Its been wet as hell even all the way out here in eastern NC. Like a swamp in my yard. That pistol is awesome! I just put myself in the doghouse and bought one. I bought a Taylor's and company drifter in .357 mag. I will have a video out in a few days. Thanks for sharing man.
I hear ye! I never knew a mountain could be as swampy as this one is, but then we've had our share and yours of rain here in the last...well....long while...lol. I'll check out your channel and keep an eye out for the new Drifter. Thanks for the heads up!
Nice smoke wagon, Merry Christmas to you and your family and wish you a very good New Year. You can paint the sight for elevation. Take it to a smith and have the barrel " turned " for windage. Thank you for the shout out and your thoughts and prayers, I really appreciate it. We will be posting vids in a few days.
Yeah I tapped the top of the front sight over to the left a bit like I do with any of them that need it. Need to shoot it more and see what's what. Merry Christmas to y'all as well.
Ayo!!! You carry the old revolver. If I was old enough to carry a gun, I’d have a more traditional gun belt etc, plus the spare rounds are nice. But nonetheless, not many people wear these
Cool gun man and looking forward to a video of you shooting it. BTW weren't we complaining about how hot it was here in Alabama a couple months ago,and now we have a cold, wet swamp lol. At least the sun is out down here in Blount Co this Sunday afternoon.
Absolutely. I prefer Fall to dusty 120% humidity and 220-degree heat indexes, but I's still like to walk across my backyard without a life jacket..lol. I should be able to do some shooting on camera tomorrow or Tuesday. Thanks!

Hello Friend. Do you see much difference in this weapon quality for an Uberti El Patron or a Tylor? Which would be better in terms of quality, machining, and fitting of parts. Thank you, I await the reply.
Thanks. The local dealer I bought this one from a few days ago had a EAA Bounty Hunter in .45 Colt with a 7-1/2" barrel. Made me want to take two guns home instead of just this one.
@@plowboysghost well I have two .22 rough rider revolvers... But I wanted one in 45 or 357...and found it in 357 ..so I went for it. It will take a few months but eventually I will finish paying them off..meanwhile it will give me time to...come up with a plan to explain it to my wife how and why I got them..lol
I much prefer classic single action revolvers instead of double action revolvers and semi auto pistols. I love my Uberti 1858 with the drop in Howell .45 colt cylinder as well as the factory Remington conversions made by Uberti and the Uberti 1875 and the the Uberti and pietta repros of the colt SAA peacemaker but I also like the shorter barreled versions of it too like this one
Hey Plowboy, I'm not real sure, but I think that's polished stainless made to look like nickel finish. If so, you can file that front sight with no worries. But like I said, I believe I'd call or make sure before I did.
No, it's really nickel. The dealer thought it was stainless, but in person I could tell it was nickeled steel. When I got it home, I looked it up and verified that. Called the dealer and told him it was nickel. He was surprised.
Yeah, the Uberti "Old Models" Blackpowder frame reproductions are still 4-click. That wasn't clear when this video was made. Congrats on your new sixgun! My local dealer is expecting the same model in this week, and I'm Colt SAA-clone poor at the moment, so who knows...I may end up with it.
I just got bought one yesterday. By the way, they're up to 599. It's a nice revolver, nothing like my Ruger's but nice enough. My first concern was the trigger pull on this nickel plated 45 was real heavy. Did you find the same issue?
Great gun! I've got a blued one incoming. I'm 99% sure they pulled a bait and switch on me. What I looked at and ordered was the nickel one, and I come to find out they're sending me the blued one. They (guns.com) refuse to waive the 15% restocking fee for what was either a mistake or unscrupulous on their part. If I made an innocent mistake (which I doubt), I think that would be cause enough to waive the restocking fee. As it is, shipping it back to them would cost me around $50. A**holes. I'll never do business with them again. So back to the fun! Here in the summer of 2021 ammo is still expensive and in short supply, and 45 LC is like finding a needle in a haystack. So, I'm going get the nickel one I wanted in the first place, but in .357 so I can have better access to ammo.
Seems like it would work. I may just shoot it a little more and vary the front sight alignment/height by taking a different sight picture with it. It's close enough that doing so shouldn't present a real hassle.
I know you are a shooter and if this revolver is a shooter I wouldn't worry about filing the front sight... plus some find it hard to pick up the shiny front sight if it is sunny, so taking off the nickel on the front sight might be very beneficial... just my thoughts... I care about the quality, reliability and shootabllity of my firearms... your revolver is beautiful and a little less nickel won't change that
AND... I just found a stainless front sight I bought in about 2002 for the ruger Vaquero i had then. Looks like the same length and width, but a bit shorter like I need it to be. Don't know if I can get the old sight out without damaging the nickel around the sight slot, though....but it's another option.
For the most part, generally speaking, I like the Italian clones/reproductions. I know a 4 click Cimarron Pietta or Uberti doesn't have the prestige of a Colt, but it doesn't have the price tag, either. If I were a collector with an eye on value retention/appreciation, I would buy a Colt. I am a shooter, so I'd rather have 3 or 4 Italian shooters that look good and shoot great for the price of 1 Colt that I wouldn't want to risk scratching. That's just my personal opinion, though. The Rugers are a different type of gun to me. A Vaquero/New Vaquero may resemble a historic sixshooter from a distance, but they are something different....though strong and durable. Like a Blackhawk, they are more "utilitarian" to me than they are "western" or "historic". I like my Rugers just fine, but they aren't what i put on when wearing my more western clothing/hats/leather and in that frame of mind.
@@plowboysghost Thank you for the reply. I bought another colt and a couple Rugers, one blackhawk in .45colt and one Vaquero in .357 both the rugers are 5.5” models and the colt is a gen 2 7.5” model Calvary. They are all equally cool , but there is something about that colt that puts a simile on my face every time. I have ordered a Cimarron 7.5” .45 colt . It's a duster from Scully Rangewear. This black one in the video is an XL, and is too large for me. I'm going to put it on FB Marketplace and sell it soon. The "walnut" colored one in later videos is a Large and fits me good. ( for fitment reference, I'm 6'2" and somewhere around 215 lbs, now. Was probably 225+ in this video)
Probably will. I was worried about messing up the nickel finish by filing on the front sight to raise the POI, but I found a stainless front fight for a vaquero I had back in 2002 or so, and it's shorter to start with, so it'll all work out.
From what I've gathered, all Uberti manufactured SAA clones are now Cattleman II retracting firing pin systems. My 2017 Taylor's Uberti Smokewagon deluxe is, and Cimarron confirmed Uberti's swap in a phone call a few months ago. My SmokeWagon with Cattleman II system is still a beautiful gun, but the two Cimarron Piettas I own are functionally closer to original Colt than the new Ubertis.
The way it was explained to me was that only the Cattleman models would have the retractable firing pin system, which is why I went with the Cimarron Model P, which mine does not have that. If this is not the case than I am certainly misinformed. I just double checked on mine and it is 2017 manufactured.
@@DukeFrazierProductions That is odd....especially considering what I was told by Cimarron on the phone. It's not impossible that we had a miscommunication, but I really doubt it. I would still maintain that the Cimarron Piettas are functionally closer to original than even the non-Cattleman II system guns with the little built in hammer safety that my 2013 Cimarron Thunderer had.
