    Hot Take: They should swap the functionality of Mauga’s charge and Rein’s charge, for both gameplay and lore reasons.
    It makes far more sense for Rein’s charge to function like Mauga’s currently does. A huge, lumbering man in armor should be unstoppable and immune to CC. Not to mention the fire effect makes sense with that rocket booster on his armor, and he should be bowling people out of the way. Plus, that heavy stomp already acts like a miniature earth shatter which is more cohesion with his kit.
    Mauga on the other hand can struggle in those close-up engagements with small hitbox heroes, and having the ability to pin one and do massive damage would help him greatly. Plus, it kind of fits that rugby play of stuffing another player into the wall. And, Mauga’s whole identity as a “berserker” should have a weakness to CC.

    Cold Take: Venture is so annoying because they were designed with 250hp heroes in mind. Think about it. If it was season 8, would they release a dps that does 80dmg per shot, 70dmg melee, 110dmg on one ability and 100dmg on the other while getting shields? Of course not. That would be crazy OP with 200hp heroes. Everyone else was designed to kill 200hp heroes and after the health increase has relatively lower damage, but venture was designed for 250hp which is why fighting them makes you feel exactly as squishy as you were in S8 and before.

    Hot Take: Quick Play is not only an awful place to practice, but it's easily the worst part of Overwatch/ Overwatch 2 as a game overall.
    I've been playing since release in 2016, and didn't actually go explore with other modes like Arcade and Comp until late Overwatch 1/ Overwatch 2.
    As a result of that I absolutely hated playing this game but loved everything else about it (outside of not feeling like I had a character who fit my playstyle).
    But QP is literally the most asinine mixture of low ELO players pretending to be sweats in a game mode that literally doesn't matter in any capacity, as they attempt to rob any amount of fun from other players by tossing slurs in chat when they're losing, demanding character swaps or pockets, and making either their own team or the enemy team lose out on joy by being "scoreboard sallies" as KarQ so eloquently puts it.
    As a result it has more toxicity than comp, and less fun than say doing Elims in Arcade or Events like mirrorwatch.
    The only time when I feel QP is actually as much or more fun than Comp or Arcade is when HACKED weekends happen or the april fools event ... wait the april fools event was also in arcade, nevermind. 💀

      @sayyestosporks Před měsícem +1

      I won't say they don't deserve to play, but why should the rest of the game have to suffer if someone leaves mid game? If you have one leaver, you're likely to cycle through around 3 players until someone sticks and picks a hero. Just because it's not ranked, doesn't mean that the people playing the game done deserve a good playing experience too. Back filling into a lost game with less than a minute left is so annoying.

    Hot Take: Awarding “comp points” for Quick Play wins, even at a massively reduced rate like 3 per win, would improve comp matchmaking for low ranks because people wouldn’t feel like they had to play comp just for gold guns, and hopefully at least some of the people treat comp like QP already would just play QP instead.
    But for this to work they’d also have to fix how comp points work *in* comp because it’s ridiculous that we went from 25 pts per win to 10 pts per win on too of removing end of season rank rewards. I know they’re trying to incentivize people to play more but it just feels BAD.

    • @lizabeth529
      @lizabeth529 Před měsícem +2

      They were trying to get people to play MORE with that? I got a couple hundred comp points in ow1, thought about playing comp for the first time since ow2 launch to get a golden gun and when i saw that shit i just said nah im not playing that much comp

    • @Raksoforback
      @Raksoforback Před měsícem

      A win gives you 10 points immediately but also counts as 1/10 of the way to 100 points, so 20 points total. For the first time even losses progress towards the points. For the entirety of OW1 and first 3 seasons of OW2 it was no more than 15 points per win, aside from end-of-season rewards - which I agree should've been kept but just make it legacy points only, so people can actually get Jade/whatever other variants there'll be in the future AND Gold weapons, not choosing between one or the other.

    • @Raksoforback
      @Raksoforback Před měsícem

      @@lizabeth529 End-of-season rewards aside, in OW1 you needed 200 *wins* (15 points each) for a golden gun, which with a 50% winrate means 400 games. Another Hot Take: (I'll try and keep the background in the read more section, But basically-)
    Life Weaver is a more viable support than Mercy/ higher tier than her, and has a similar skill ceiling to Baptiste, but that skill ceiling doesn't manifest as DMG+HPS, it manifests as screwing over the enemy team + HPS.
    Why I feel this way? I'm a Illari+Lifeweaver main. I play alot of Mercy, Kiriko, Ana, and sometimes Lucio whenever they're needed/ I used to main them before dropping them off my personal roster for any number of reasons (I still love Kiriko).
    A good lifeweaver can keep your teammates from ever taking damage in the first place, can keep the enemy team from touching the objective(s), can create artificial choke points, can actually create some really stupid combo play with other teammates like Rein and Cassidy, cancel enemy ultimates and abilities (Bastion Barrage, Mercy Rez, Sigma Ult, etc etc), but above all else the thing that gives Life weaver that "Swing the game in your favor!" factor, is sheer control!
    This came to me in a fit of concussed stupidity as most things in this game do😂, just a few minutes before writing this I was playing a wide match of comp, we had a tank who seemed half asleep or just incredibly new, they were playing horribly, running in on their own, and getting killed or leaving us vulnerable and spaceless so we could BE killed.
    My 3 choices as Illari were either out aim and out damage the 4 people on the enemy team that were swarming us, try to out heal the incoming damage from the 4 enemies swarming us, or follow the tank and help them kill whoever they were chasing only to inevitably come back and find us outnumbered and out team dead (all of these end badly).
    tl;dr changed to Life Weaver, and blocked *our* Tank from doing the same things over and over that were getting them killed, and gripped them back when they were running off on their own or when it was just a legit team fight and they were on the verge of dying.
    Mercy hits CTRL-Z on someone dying, Lifeweaver makes sure the mistake doesn't happen in the first place, and in a game where enemy-uptime is so important I'd absolutely say Niran is better than Angela in this specific facet/ category!

    Hot take: the terms "situational" and "niche" are used too often to downplay how bad characters are in a majority of situations. Yes, having a character be strong on certain maps and contexts, while not being as strong elsewhere is fine. However, when a hero is considered good ONLY because of strength on 1-3 maps, then there is an issue.

      Take zen as an example with junkertown, havana, and circuit. While he doesn't have the most egregious disparity, his value gets so inflated by content creators saying "he's outclassed everywhere else but on these maps he dominates." It gives a false impression of his strength and allows people to overlook his issues bc he is so strong on three (3!) escort maps (note how it's never control, push, or flashpoint).

    Tanks that are weak to stuns should have a built in window of vulnerability to CC instead of always getting hard shut down when stunned.

IM only keeps players from falling below 20% HP meanwhile Suzu make player invincible, intangible, heals 80 HP, cleanses all debuffs for an addition 30 HP if the debuff is worse than a head cold. That was every hero except for bastion, reaper, venture and tracer. Bastion and Reaper only really have damage. And you could argue that even a Tracer who doesn't do good damage still contributes by making the enemy team always have to turn 90 degrees or 180 when attacked from behind, or force them to swap to something to counter the Tracer. Also I didn't include any ults in that list apart from echo's (but echo offers the most utility in the game).

    Hot Take: With the removal of the 2nd tank, and the new heal reduction DPS passive, tank is not only the hardest role to play in OW BY FAR but also one of the hardest roles to play in any competitive online team based game. No other role in any game has as many in game responsibilities as tank, and no other role in other games gets blamed as much as tank. You can play perfectly, keep track of everything and you will still get blamed most of the time if you lose, even if it's not the tanks fault. Combine that with the fact that tank is the least played role in OW, it's the hardest and most often least rewarding role in OW. Anyone who dislikes the upcoming tank fixes should play some tank games and see how miserable it is most of the time. Yes, I am a tank main.

Playing games with my friends is stressful and very difficult. We basically have to gameplan around what I can or can't do and the win rates aren't great. It is good practice and it helps in my solo play but in many ways playing solo is far more chill and fun.

    I'm confused. You state here that you feel 6v6 was more "deathmatchy". This is counter to what everyone was saying on OW2 release. Examples (paraphrasing): "5v5 feels faster. There are more skirmishes." - "OW2 is much more deathmatchy compared to current OW." - "OW2 is more about your individual skill and less about your team as a whole."
    So, it might just be you misremembering but its not that hard to find videos about OW2 beta that are counter to what you claim here.

When I play qp and have leavers, it’s only really annoying when they just give up after first or second fight, when it is still very winnable. But if you’ve been trying to win for awhile and the experience is just horrible (qp is just for fun after all) I don’t see why you need to be punished. It’s especially bad when you just want to learn a new hero like ball, but then you get counter swapped by everyone. How can you learn a hero if you don’t even get a chance to breathe

    I personally enjoy 5v5 over 6v6, however, I can see how queueing up for the Tank role isn't as fun as what it used to be. Especially when both the DPS and Supports have another person that they can rely on. I'm not a Tank player by any means, so this doesn't affect me at all. But couldn't Blizzard add a separate Tank role to queue up to? For example roles would include: Tank, Shield Tank, Damage and Support (1, 1, 2, 2). This would allow the game to go back to 6v6 and avoid the issue of players picking 2 shield tanks, which causes too much busyness on our screens (which is what Blizzard wants to avoid). Obviously, I think more tanks would need to be added into the game first before doing this (not that this would ever happen, but it's nice to pretend). I don't see a reason as to why they couldn't physically do this as there used to be separate roles for Defense and Offense back in OW1. Again, I'm content with 5v5, but I feel like this could be the solution that both the players and developers could be looking for. Sorry for the long comment!

I think a lot of tank players are unhappy because they get too caught up in the tank duel when they could be in raid boss mode hunting squishies. This is from a D2 perspective btw.

      I disagree completely. Tank feels worse to me every single season. Forced to play a different raid boss tank or else you legit get counter swapped by all 5 no matter what you play. Solo tanking is cringe and dead. But I respect the actual hot take

    Hot take : more skill demanding heroes should be oppressive if they are played correctly

    • @maxchess6734

      The thing is, making a hero very strong (oppressive) makes getting a minimum value out of that hero very easy (like on tracer, and I suck at tracer)
      Like, at the current state of the game, it takes more skill to play junkrat than to play mccree.

    I do NOT need symmetra to be good. I hate everything about that god awful character.

    I think instead of balancing the tanks. They should make new roles like a MOBA. Such as a “tank, brawler, dmg, and support”. That way you can mitigate the pressure the tank has on them to make space and take damage all while keeping balanced damage output.

    Hot take: I like CC. I come from MOBA games, not FPS games. I don't find them "unfair" at all.
    Bring back Flash Bang and Mei freezing enemies (lower primary DMG)

    There is no world where a penalty should be in any unranked mode. It’s foolish

    STATING-THE-OBVIOUS-TAKE: tanks belong to the support role. 2 dps & 3 supports role que is the best way to mitigate elo hell in all levels.

    People are so determined to leave quick play games. I understand people have lives and that's fair. But if there's enough leavers, it just ruins the mode. Because honestly, if you can't play a round with all 5 team members there, it's not really overwatch anymore. And if it gets bad enough, then you get people going into comp just to have an okay game, but they dont want to sweat, so it messes up the game for real comp players.

    Naw you off on quick play. These penalties are insane. It’s quick play. People leave and come in constantly and it does hardly anything.
    It’s not just about losing or stomp. I’ve seen half my team in a circle dancing. I had a doom and a mercy jump on the boats in Rialto like they were on a date while the game was going on. And a thousand other things. I didn’t even like the old penalties, but these new ones are making this shit unplayable. It’s quick play. Y’all try hards go competitive.
    And also being locked out of every other mode is also dumb. What an incentive to just turn your game off and play something else when I’m locked out of everything bc I left quick play.
