Seriously it is perfection. Vegeta letting go of his pride to blast Cell, Goku yelling nows your chance and Gohan giving literally everything he had left in the tank to finally kill Cell.
That strobe effect when Gohan gives it everything is beyond words of how exhilarating it is

Cell is still the greatest villian imo. So many fantastic scenes in his arc.
Hmmm. It's tough. I think Frieza is a bit more iconic, though the series was peaking in the cell saga. We got SSJ Vegeta and SSJ2 Gohan and the androids and all the cool shit I associate with DBZ post Frieza. But in The Buu Saga everything got really sloppy. All the transformations started getting... silly, and Buu wasn't a very compelling villain, and IDK.
Cell was definitely the boss of the peak though. As a story, the Frieza saga is best. As a television action anime series, the Cell Saga is easily #1.
@@hansolo631 I see your point and agree Frieza is more iconic but I still feel the Cell Saga had more iconic moments. Gohan going SSJ2, Goku sacrificing himself and Gohan killing Cell for example.
@@spectreshadow There's no "ssj2" in the original story before all the added stuf that came afterwards. Gohan is the only Ascended Super Saiyan, being the hybrid of the race. A saiyan with human emotions. Those "ssj1-2-3" etc notions came in the goofy stuff added after the story ended. It's like watching Boruto.
I dont think he's a very good character but he is a cool villain, he's not as compelling a villain as Frieza or Vegeta was though
the dub voice actor is, well, PERFECT

This scene hits different now as a dad
Look very closely at gohans face right before he launches the blast,
First he looks stunned
Then he realizes the moment has come, he has to put everything he has into this one moment and you see him grit his teeth ready to unleash it
Finally you see it all come out, all of the emotion and energy he was holding back,
Gohan, the half saiyan half human that wouldn’t hurt a fly has fully accepted what he needs to do to save the planet and he has to let go
He can barely believe he's getting one more chance at it.

By far the best Dragon ball moment. SSJ2 Gohan is the peak and the best in my mind, this scene is watched yearly by me. There's not many scenes that I rate as the peak of this Anime but this is #1 and the Goku Kamehameha against Kefla is also up there. Iconic moments

Im a firm believer that this is DBZ’s as an anime peaked. Nothing in the Buu Sage could top this moment. Yes…Fusion, SSJ3, Goku’s Spirit Bomb was awesome but it didn’t have a desperate, built up “end it all” final stand moment like this.

DBZ Kai had music that wasn't nearly as good and didn't fit the scenes! This is one of the reasons I prefer OG DBZ!! Better soundtrack especially Bruce Faulconer, better voice acting, filler episodes were actually GOOD!
People will say "YOU'RE TOO NOSTALGIA BLIND!!! DBZ OG SUCKED!! KAI IS BETTER!!" Said no real DBZ fan! The only good thing about Kai is that it followed the manga! THAT'S IT!
Yeah in OG DBZ the voice acting & music was much more suspenseful, emotion provoking & engaging

@@hansolo631 Damn right. Music is such a crucial factor of emotional experience in movies, shows and videogames. Faulconer's score gives by far the best emotional involvement. I remember the horror I felt with the androids, the epicness of Piccolo, the power of Goku vs Cell, the hope from 16, the fear when Cell came back and the sheer amount of pressure all released in the most intense moment of them all when Gohan killed Cell as the Ascended Super Saiyan. All because of the soundtrack by Bruce Faulconer.
