  • Instructional video on how to change your oil and filter on a 2005 Yamaha R6. Hopefully I touched base with all of the important factors but then again I am not a professional.
    Capacities: w/o Filter Cartridge 2.4L
    with Filter Cartridge 2.6L
    Oil used: 10W-40 Motul 7100 (ester)
    Oil Filter: OEM Yamaha Oil Filter (5GH-13440-71-00)
    Drain Bolt Crush Seal: OEM Yamaha Crush Seal (214-11198-01)
    Tools: 4mm allen, 5mm allen, 17 socket, oil filter socket, 3/8 ratchet, rags,
    oil drain pan
    Cameras: GoPro Hero8Black, Canon Powershot G7 MKII

    Both oil and filter can be changed without removing any of the lower fairing. Simply remove the reservoir cover with the screws and you have access to the oil filter.

    Your not supposed to screw the dip stick back in when you check the oil!!

    Yo, I have the same bike as you, 2005 Yamaha R6, I've had mine since 2015, plan on keeping her until the wheels fall off. What front fork sliders do you have? I have woodcraft frame sliders for the engine and some rear stand sliders but not for my front and I would like to get some. Thanks for the feedback!
