    Aries reminds me of every old head at the barbershop. Every thing today's players do is wrong and 80s/90s basketball was so perfect lol. I absolutely hate arguing with people like that. I may be one the few people who actually have a ton of respect for the guys in the 60s and don’t simply write off the era as “it was only three niggas playing” that’s just not true at all. I love the game, played the game a decently high level and respect the game deeply but this how a lot of y’all sound.
      The era you grew up watching is KING and nothing else matters. You don’t care that Embiid is the first center in 40 years to average 30 or that Jokic broke Wilt fucking Chamberlain’s decades old PER rating and is quietly having one of the best individual seasons ever. There are guys now who would look like absolute superstars in the 80s/90s and they can’t even make All-Star teams today.
      I love basketball, all eras, I sleep breathe and shit hoops. I respect the game but at the end of the day the bullshit has to stop. The game moves forward. You can either get down or lay down *Beans voice*

    I’m only 31 years old but my favorite game to rewatch is still pistons vs pacers game 2 in 2004 that didn’t even make 73 points it was all defense and ugly offense but you saw everyone’s heart in that game and that’s what the nba is missing now yea high scoring games look good but I just wish it could go back to that every possession means something

    You aren't seeing new athleticism, you are seeing more players that are athletic. Aries mentioned top names of the game doing things. But now, players 15 - 20 are just as athletic as 80s-90s players top 7. Matt McClung just did it in the Lakers last game, and he played in the G League all year!

    I hate when people say the players are soft, no the NBA rules are soft...after Malice at the Palace, Stern did not want the NBA seen as a thuggish organization. Implemented rules so that anger and aggression is lessened and heavily penalized...the players adapted but you want to see how hard these players are, watch the playoffs...you can tell these players go hard

      I just watched the Sonics vs bulls game 6... and the guards back then couldn't even create there own shot and dribble... I'm looking at GP with his back turned on the 3pt line all game. I see why Jordan won those defense all first teams nobody went at him and him and scottie was killing people going down hill attacking ...physicality means nothing to someone coming down hill or is threat to shoot from anywhere and have unlimited crossovers and hesi moves... at some point we have to look at the tapes and factor in evolution... shit is blasphemy talking bulls beating the warriors

    I hate this assumption. Todays players play to the rules and play style that is set for the league. If any of these players played at the park outside or open runs growing up, which is likely, they know what physical basketball can be. If todays ruled allowed them to be as physical as back in the day, they would be just as physical and adjust. Its an easy one for old dudes to run to.

      @@zowalk321 they cant control what the league sets as the standard of physicality in the era is my point. Rule changes the league made in favor of the offensive player changes stuff. If the league allowed more physical play, there would be more physical play. But we act like they never played in games without refs coming up.

    Jordan’s free throw line dunk in this era has been windmilled from the free throw line.

Today's rules are soft no contact exclusively finesse game... thus the 3 point chucking and driving to the rim against an open paint area. Bring back hand checking... finesse exclusive players would perish then strength would make a combat. Al about the rules
