I'm taking my first dive this coming weekend into airbrushing, and it's thanks to you and your videos. You've got a lot of knowledge and the down to Earth commentary has made it all easy to digest.
Thanks for all the testing you do, it's a huge resource to the modeling community
This primer never failed, good stuff. Had really bad experience with Vallejo polyurethane ones
I was initially put off by this primer because of bad exeriences trying to hand brush the black unthinned. Then I discovered that some thinning made a huge difference. I now use a Paasche H Series airbrush with them with no problems, thinning with the Vallejo Flow Improver. Immediately after use and a wipe of the cup I drop the cup and needle assembly into warm soapy water for cleanup. Your videos are so very instructive I recommend them to my friends who are getting into airbrushing.
STY - Styrene
NYL - Nylon
REZ - Resin
I've got some Ammo in Sand, Green and think they do a red brown for Armour primer.
One thing I hope to try are metallics over the gloss black - most probably AK extreme.
Yup, the name is a portmanteau of the three types of plastic it works best on. Terrible for marketing, though.
It's
STY - Styrene
NYL - VINYL
REZ - Resin
@@dbroadwayvfx it is indeed. Needed more coffee.
Yup! gloss black primer is best for metallics.
Bought a 3 pack of stynlrez but hadn't tried it yet. Glad you did a great video on it before I tried my hand at it.
I've been a fan of Stynylrez for a bit now, but after this I can see myself picking up the rest of the primers for different paint jobs.
Never had good luck with these primers. Glad to see them working for you.
I've learned so much from this channel, which I consider the best for anything model related. Thank you for all the tips, reviews, and links.
You're welcome buddy 👍
Thank you so much for all your videos. I am new to airbrushing for gunpla and I feel I am way ahead of the curve because if your videos. Thanks!!
The way I’ve been dealing with the white is to spray gray first then put a thin coat of white over the top of it.
I was initially trying to do zenithal highlighting with just the primers but I think it’s a better plan to prime black and use a white paint or ink instead of white primer.
I couldn't get the black to spray out of the bottle with a .5 needle to save my life. I still like mission models primer. It sticks to resin like crazy and Tru-Color sticks to Mission models so staying with Mission Models for now.
Paul from NB Canada again. Thanks for the in depth review. ONE thing to mention is that some of them CAN turn into a Jelly like goo in transit. I ordered a 12 pack of primers on sale and Badger had to send out 3 new bottles as even the guy on the phone said to simply toss them out. BUT what DID work, worked out well.
You turned me onto the Stynylrez Primer when I first found your channel. After using this, I got rid of everything else. Thank you again.
As a newcomer to the scale modeling hobby and a new miniature painter I just want to say your videos are VERY well done with a plethora of information. The how to videos helped me immensely.
Thanks buddy 👍
Another great one! Please don't pick me for that figure. Looking forward for another air brush give away.
Charles I must agree with you brother. Me too soon I'm hoping.
Great primers. I’m glad that you showed all the colors. Very nice gloss black.
I'm a simple man, you paint spoons and I have to watch it.
I spray it with a .3 needle in my Eclipse HP-CS at 30 PSI with no thinning. Works just fine. Also worth a mention is that you can spray any paint you want over it. Thanks for the video!
Thanks, I’m curious how enamel will turn out on top of it.
Thanks, I’m curious how enamel will turn out on top of it.
That black paint is awesome
Just bought my first airbrush this week, ill be buying these primers.
Been using this for ages now, it works best with a thin coat anfd then go back and load it on. I use a 0.4 at 25psi and it is fine.
Your tutorials provide so much great information and you are always trying to help the modeler get the most for his/her money - thanks again!
Great Vid!! I really took to the Stynylrez product with great results... it is nice to see a run of the whole lineup!!
Great product 👍
Bro, by now your channel is like an encyclopedia of paints and I love it!
I really like Stynylrez primer! I've read that Stynylrez stands for the three basic materials it's designed for" STYrene, NYLon, and RE(Z)in. I guess they used a Z instead of an S so people would pronounce it right! Love your channel, I've learned a lot from you!
Another fantastic and informative video! Hands down the best videos in my opinion!
It's cool that they have so many colors available. Thanks for the heads up on another great product!
Great primer, great video, thanks.
and that SD Gundam looks awesome 🤞
Enjoyed the Stynlrez primer painting demo. Thank you for your thorough demonstration.
This is why I watch all of your videos! I have watched probably 10 videos on this stuff and everybody loves it , but till now I have only seen the black and gray sprayed. Thanks for going to such detail.
I appreciate what you have taught me about airbrushing. It has given me the confidence to get back in the hobby. What is is a god stand to hold aircraft models?
Thanks for this review Rex . It's very timely as I've just got hold of some Stynylrez primer and yet to use it. Really appreciate the tips on how to thin it and needle size.
Really like how the first black turned out. My favorite of the bunch and I usually like metallics.
I love that gloss black with color shift paints, looks incredible.
I need to try those primers. I bought a Patriot 105 after watching your review. As an old guy getting back into the hobby, your videos have been a great help. I bought some of the Patriot Extreme parts to put on my 105, tall trigger and the finger rest. Such an improvement in control and comfort. It truly is a great airbrush.
Love the stynelrez primers, now they have a gloss black I can order. Great videos! :)
Have been waiting for a detailed Stynlrez review. Thanks
Fantastic Fantastic video, Thank you very much for and awesome review of the primers !!!! Please keep em coming, everyone keep yourselves and love ones safe and healthy.
Great video! Really liked how in-depth you went with each primer. Thanks for the details with everything you review, I really appreciate it as I'm sure others do. I continue to look forward to more in the future!
Thank you my friend 👍
Repeat after me...oh-she-AN-ic. 😄 Another nice vid. Thanks!
The performance of the yellow over white and the white over black was very impressive 👌 👏.
Thanks for this! I was just looking at some of these and considering getting. then blam, new video answering my questions! Quit stalking my browser searches! LoL! Thanks for your continued great videos!
Great video. I’ve used these primers for years, mainly black & gray. I agree that a 0.7 on my Badger lays it down nice without thinning. I might have to try some of the other colors now.
Amazing! Can see all kinds of possibilities with my model cars!
For gaming pieces and anything thats going to be handled or moved a lot Stynylrez is my go to primer.
I use lacquer thinner to clean my brush when using Stynlrez, much faster and better than regular airbrush cleaner. Just my opinion.
A few things that you may not know yet, Idk, but 1) (I learned this from Gilbert Mondragon) warming them up with a candle warmer works marvelously to improve the flow and mixing/shaking/stirring capabilities; 2) (I learned this one by asking Ken Schlotfeldt at Badger) you can mix acrylic inks into these (don't go overboard) and make nearly endless variations of primers with them; and 3) mixing these primers with one another works AMAZINGLY.
Thanks for this, I had asked about mixing. Thank you
@@bobrivett7645 you're welcome, and I'm glad to be of help.
OMG!!! Thank you for helping with your videos!!! They are a great help!!
Appreciate this test! I have been trying to decide if I should purchase Stynylrez for a while now. Now I know I def need to buy these.
Thanks for the review! Was interested in the red brown for German armor, and I’ll def try after seeing this.
Crazy how just a change in pigment alters the flow of the primer.
Great video as always.
hahaaha my metal head brother!!! good vid as usual!! I have the grey primer of this brand..its awesome! you got sum kool giveaways too!!
Men this one are suuuuuper...sold!!! Thanks always for the reviews..👍👍👍👍👍
I enjoy your videos and their very informative. I have just started using Stynelrez and I have to say it's the best primer I've used. I have found that you can indeed use it straight out of the bottle and at 25-30psi it goes on great and auto-levels great. Also, I have found when using it straight a little goes a long way!!!
Your videos are super helpful, but now my shopping list is getting huge!
Good review. It was surprising to see how the product self leveled. I've never used a.7 needle but might have to try it. Thanks!
Stynelrez Black and White are my go to primers; I really need to get into the habit of color priming my models with reds and blues so I'm happy that they make a full range to pick from - thanks for the giveaway!
Oh happy day, you have been picked for the giveaway !! send me an email so I can get your info triggerfish65@gmail.com
Awesome video! I use the Badger primmers all the time and can also recommend them!
Thanks for the video, might have to try some of these out.
Hi Rex. Thank you for another great review. One thing that I would add is that if you end up with dried Stynylrez in your airbrush the best cleaner I found is Denatured Alcohol (Fuel). I use the Kleen Strip brand in the blue can from Walmart. Also I bought that vortex mixer in this video based on your review and it is one of the best things that I have added to my workbench in years. Having a consistent paint mix has made a huge difference in my ability to spray acrylics. Thanks again and keep up the good work.
Nice review. Those primers will be in my collection real soon.
Great video. I can’t wait to get some of these primers to closer match top coats. Thanks
These are awesome, you will love them for sure
Boy that was a Fantastic video , I just love how you explain everything in detail and you are a fantastic painter I love the primers and I am going to buy a whole set because I want to paint cars and I’m thinking about your paint on top of the primers and I want to put clear coat on top so thank you for this great video you have convinced me to get the primer and I think it’s from Franklin Park Illinois a suburb outside of Chicago within 5 to 10 miles from where I lived thank you sir !
great video, can't wait to try these!!!
Golden makes an airbrush medium that is awesome! A lot of airbrush thinners are alcohol based, which kinda exacerbates tip dry. The medium helps.
I have that on my shelf. Works great with pigment Powders too
Very informative video I have used some of these primers and have been very pleased
Thanks for turning me onto this primer! 👍
That Badger sold out quick! I have a Procon 289 (.3mm) but it would be nice to have something with .5 and .7 for such a good price. Maybe I can catch it next time. Thanks for the video!
I love Stylnrez primer. I've been using it for a couple years now.
Thanks again for another great informative video!!!
Never used these primers. I am going to have to pick some up. I have several models that i need to finish up. Thanks for posting this review.
Really liked the copper and the blue.
Good stuff, I'm tempted to try them now!
Thank you for this video! Was looking to buy a bigger needle so I can spray my primers with and I think I’ll get the badger always wanted to have one.
Loved your video mate again you outdone yourself
New to airbrush, you made it seem so easy.
I had to get the metallic primer! It just looks to awesome for tank paint jobs!
purchasing my first airbrush this weekend might have to try these primers out
6 kits into the hobby im just trying spray cans for first time thank you for all the info !
Wow those primers look great
Great video. I'm not a big fan of the white, but really like the gray and black. I've found that after time (4 months), straining it through 190 micron mesh really helps, as it seems to really settle and clump, even though caps are tights and all that stuff. I like that it lays down thick unlike Vallejo which is really thin. Take care and have a great day
I been looking for acrylic primer right on 👊
Thanks, need some new primer so now I know what to get.
I`ve personally used your thinner and cleaner, and have to say works great.
Colored primers are heavily underrated and Stynelrez is the way to go for them.
funny I was just looking for primers and in various colours. Thanks always enjoy your vids.
wish I owned the hobby store near you I would be rich you seem to buy everything lol
Great video for introducing primer. I always wanted to find one
Zup bro! Gonna be trying the black-gloss!!😎👍🏼
Awesome!!!! Thank you so much!!!! Much appreciated!!!! 👏😃👍😎🤘
I spray Stynylrez using a .3mm needle @20 PSI. Never thinned and never had an issue with a decent airbrush. Tip dry is prevalent with it if your air pressure is too high and every one of my cheap airbrushes seems to suffer from it since they move way more air than they do paint.
A friend of mine swears by Stynelrez primer. I need to try it.
Thanks for the video. I going to get some of these soon
Thanks for the videos on these primers
I got the white, black, and grey a couple of months back. These primers helped me realize that my old airbrush was crap and I needed a better one. It would dry really easily on the needle mid project and I'd have the disassemble and clean out. even with thinning. I went off and got an eclipse, and after a little thinning no issues.
Great video, thanks very much. I have had challenges with the white primer and I haven't used any of the other colors. I will give it another try and see how it goes. This time I'll thin it and use some flow improver, along with a bigger needle. After watching this, I may try some of the other colors as well. Thanks again, have a great day. -David
Good luck my friend. You should get better results. Plus the other colors are great to have on your bench.
I’ve wanted to try these primers. Thanks.
This has to be the largest catalogue of primers i've ever seen
Great video, as always! Two hours after posting and the Badger 3 in 1 deal is already sold out :D
