- 9-BALL - EARL “The Pearl” STRICKLAND and Netherland’s NIELS FEIJEN “The Terminator” played the best 9-Ball you may ever witness at the 2014 Derby City Classic. Their TPA’s were off the chart! Strickland, 52, the five-time U.S. Open 9-Ball champion, just snapped off the 2013 Turning Stone Classic. Feijen, 36, later in 2014, won the World 9-Ball Championship. In 2013, he took down Darren Appleton to win the World Pool Masters title. Fasten your seatbelts!

It's actually amazing the few times, especially
in 9 ball, when he does miss.
This Feijen guy (my 1st time ever seeing him play) is all business.
He reminds me of the pro tennis players who have a monster serve but not much else.
Watching Earl spin the cue around, then Feijen sort of pushing it all over.
For me it shows players at all levels that super solid play, few mistakes can do the job.
Reall impressed with Feijen's control, both the cue and his temperment.

@@shortydancer yeh just reading now, they crack in half! It's a shame coz they're the nicest balls. Aramith do boring colours, well I think anyway. I'm really into colours and I think that 9 ball colours are traditionally quite boring shades of those colours.

I’ve never seen the official get uptight with the cue ball placement on the break before. It looks like you have to have the entire cue ball behind the head-string to be legal.

Who is the guy that thinks the break is lucky? Like yes and no.. how do you not know this by years of experience?? I just got done watching Jayson shaw soft break 10 ball on a 10 foot table and there was a constant ball going into the side pocket almost every single time he broke the balls. That's not luck that's what he's trying to do and he's doing it. The break is luck but not fully. There is skill to it. This game has such a high skill ceiling it's insane. Everything you do matters everything you do changes the game

What is the point of the shot clock if they are not going to call a foul when it expires? I counted 2 times it expired on Neils. Most blatantly while he was shooting the 2 ball on the last rack at 1:08:52.
This one is different. It can expire as long as you stay on the shot, no getting up.
As long as the player is "addressing" the cue ball, it is not a foul when the timer goes to 00. If the player gets off the shot or starts looking around, then it's a foul.

What is the concern over the rack? Is it illegal if the balls are loose or something?
They are supposed to touch. If you leave an opening on one or more certain spots you're chances of making a ball go up. And the break is everything when they shoot as good as they do here

I think that Earl, in his prime, could just arbitrarily choose a pocket if he had more than one. He surprised the announcers with I think the eight ball in the center then went one rail for the nine. But he could’ve gone the other way too. I think it just depends on the table and his mood that day maybe.

Earl is such a bully until you stand up to him and then he backs down like the baby he is lol. Love his game but hate is bad attitude. Niels is such a nice guy and his videos have really helped my game, so for Earl to say something bad at the end to put a downer on the win for Niels is just embarrassing.
I agree with you on all points. Very unprofessional of Earl. Not sure what he said to Niels but it didn’t look like a compliment at all.
@@honkhogan21M I don't think so. Earl conceded the game which is a respectful gesture when the opponent is on the last ball. He seems to be encouraging Niels at the end. I doubt he was saying something rude.

I have a lot of respect for Earls game, but his attitude makes him hard to like as a person. Any time something doesn't go his way, he complains and acts like a toddler. Such a shame
True, his behavior sometimes leaves much to be desired, but he is the ONLY player who will applaud when his opponent reaches the hill, like he did in this match. Can't think of a player who loves the game more than Earl.
@@chemlnarik5835 I've seen him do that but honestly can never be sure if he's being genuine or not. I've seen him sarcastically clap after someone has fluked one ball and gone on to win a rack. As I say, he seems very child like at times unfortunately.

Ohh cmon Jumping is a skill. Why prohibit it? Besides it is still not 100% that if you jump it, you would necessarily hit it and pot it. Hating jump shots is a dinasour mentality.
The ref should rack if Earl is going to stand over the opponent every rack just to hold the game up and act like cry baby every time something isn’t going 100% his way. Great game Neils!!!

It's absolutely ridiculous that they allow "slop" in professional 9 ball pool. If Neil's wouldn't have gotten the lucky slop shot in the side pocket, then Earl would have won this match.
