zeke walked the ball up to the half court line as he did every year at the 2 minute mark and gave it to Tim and the 2 guard. Right after that play, Tim got the ball right back and came down and gave Zeke what I saw for the first time the killer crossover and bust a 3 pointer and answered him back! The gym went crazy! After the game, I stood right there next to the two of them and heard Isiah say..."you've got a nice game man, keep this up, I'll definitely see you in the league."
Tim's killa crossover was consice and compact and got you out of there with two moves! Even though you knew it was coming, there was nothing you could do about it! Original Killa Cross-over King!
I use to watch Tim play in them Pro Ams in Chicago's Leclaire Courts. Man i miss those days. Michael Finley, Randy Brown, Kevin Duckworth, Chris Webber, Mark Aguire...so many more 🔥🔥🔥
Timmy always was a beast. LIVE 94 TMC Webber, Sprewell, Billy Owens was the squad. I’m with the chat too, bring KJ on...
Tim, we're glad you came to UTEP.
UTEP 2 Step 🔥🔥
Put Tim in the Hall of Fame 🗣🗣🗣
These interviews keep getting better and better. Love when they have the Chicago guys on the pod.
He not lying about him dribbling that ball up and down the street. I had family over his way and saw him do it. THEN I had family in and by Altgeld Gardens who went to Carver a few years behind him. Crazy. ps I hung in Altgeld Gardens and I have to disagree with Q a little bit. The Gardens wasn't a joke but the Taylors,The Greens,Ickes,Ida B. Wells were even WORSE.
Tim Hardaway literally looks exactly the same. Secondly I know he is proud, Tim Hardaway Jr. is nice, dude can hoop, and can drop 50 on you on any night. He's got a great legacy but his son is great for today's NBA and will continue to have a long healthy career.
Tim Hardaway is a TRUE CHI TOWN LEGEND!... Much respect.
Underrated part of Tim's game was his post up ability for a 6'1" he was so much stronger than other pg he would get easy money on the post up.
Timmy is more like 5'10"
@@lefty206 that makes my point more solid.
Man Q’s smile is contagious! Spread love
It feels like Tim is talking to me like the father figure I never had, definitely my favorite interview so far.
Bro I’m from Chicago he sounds just like my father I swear
The greatest crossover ever!!!!
Kevin Johnson was a problem. I'd been watching him when he was a rookie back in the day
seriously, all the nba PGs in his era give it up to him, he's borderline HOF, I think. he'd be elite in any era.
@@tompatterson8515 agreed!
KJ also busted Iverson's ass.
Never forget... he posterized The Dream
V HARRIS YES!!!!!!!
Bruh we gotta get Mike Finley, Larry Hughes and Darrell Armstrong on here next!!!
Tru
Findawg
Definitely Larry we're from the same city& i see him around town every once& awhile
Darrell Armstrong is my cousin. He didn't play basketball in high school until his senior year Ashbrook. He went on to play football at Fayetteville State as their fg kicker before walking on the basketball team. The rest is history.
@@neilarmstrong7835 I'm in my late 30s & people call me Armstrong since 99-2000.short dark skinned high leaping dawg heart & I embraced that name coz Armstrong was a competitor.started from the bottom. big up yo cuz!
We need Shawn Kemp
⚡⚡⚡⚡
They have one with him
This podcast is so good. Just brings me back to my childhood days seeing these legends. And their lockeroom stories are so interesting. My fav so far have been shaq Gilbert arenas and nick young. Haven’t listen to all of them but those standout
Tim had the killer crossover and it was something serious. I used to practice that crossover every day. Now can we put him in the Hall of Fame, Because it's well overdue. He is a legend.
Another One of Chicago's Own Tim Killer Cross over Hardaway gave that work to the best of them! and his dad is a chicago streetball legend. and yeah the Gardens is not for the weak of heart! ta travel from ova east to carver everyday on bus and train is dedication salute. kevin Johnson was a problem for a lot of players. Sarunas Marciulionis was a the first person I seen do the Euro Step and was aggrwssive and effective. dope interview keep em comming.
,Bring on Mo Cheeks
Legit Baller!..If this man don’t make the Hall, they need to burn it down!
WOW! That start, bench, cut question was serious this episode. Big O, Magic and Isiah.
We need Abdul-Rauf, Jim Jackson,Jason Kidd
Jim Jackson... Why him?
illmatic same as well Latrell Sprewell is one of my favorite players , also they need to get Larry Johnson
Ishammc cuZ he’s a okay basketball analyst for Fox News
Did they get mike Bibby yet?
Travis Greer nah they haven’t
Just from the guests mentions...we definitely need KJ and Mashburn on the show.
One of my favourite players.Could shot the threes from any where when he was in Maimi. He put Miami on the map with Morning in my opinion.
I hope they get Kevin Johnson on this podcast because Tim hardaway and Allen Iverson said he was a beast
We definitely need to see KJ next! One of the most underrated PGs in NBA history!
Tim's cross is still among the best ever. No carrying just a real ankle breaker.
47:16 - 47:57 I love how Q describes swag/confidence. CLASSIC "I know you didn't say nothing did you?" "Who want it?" Loved it!
ya'll been going in with the guests man...damn, legends up on here
Tim ‘IN YO FACE’ Hardaway
This is the 5th time that I've watched this episode. There's just so much Chicago humor on this one
This man droppin gems💎
💯💯
I had the Tim Hardaway shoes
Tim crossover he size u up and u new it was coming his was tough 4real
Especially on the iso at the top of the key, you knew it was coming because his dibble would become more aggressive with deep breaths for each dribble just before he hit em with it.
Isiah Thomas was my favorite player and it hurt me when Hardaway tore him up on the baseline with that crossover and blew by him with a floater as if he wasn't there.
Mo betta yo 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Tim got byron scott from lakers yo i was like yo gs gave lakers a good exciting series though but scott was skating that game 4real..
@@kelvinboyd4847 waiting for the fellas to get back ballin in Disney I was watching on NBATV a few weeks ago some ole skool playoff game with GS and the Lakers from the early 90s.
Hardaway was straight shreddin the Lakers' azzes up. I mean forgotten play after plays that didn't even make it in his career highlight reels.
Kevin Johnson gets a lot of shout outs. Best Converse shoes ever!
Mr. Handles…you see him break ankles, it changes your life! He was really great 😊
Great player. Happy to see that he made the hall of fame.
Tim is the man! Thanks for liking my autographed 1/20 card of ya brotha!
Came back to watch this episode again the day after he was inducted into the HOF! 👏🏼
He definitely should be in the Hall of Fame.
he has the most explosive crossover ive ever seen...some have quick or fancy or complicated dribbling...but his is pure explosion
Timmy, you were ma favourite PG back in the days .Peace out from Poland!
Great interview knuckleheads
I could listen to Tim all day. It's like listening to a OG uncle
Yo this was a great interview
I watch every episode, I wait for these to come out man. Much respect ✊💪 I love learning about the people and the game.
GODDAMN THIS MAN IS JUST GREAT
this man is part of the greatest era of a hall of fame class!!! He went to work respect Mr Utep-2Step #ballislife
Love these two!
Guys, Q & D Miles,
I can't thank you enough for what you do & how you've enriched my life. As a long-time b ball fan, & a player up until the age of 14 or so, when it became clear that my 5' 8" frame wasn't gonna allow me to realize mg dreams & become a dunker (outside of the 8 foot hoop my father had installed in the garage), I've loved the NBA as a kid & later on as a Blazer fan during that amazing run we had with Bill Walton winning it all against the 76ers in 1977, before Bill fell fatally & ruined his knee pretty much for good.
But I married a British girl in the early 90's & moved to the UK & later France. Except for a few finals during the Bull's & MJ period, little was available to me in terns of watching & following the league from that period until very recently.
Thanks to your Knuckleheads podcast I'm catching up. Through you all I'm making up for lost time & getting reacquainted with all those great players & personalities I'd missed out on for the past 30 years & more. I'm starting to feel like I was there, courtside, from everyone from the Clippers to the Timberwolves & across the league. So thank you again, awesome dudes, for going to the trouble of creating this awesome podcast, & for asking such insightful questions of players & coaches from the NBA & of course the WNBA. Salut, les gars.
Can you get... Larry Johnson, Ron Harper, David Rivers, Adrian Branch, Willie to the Glass, David Wingate, Mark Price, Brent Price, Georgetown Reggie Williams, Corliss Williamson, Coach Nolan Richardson, Pitino... man just get everybody. Your show is... essential now!
I'm from miami and when he got here I fell in love with that crossover
To both Q and Darius , I fucking love you guys man.. youboth Real Dudes with Real shit to say , you always show appreciation and love and give respects and shout outs to those deserving.. Ya'll inspire me to show more love to folks. Big ups 🙌👊🔥
He's a Hall a Famer
Not the ball with the tittie!!! 😂😂😂😂 That shit is CLASSIC!!! Salute to y'all Kings 💪🏿
Tim Hardaway is the original handle man...everybody wanted that low touch the knee crossover...Respect the architect 💪🏾‼️
KnuckleHeads is the only reason I hit the sub button. Good one.
That Dude Was Nice. Always Killed the Knicks lol. I’m glad to see he’s doing well. You can tell he put a lot of work.
All the Guards from the early 90's say the exact same thing about Kevin Johnson... He used to terrorize Point Guards in the 90's.
I’m loving this ! Y’all got all the legends! 🔥
This is a awesome interview!!! Keep more content coming. These young men have hit their stride. Keep up the good work.
Great episode! Run TMC
D. Miles missed his chance with a better start bench cut question. He should’ve done Zeke, Wade or Rose. Chi town best guards ever next to Tim
Man that’s an easy question
of course its Isiah, then 2006 Wade or 2008/ 2011 D Rose ?? Prime Rose > Prime Wade. Rose was more athletic, explosive, DWade was very nice but a Prime Rose was the most physically gifted guard to ever play the game, yes more than Westbrook by a sliver
you a legend tim hardaway yall keep doing yall things
Yo everytime somebody mention pj brown i always remember him flipping the Heisman charlie ward
In miami/NY series smh
Lol
Very very great interview! Well done.
Been waiting 🔥🔥...keep it up..East saint
