This concert was 42 years ago. The music hold up. It makes me sad to think that these Coconuts are about 63 years old now, assuming they were all 21 at the time of the concert. Thanks to video technology, they will be forever young and fresh.
So love the intro with them getting in the zone before the introduction, dancing laughing... The band could seriously groove and was so tight. A joy to watch!
Thought truly travels. How are all of us reliving this song decades ago- all a few months a part? LOL! Thanks to Golden Decade sent the vibe to me! Got to thinking let me see if he did stool pigeon live!
@@ShakesTheClown46 Just to be clear about it, August Darnell & Crew are like Straight Outta 1970's Bronx. There are deep strong currents of music flowin' (and Freestylin') down the Grand Concourse, but also that Subtle yet Deliberate Theater of Parody and Powerfully/Joyfully Grooved Funky Rhythms. But now to some POV's, that like Fundamental Creativity, that's all just another 'Act', in the Cut Purse/Throat Trenches of 21'st Century Musicology. But August & Some New Coco's, they're like Still Kickin' IT:-) Show some Respect!
Absolutely Brilliant These Coconuts are the Best .
KID CREOLE AND THE COCONUTS.....THE GREAT...GREAT BAND...NEVER FORGET
What a great band.. Pure class.

Amazing band
one of the best live bands ever x
Thé Coconuts the sexiest creation on God's earth
They were a great backing group and they knew how to move to the music, which was a serious part of the show .

Dance, music, vocals, wardrobe they had it all. Why this NYC act was more popular over seas? I'll never know.
It is a crime that there isn't at least half a dozen well produced concert DVDs available for this wonderful band
can't understand why this band wasn't more popular. they are great.
@@HolyRollerTV nonsense jesus
They were popular , like really popular
2023..en nog steeds verliefd op de coconuts. Stijlvol en cool.
Comme c'est beau ! Comme c'est bien !
My friends say" king Creole and the who ??? Wish i had seen them live.Truly a great live band.Watching all vids out there.😁
Great footage! The band gave that big crowd quite a show!
Kid looking cool and the Coconuts looking so hot . My Coconuts poster went on every army posting
YES, I was there too !! ;-))))) Was GREAT !
They were definitely an underrated band, it’s a shame they weren’t more successful cause they deserved to be.
They were massive ,
The reason they weren't more popular is because they were 20-30 years ahead of their time - before retro became cool.
yes - the Swing revival really came in the early 90s - they were already doing that kind of music in the late 70s/early 80s
Cheryl, Taryn and Adriana, Coconut dream team.

Awesome!!! 👏👏👏👏
Очень музыкальный, весёлый и позитивный был в те годы этот коллектив!!! 👍⚡✌
Chaps and Chapettes, upvote!!!
Adriana looking sooo hot
reminiscent - Prince - beats - knew kid creole and coconuts - way prior to Prince - Love Kid Creole / love Prince / Love the Coconuts!!!
Wasn't this solid rock-bottom wonderful ambiance??? I still get 'sizzlings' seeing this!
This was an ensemble that put in the hard work!
Most bands should have a few Coconuts around, to brighten them up a bit. Just a thought.
oh bravo .. .
and again . . .
I wish I could have been there.
✨
omg , Prince was a copy cat, Kid Creole is the king of funk
Prince was a copycat - everyone is to some extent - but not of August Darnell. They were contemporaries. Prince was going strong in 1982.
You got that Right. Pure Truth n' Beauty', In Yur Face:-)
Yes, prince was going strong in 82, and the first to admit Augusts influence. Hence his trying to write a song for him, with little success.

Kid and his gang were more into exploring and expoiting the humour elements in their potpourri of musical influences. Prince was more serious-minded.
amazing, so glad to see this.
Do you have and own the entire concert footage?
we do not own the footage
Do you have other take? Is it the only concert ,of those years, outdoors and during the day!
Thanks for upload
