I’m just glad to see Earl is still active.

true. living legend
One of the greatest 9 ball players of all time. Still playing at 61 years old.
clearly not Pyle that is LOL
Pyle is a total gentleman. He hugged Earl with affection, he laughed at his own mishaps as they happened, he is so cheerful and wonderful. We have to give Pyle our love and admiration.😍
How did Pyle become a pro? He was so bad its not even funny.
@@dannyboy4140 Are you sure it's Danny boy? And not F**kboy?
@@alexandersupertramp7353 pyle could not make three shots in a row, could not even do preparations. Even hustlers in local pool bars are much bettee than him.
@@dannyboy4140 👈 So why wasn't "Fuckboy" playing him on CZcams then?
I miss Sargent Carter. He and Pyle were a good team.
I couldn't stand Earl when I first got into pool but over the years of watching him I've become a fan and have the greatest respect for him
Earl is rly misunderstood person
me too
Same here
Ditto
Earl is a maestro, and a legend.
What is with Pyles stroke? Levering sideways at impact? Whaaaat???
It's good to see earl still has his temper . I did the installation for the tour in Dallas Tx I was one of two crews . Seeing them in their prime was spectacular .
Love this guy been watching him for 40 years, and he can kick ass on the 10 footer ask Efren.
Very gentlemanly gesture to give Earl a hug at the end of the match by Pyle.
Any amateur or non ranked player would hope for winning at least one game.
And that's exactly my question/comment above.
This Pyle is not Tour-level. How did he get into
the biggest 9 ball event in the world? Was there some local
wildcard tournament? I'm not trying to sound mean, but I am a very accomplished player
but have never seen a skill level like Pyle's in this kind of tournament. Anyone have any info?
This match would of been even better if the two commentators wouldn't constantly make negative comments. Earl is a master and innovator of this sport. Christopher might have had an off night. Either way they are there playing. Give them some respect.
The commentators seemed to be being pretty kind, some of those misses were very uncharacteristic.
@@neuvocastezero1838 yeah, even the play was a bit strange, on the 6th rack it made no sense for him to play across the shooting line for a long shot when he had easy position for the side pocket
Commentators aren't even good players like most that do casting. They literally don't know the shots or just bullshit.
The back and forth banter is what we need for the sport. Literally makes it fun and friendly. Earl's quick cue action needs to come back, not that dumb stroke stuff. He obviously proves you don't need it. All in your head and you don't need to stroke your cue 50 times before hitting a ball you obviously know thousands of times before.
Also the 10 minutes studying the shot before shooting and picking off imaginary lint off the table is absolutely maddening to watch.
@@JohnS-il1dr what you talking about? It’s got a shot clock, there’s no such thing as 10 minutes on one shot 🙄
I'm just glad to see Earl is still alive.
In his prime the greatest 9-ball player of all time. Earl “The Pearl” Strickland
Still one of the best players in the US today and is quite capable of beating any top professional today.
@@timmyg000420 I agree 100%. Recently I’ve seen him really bear down and concentrate almost beating the very best in the country. I have the utmost respect for what he has accomplished throughout his career.
42:38 “I tried to pull a Corey Deuel shot” 😂😂😂
COREY DEUEL PLAYS HORRIBLE. A LIABILITY AT EVERY MOSCONI CUP
@@PostUp_Time So maybe that wasn't the compliment I thought it was.
We are all guilty of trying to impersonate the prince of pool
@@JoshStodola that’s right
You've got to love the man, he's such a legend. Hope Joe Rogan has him on his podcast. Earl was old school cancel culture, he got so much hate from not wanting women competing in the men's events, I think 70's? Would love to hear some of his stories!
F**k Roe Jogan
The greatest shotmaker in the history of pool, Earl the PEARL !
No question about it! Nobody, I mean nobody pocketed balls like Earl. He didn't even have to play position well which he didn't a lot of times. His ball pocketing was so sound it has to have been the best of all time.
There is no way anyone can tell me this Pyle dude wasn't coked up for this match.
Was looking for this comment! Found it quickly lol
Hell, he certainly was shaking but doubt it was Coke.
Wouldn't you be?
Just understandably nervous.
Doubt it, it's just his skill is a bit low for getting past the first round in a pro event, the Fargo rating is in the low 500s which is like a B- player. He would be like a 7, 8 tops in the APA out of 9. Then you stick the player on a feature streaming table vs one of the best of all time, in front of a crowd, there are not many players out there not used to playing pro players that would handle that very well without nerves or being shaky.
At 7-0 it's good to see Chris Pyle smiling and laughing with Earl. And stop picking on Earl. He's an entertainer. And he has been that way forever. Let the man be. I love it. The crowd loves it. The world should all love it. He's such a great person.. respect to both these players. I know Chris probably had a lot of nerves goin against the pearl. Respect to both these men competing
@29:21 wow, look at him shaking. I never seen a player that nervous. You just have to expect that you will lose and have nothing to lose.
Got to give Pyle some credit for showing up and playing.
Yeah, he never really got a chance to get loose and comfortable. I'm sure he's far more capable than what we saw here. At least he got a front row seat to see a true master of the game, and Earl was shooting well.
@@5000rgb Most of us would have been a shaky mess if we were in the same position as Pyle. He is really a good sport. His composure while losing is legendary now.
Wtf is Pyle? He does not look like a real pool player. Missing a lot of shots, could not make preparations, and just utterly all over the place. Its so unprofessional
Yes, he had to be beyond nervous. But everything about his game just seemed like he didnt belong there. his stroke was scary bad. Why enter a tournament of this magnitude? I guess dont beat a dead horse though.
@@macturff25 You enter tournament like that to gain experience, so hopefully next time you can fight through those nerves.
chris pyle's fargos rating is 527 so sure he was nervous but he's also just not that good of a player.
edit: and i hope that doesn't come out too harsh, but obviously in comparison to earl the difference is pretty big.
What I would give to see Robo-Earl one last time at the Mosconi cup
If one of the greatest players in the world can't be allowed to criticize the equipment when it is needed, then who can?
But was it actually the equipment or he mishit a ball and left himself short? Then to comment later that it rolled too much. Can’t have it both ways. If multiple players were complaining, it’d be different. But they weren’t, Earl just loves to bitch at perceived issues instead of himself hitting a ball badly.
@@Diasx It's very hard for anyone to judge the equipment without actually playing on the equipment, personally. Yes, Earl does like to give his take on things, but I would tend to take his word on how the equipment plays, since he is the one actually playing on it and is a true champion. And, I would pay attention to his opinions over that of the commentators or the promoters, who either don't know how to make such judgements, or who would tend to have a bias favoring the company who would normally be the ones sponsoring it, and donating, setting up, and promoting the tournament, and so would therefore not dare to be critical of their equipment. Kudos to Earl for having the courage to speak out, and being able to do so without worrying about fear of reprisal. Because, if the players are afraid to ever be critical of the equipment, then things will just roll merrily along and they will never be changed or addressed, much less properly fixed.
Besides, I don't watch these games so much for the repartee, though I do find Earl more entertaining than most. But, I do watch them to see the best possible pool being played, and on the best and most consistent equipment available. This is the way the game of pool will elevated to a higher level, both for the players and spectators, alike.
Love Earl and he is finally getting all the rolls
It's like he bought the whole bakery
I mean he’s playing a literally pleb lol
*EARL IS THE LAST LIVING REAL ROAD PLAYER. HIT THE ROAD TO FIND POOL HALLS AT AGE 15 WITH A BACKER. RECOMMEND WATCHING EARLS DOCUMENTARY, ITS INTERESTING*
CJ Wiley played the road quite a bit. Danny Kid Delicious Basavich did, too. I think the old school road players are fun to watch. They come in with a swagger like a gunslinger ready for a shootout. The young guys today look like they are getting ready to take their SATs.
@@5000rgb Us oldsters remember the distant past. Yes, you had to ENTERTAIN as well as play a hot game years ago.
@@5000rgb the modern players all shoot like robots now like the Chinese players.
Old but gold
Saw The Pearl at Hard Times in Bellflower Ca. 2003 ...and Bata. What a privalage OMG
Wow it just so happens Nick is a great pool announcer he should expand to other sports too!
Christopher Phyle shakes his cue a lot just before he shots....that's why he's missing the pots....
2021?
Earl's a legend!!!!
Living legend !
this poor dude is literally trembling you can see at 11:44 when he steps into the shot... oooof rough
I've never heard of this pyle fella. But he seemed super nervous. Anyone know if he's knew to the televised big crowd scene? He sure played like it.
I think so too. TV nerves
He’s pure shite, let’s be honest
hes 527 fargo , just not that good.
In my eyes, EARL is the GOAT of pool. I don't care what people think. Earl's talent just never going to happen again ever. No one has ever or will ever come any where near his level. I picked up the cue after seeing Earl on CZcams. One of my dream is to buy Earl a drink or dinner or play a game and get pool lesson from him.
Earl reminds me of a chess grandmaster. Is in his own head so much, it comes across as very eccentric. If only he’d stop blaming the table for his own issues
Imagine what he could accomplish then. It is annoying that he plays so well and then complains about imperceptible flaws.
@@5000rgb He still has such an amazing stroke, it’s the element of John McEnroe behavior that has always lessened my view of him. The age of the brilliant asshole has passed.
Make more matches engaging and interesting and we will be on the map some day!!!!
Who did Earl play in his next match?
Guy had some major nerves. GG
Earl deserves a comeback in the pool world. I want to see it happen
It's happening! He's in the Mosconicup!
@@robdetuinman2 I KNOW!!! WOOT-FN-HOOT!!
With all due respect to Pyle but this was hard to watch…I’m trying to understand why anyone would enter a $1000 tournament and you can even run 2 balls in a row….someone please explain…
Best ever 9 ball player in my mind👍
Without a doubt...his passion and compete level is in a universe ✨️ by itself
Matchroom, up your game. Add chapters to the video 5 seconds before each break.
waited my time with this game
Earl perfect features to star in cowboy movies .
Earl still has a tremendous stroke, keep it up!
I didnt know that amateur could enter this kind of event. : ))
U.S. Open. All anybody needs to do is pony up the buy in. Cheers
Earl king of the pool....
I mean, Zielinski blanked Pyle 9-0, then Strickland did the
same in the backdraw/double elimination format.
He simply cannot be a regular Tour player.
Anyone know anything here? Does pool grant wild cards like pro tennis does?
Gotta love earl the pearl 🐐
Anyone knows who is commenting the match? I recognize one voice from the big snooker events.
Those are the strange metaphors and forced segues of Phil Yates. The other one is Nick Schulman.
Poker player
The hell was that long frame of atlantic city, a where's nucky thompson screen?
I wish this were on espn so i could have it on at my bar
Me too but they show corn hole WTF
Where is bata
4:06 Kelly "I bet I felt it more than you" lol
Just curious, would happen to know if Kelly has any relation whatsoever to Allison Fisher?
انه لاعبي المفضل... ايرل ستريكلاند متعة اللعبه هذه فقط وفقط
Good job earl, Pyle was a good sport, but that stroke needs ironing out. Can't make a ball if your not delivering the cue through the cueball in a straight line
Is Pyle first time playing pool? xD
How did Chris Pyle get into this tournament? He couldn’t finish the seven nine with ball in hand?
Easy, he paid a $1000 entry fee, that's why it's called the Open, it's Open to anyone that wants to piss away a $1000
He paid his entry fee. This year because of Covid there were more spots open for weaker players.
There’s always dead $ in this event.
It’s cool, if anyone wants to play they can.
@@Fatboypool Since it is an “open” tournament, I was thinking he qualified until I saw him shoot. Pretty cool anyway.
Great game Earl, one of the all time greats.
But the other guy .... geez. He is on an amateur level. How did he qualify for the tournament? Really really low level pool from him.
Is this really 2021comp or 2022?
2022 is next month
Commentators don't know the difference between the speed of the cloth and the bounce (or boink as Earl calls it) of the rail itself @28:40
earl play with a break cue???
2nd game Earl starts his talking again
😂
Pool is fortunate to have Earl the pearl Strickland
I agree, The table played very slow...
It's too bad the most prestigious tournament in the world has to rely on dead money. It takes away from the legitimacy of the event.
Doesn’t seem to hurt Derby City.
again issues with the sound sync... amateurs
Pyle's cueing is very odd. I've seen it before, but rarely at this level.
Pyle is the average amateur player.. he's not even near the level of a pro
Has this other guy ever played before?
What are the names of the commentators?
Phil Yates and Nick Schulman.
1
Go Earl as an European i hope you will be picked to Mosconi and crush all.
Beat Strickland and Reyes back to back and they said the TV equipment was broken…
Commentators, don’t understand the pearl.
The man is a one off.
These boys commenting are still trying to figure out why they have to wait for momma to change their diapers.
Earls just his stage name it's really fast Eddie
If Earl does not complain, i will not be satisfied.
Semangat om pyle 🎉
DO ALL REFEREES HAVE TO HAVE PONY TAILS?
Pyle need to learn from me 😅
Feel bad for pyles you can tell he so nervous he shakes at the end of his stroke, but I don't blame him, as I would be to lol... I would need a shot or two of 151, to play on the main table with earl just tbh lol
He put himself in that spot by buying himself a $1000 ticket to compete. Lots of amateurs don't understand the skill levels of pro players and think they can actually win. Most pro players train 6 to 10 hours a day, every day and have been for many years. Next to that, Earl still runs at least an hour a day at 61 yaes old to keep fit.
For the amateur it's a great experience and lesson whether he plays good or bad or is nervous.
Everyone should be a commentator; therefore they have the right to pass judgment on what the competitors wear. I'm sure they are dressed correctly (in their mind).
I am not watching his game. I am watching him.
If Earl is in mosconi I’ll pay !
So you can be a 2 in APA and just sign up and play in the US Open….???
Wow, little shade thrown by Earl at the end. He said he couldn't shake hands because the other guy was so bad. I guess that's why Earl only offered a fist bump, and Chris awkwardly grabbed Earl's fist in his hand.
Who are the commentators?? Sounds like Nick Schulman lol
Yes, it's him.
@@bildrwic3 Nick does pool?!???? I obviously know him from poker but had no idea he does pool
@@FluffiestWalrus He is not a pro or anything, just a fan of the game and obviously a great commentator.
I'm sorry but I'm trying to be as courteous as possible while also
dealing with reality.
This Pyle simply cannot be a Tour player. Even with nerves and playing my favorite guy Earl,
he doesn't have the goods.
Anyone out there know about him? Was there some local wildcard tournament he won
giving him entry?
Would like to see Earl change his nickname from Pearl to "RAMBO"! Just needs to get himself a bandana, few tats, and change his accent a little. A gimmick like this will get him a bigger following and with proper marketing can add a few million dollars to his net worth!!!
Mr Pyle is a gentleman, but I cannot figure out how he is a professional player
Earl kinda sounded like sleepy joe biden when he said "c'mon man! theres water all around us" lmao!!
42:58 Que?
The opponent plays two week in his live Pool maybe ?
“ I can’t shake hands” WTF Earl the squirrel?
there is no equal opponent against earl, other than magician efren reyes, every earl against efren, he definitely can't smile like in this match, he can only scratch his head when fighting efren wkwk, but i miss earl fighting efren. please make an event for them
When nervous shoot with ur non-dominant hand✍🏾📈
I know Pyle can shoot way better than that, and I feel bad for him. You could see he was nervous and that takes a toll on you.
Christerfer got his ass kicked!! 😳
Cris pyle was just nervous because he was playing earl .
Did Earl said "this guy is so bad i can even shake hands whit him..?
They picked up just an amateur player so that Strickland would practice his forgotten skills on him, funny game. But Earl still on fire 🔥 👌
What a Pyle of
probably has trimmers
