Its time to see if the Galaxy S9 can be made totally transparent! Samsung has been building their smartphone lineup with glass back panels lately. And the color on the back glass, along with the laminate layer, can be removed completely with a little persuasion. While I dont recommend doing this to your own phone, since so many things can go wrong, Its still a fun project to watch.
I started making clear phones back with the Galaxy s7, after I saw a picture on Reddit of someone who had done the same thing. I think that Samsung should start making Clear S9's for everyone. What do you think?

Every time I've accidentally broken something glass, I've had that exact thought but just 1 second too late.
I opened the back of my note 5 to change the battery and scratched the paint on the back side in the process anyways so I made it clear

Alex West-Parden no not really but jerry rig everything made a video on the note five too and mine looks the same exept I peeled a layer off the wireless charging pad so you can actually see the wiring

the black plastics he calls useless are actually the antennas, so removing them makes the phone reception significantly worse. I've done a clear s7 and s8, and after removing the black plastics like he did in the video, both phones had consistent 1 bar or no reception so beware :)

If you think plastic is the antenna then you don't understand the whole concept of electromagnetic radiation. Specifically electrical induction inside an EM field. They may be helping with the antenna by they are NOT the antenna.
This is much easier to do than the older galaxies. I did transparent on my s7edge, but the NFC covered everything underneath, so I had to abandoned the NFC piece to make it look good.

I get you want to see inside as it looks cool. But one fatal mistake, you cut the rear antenna out as well. Those grey to kinda gold color lines on the black rear plastic is the antenna's. They are needed. Look at the back of the plastic, you see the connection points. PEOPLE DON'T DO THIS MOD THIS WAY, YOU WILL LOSE YOUR RECEPTION , OR MAKE IT WEAKER, PLUS A GOOD WAY TO DESTROYED THE TRANSCEIVER IN THE PHONE DUE TO HIGH SWR.

You could use something more permanent but it means the phone mightnt be able to be opened for repair in the future without sacrificing the glass

Sooo, I wanted to do this since I got my S7e but never felt like sacrificing my water resistance for aesthetics. I sent my S8 away for repairs a few days ago and started using my old S7e with the screen cracked, and yesterday I decided I would do this just for the kicks and giggles since my water resistance was already gone and it's not my daily driver. Today I experienced a clear drop in my cellular signal, basicly never reaching 4G unless I was close to a tower. Turns out some of those plastic bits I removed/cut to pieces was antennas. Did you really use this S8 (S9) afterwards or is the antenna in the S8 (S9) differently designed?
Anyway, I'm not bitter. Phone looks dope and I can always put at least most of the plastic back in there. Might do that later. Was kind of liberating when I accepted my phone was a hi-tech mp3player and I stopped trying to refresh reddit. Just wanted to throw it out there, haven't seen any of these videos mentioning the antennas.

Just did this to mine! It is suuuper cool! I had a cracked back glass panel, so I took the opportunity to replace my aging battery and I bought a clear glass panel and all the adhesive on eBay. I'm really happy with how it went!! Great video!

All phones with transparent back looks great, hope some one takes it seriously and have them sold in the market.
Easiest way to clear rear glass is to leave it in lye (sodium hydroxide) hot water solution overnight. Then you can peel sticker off with just 2 fingers in less than a minute. Like I did.
Do a camera teardown on the S9 i want to see that variable aperture tech!
The white lines on the top plastics look like antennas for wifi Bluetooth and cellular signals. Removing those plastics will help to lose the signal strength of wireless communication.
