    I would love to make this for my cats! I just wonder if I can use some aquarium tube as a boning, which I have lying around here, or do you think it would be too soft? 🤔 And I'm thinking to use an old shower curtain as it makes sounds while playing and it's lighter too...? What do you think...?

    I wonder if you can do your update on your aquarium grass carpet that you started from seeds. Are they still growing and such?

      I do need to do an update to that video. I would not use the plant seeds again. The seeds did great for about 3 months, but after that they started to die. I started using CO2 in the tank about two months after I planted the seeds, but even with C02 the plants started to die. By month 6 more than 80% if the plants were dead. I ended up fully replacing the plant seed plants with already established plants. The tank is fine and so are the fish, but I was told recently that those plant seeds are not truly underwater/aquarium plants.

    Hi. I don't have ferrets but do have an african pygmy hedgehog that I make things for. I made a tunnel today. My fusable fleece did not stick properly and I landed up having to sew it. Is there a special knack to working with it? It is the first time I've worked with it.
    Thank you so much for your DIY stuff. I enjoy your channel and have learned a lot.

      The fusible fleece can be tricky. I put a towel over the fleece so it doesn’t burn and then I put the iron over it for about 5-8 seconds at a time, I also set the steam setting on my iron, which may make the fleece a little damp, but it drys fast. Because you have to cover the fleece with a towel and you can’t leave the iron down for the 20 seconds you would if you were working with cotton, it can take a few times of holding the iron over each spot before it sticks fully. It’s definitely a time consuming process.

    Great tutorial! What size boning did you use?

    • @FerretTails
      @FerretTails  Před 2 lety +1

      I use 1/4” boning. The length kind of varies on the size of the tunnel, but you will definitely be able to tell when the boning is all the way around. I overlap it about an inch just to be sure it goes around the whole end.

    Where did you purchase the Pellon fusible fleece?

      I got it from Joann fabric, they sell it by the yard, but you can also buy it on Amazon.

    Do you know if the fleece at Michaels would work for cage liners?

    • @FerretTails
      @FerretTails  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes! it will absolutely work. I actually just did a custom order for somebody And the police they picked was from Michaels and they turned out great.

      I got from Amazon amzn.to/3KDarFR amzn.to/3KDarFR
      but you can also get it at Joann Fabric in smaller quantities, but it’s a little more expensive per yard than Amazon unless you have a coupon. www.joann.com/dritz-1%2F4in-boning-white---sold-by-the-yard/8588683.html

    Would this still work without the boning?

    • @FerretTails
      @FerretTails  Před 2 lety

      Yes, but the ends may not stay as open, although, they should stay open enough for your pets to get in or wiggle in. Also, you could roll the ends back two or three times, it may be to thick to sew over with a machine, but it that would also help give the opening more stability if you don’t use the boning, you could also just add a few hand stitches to keep the rolls in place if it was to thick to sew.

    What sewing machine do you have? I can’t find an affordable sewing machine with that curvy stitch 😭

    • @FerretTails
      @FerretTails  Před 2 lety +1

      I have a Bernina 475. I had to get a more expensive machine after I started my Etsy business, my other machines couldn’t keep up. Although, my singer Quantum Stylist 9960 is a great machine too. I still have it and use it as a back up, but it has a ton of stitches. It doesn’t have that exact stitch, but it has one that’s pretty close.
