1:33 DAMN Roy had a goatee at age 6 lol
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hahaha 😂🤣
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Lmao
1:25 That's nothing compared to when he was Born. Dude's Physique kinda fell off after his infancy.
Roy Jones Jr had no questionable chin, he fought guy's that were very dangerous in today's standards and made them look merely average. It's only later on, when Jones recked his weight management after winning the heavyweight title that he messed his legendary body
Yea he simply was not a natural heavy weight, an likely only went heavy for the money an against wishes of those who cared about him
@@josephgeorgeejr7039 it was for legacy.t b the only man since fitzimmons to achieve this
You can only say that after he turned 35 because Roy went undefeated in three divisions prior. In that time Roy beat not one but has wins over not one or two but three legends in Hopkins,Toney, and Tarver.
I think this person posting is just tryin to get more clicks with that statement. Thirsty 😑
Go back and look at his record he fought no killers
One of my best friends and neighbor! We met back in 1996 we both played on the Jacksonville barracuda basketball team even though he's 10 years older than me! He's just a down-to-earth good father country boy loves to fish and ride horses and I got him in the collecting cars as you can tell by my channel I collect nothing but high in cars! Just all around great guy that fought way past his prime! His heart said yes but his IQ and speed said no but he's the only middleweight to ever move up to heavyweight and win the championship belt! Everybody have a blessed day take care
I was a young Coach with The Raleigh Cougars... USBL
It's utterly facinating to watch Roy Jones Jr.
His athletic abilities and style is just so Rarely seen. Some people are just special. Beyond normal. Beyond even most the talented individuals. Something different
Roy Jones JR was one of the best I ever seen putting pair of boxing gloves he just didn’t know when to stop like many of the great ones. Still a champion
"move like a bat, sting like an asian hornet"
he's incredible, at a distance you would think why even initiate a throw but then he closes the distance so quickly with this front step and in that motion he can do whatever he wants, he can feint and redirect THE SAME HAND within half a second
I was lucky enough to have been a boxing fan when Roy fought, it was a treat to watch him in action like no other boxer, his hand speed and accuracy were off the scale and I enjoyed his commentary work afterwards. I've always like Roy, seems like a genuinely good guy as well. 👍
@Vercingetorix lol, yeah well, ahem he may not have been the most technical commentator, lol, but I just like Roy so I enjoyed hearing him join the guys at the mic and i always enjoy fighters commentating because they point out different things and make interesting comments from their own experiences boxing that you won'thear from the other commentators. One former champ turned commentator years ago, Sean O'Grady, made a comnent that really stuck with me about taking a bunch of punishment to the body in a fight, " Oh, he'll really be hurting when he wakes up tomorrow, and the next day it will be even worse - but then it gets better." I thought, ugh, that's coming from experience.
You’re opinion is retarded. He’s awesome at commentary.
I used to love watching him fight and how he’d toy with people
Great career for a super talented fighter.
His love for the game might've kept him around a bit too long, but he's far from alone in that regard.
These documentaries keep getting better and better!
1:34 Jesus, he's 6 in that picture? Bro's a beast!
Lmao when he was describing Roy and he said “questionable chin” I lost itq🤣
What's missing for Roy at that time of his life against Tarver was his legs he didn't have that mobility like he had in his early years but he fought because that's what's in his heart that's what a true champion does
Nah. Jones was an athletic freak of nature; he was a genetically gifted athlete. He had poor boxing fundamentals, but he could get away with it because of his superior athletic abilities. Watch his fights carefully. You will see that he lacked the most basic boxing fundamentals. He didn't even keep his hands up to his chin. He held his hands at chest level. He could stand in front of his opponents, with his hands held low, and he could still avoid punches because of his ultra quick reflexes. But once he started losing his speed, he had nothing to rely upon. He had no fundamentals to fall back on, and that was the end. He started getting hit more, and he couldn't do anything about it. Watch the Tarver fights. He still held his hands low. But now he was older and not as fast. And Tarver nailed him with some good shots.
@@user-sg8kq7ii3y poor fundamentals ? dude been boxing since he was five he has Superior boxing skills all that stuff you talking about is creativity that he could get away with
@@paulchandler9060 "...that he could get away with..". Isn't that EXACTLY what I said?
@@user-sg8kq7ii3y not my disagreement what you did say was he had no fundamental skills in boxing and I'm saying you're wrong he has Superior fundamental skills beyond top level skills in boxing
@@paulchandler9060 What I mean is that, because he was so athletically gifted, he could get away with things that others could not. Like keeping his hands low, crossing his feet, chin held high, etc. Put another way, if I were teaching a young beginner kid how to box, to give him examples of what good fundamentals are, I would NEVER say to him, "Watch Roy Jones Jr." Instead, I would say to the kid, "Watch Marco Antonio Barrera. Watch Michael Carbahal. Watch Jesus Salud." Watch Alexis Arguello." Those guys had GREAT boxing fundamentals. They weren't flashy. They kept their hands up, chins down, they had solid basic footwork, and every time they threw a punch, they immediately brought their hands back to their chins. THAT'S WHAT I MEAN.
He is a cool 😎 dude out of the ring I met him in New Jersey years ago and he is a very humble man
Maybe the best I’ve ever seen in his prime. Unbelievable!
Legendary live eternally! This man is one of them!
Saw the Seoul Korea Olympics decision live. There was nothing controversial, everyone on the planet knew Jones was robbed.
I also think the other fighter showed little class, by even accepting something he knew he didn't earn.
We love some RJJ!!
Great Job Dad!!!
Roy’s chin was fine, he got old. It happens to everyone. Depending on one’s style it varys how they do in their old and how long they can keep fighting. Someone like big Foreman could fight well into his old age because he was smart, could hit like a train, had decent cardio for a big man and knew how to conserve energy. Also he could take a punch like almost no one else. Roy on the other hand fell off pretty quick because he relied heavily on his athleticism. But when Roy was in his prime I’d say he’s the best I’ve ever seen at that weight. It’s ridiculous.
Roy is the GOAT in my opinion 🥊
Best hands to me, along with Ali and Sugar Ray. Roy is my favorite boxer ever, but Boots is the remix💯
Jones always had HEART!!!!! 💪🏼💪🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️
The ruiz fight should have been included because i think that is the pinnacle of his success as a boxer.
Absolutely love Roy jones 🙏🏼💪🏼 win or lose he’s a great champion/man
Roy Jones was speed and reflexes, it was a gift and a curse, his legs got him out the way but when he got older and it made accessible for the right opponents to hit him. But he will always be one of my top favs
Dear lord, get some help with your grammar.

The funnest boxer to watch, ever.
Nah not even close
Ive never seen someone get knocked out like that and with sheer will power got back up to his feet - Dood was a monster
Even in his prime I saw that Jones, if against the ropes had a bad habit of not tying up an opponent and actually letting opponents wail away on him. Eventually it had disastrous consequences.
Definitely a great in the boxing world super fast and accurate ,,a legend 🤙🏽
He was just a extremely elusive boxer with inhuman reflexes, quite literally , after his reflexes faded later on his career he went 📉
In his prime, Roy Jones Jr was unstoppable.
@ 1:33 RJ Jr. had an impressive mustache for a young man at the age of six!
Had Roy not blown up to heavyweight, he may never have suffered a KO, and would have kept the speed to beat Calzaghe and others. But his legacy is secure, and he’s the greatest boxer of my lifetime.
Ray jones was a really great fighter but the best in America is not necessarily the best in the world ..When Ray Jones was totally destroyed by Joe Calzhagi - who was 36 and retired Undefeated , - he came across the guy who was the best ,fastest, undefeated champion for over 10 years in the world. Watch the fight without predjudice and see who was the best. Before demolishing Jones, Joe Calzhagi beat Brewer, Destroyed brave Jeff Lacey completely and defeated Hopkins in his own country - despite the considerable cheating and academy award class acting and racial taunts Hopkins produced. . Joe Calzhagi rarely got respect from the USA who continually over hype their own fighters..
He should've never moved to light heavyweight. There's a difference in a man that naturally carry that weight than a man who has to gain it to fight. Had he met Calzaghe when they were young. That would've been a all time great.
heavyweight was his worst move
@Vercingetorix It wasn't the weight persay it was having to cut the muscle to get the weight right same thing happened to tarver after rocky movie
@Vercingetorix not sure how it was less stressfull but ok I just know he was already taking a risk fighting at lhw going up just finished him off dehydrating your muscles causes less punch resistance and he came back so soon after the first ko that second one ended his chin and head she'll after glen Johnson ko
@Vercingetorix you do realize lightheavy weight is 175 rehydration is around 185 he didn't have to cut but he had to shed the muscle off that's difficult to do going down not as easy as you think
@Vercingetorix from the heavyweight gain 175 to 197 all muscle
I like howThey say “Roy at the age of 6” and you a picture of Roy with his classic mustache LOL
James Tony was one of the best natural defensive boxers. But he was also the most undisciplined
What's crazy about that Toney fight is that Toney was a beast back then, but RJJ was wicked...he beat a guy from around my way Montell Griffin twice even tho the first was called a DQ!
Yeah Tony was weight drained though. Not taking anything away from Roy though he still beat him. If you ask Roy who was the best boxer he fought in his career he would say Tony
1:34 at the age of 6. THAT BOY ALREADY HAS A MUSTACHE!
@1:34
"At the age of 6..."
Proceeds to show what looks like a young man lmao
in his prime the greatest to ever lace up
This is why I started watching boxing.
Never the same after the Ruiz fight.
PENSACOLA is in the house!!!!
I want to respond to what Boxing Matrix said at the beginning of this video. The Golden Age Of Boxing is now, you have so many skilled fighters from all over the world, who can fight other top skilled fighters & competition, be able to fight for & win championships, be promoted by conventional boxing means & social media to become a star, & make alot of money.
14:40 2007 punches from Roy jones in one boxing match ? Must be a universe record.
The funniest thing that I've ever heard is that the camera's couldn't catch Roy's real speed. Calzaghe caught it! I hope this was meant to be a comedy video.
Calzhagi made other fighters look like they were stuck in second gear..Undefeated for over 10 years and retired at 36 after beating everybody
The weight jumping at the end of his run didn't do him any favors. Still remember being completely shocked when Tarver KO'd him for the first time.
Jones will always be one of the best it's easy to study a fighter after so many fights it's not easy to beat him and continue to dominate
1:34 "at the age of 6" 🤣
Julian Jackson...Now there was a Boxer and Puncher...
you made a great video! like
GREATEST 10 YR RUN EVER IN ANY SPORT
OG Tarik from Philly salute BOXING MATRIX My boy ROY JONES JR king of the 90s y'all must of forgot!! 👑💯🙏🏿👍🏿✌🏿💪🏿💲🥊🥊🥊🥊💰
A prime Roy vs a prime Floyd would be fucking incredible. I got my money on Roy Jones ALL DAY though😂
Well obviously. Roy was a middleweight/ supermiddleweight at prime whereas Floyd was a welterweight, who started at far lower weights.
Different weight classes "Dummie"
80's and 90's The Golden eras? 90's sure, but 70's overcomes 80's. Nikola needs to learn...
Roy is MY (43 yr old man) GOAT...
Roy naturally built would rule all weight classes now and then. Nothing was questionable about him. At his prime he was unstoppable. RJJ naturally built at all weight classes with his athletic ability would rule, except for Ali and Tyson at heavyweight. He would beat all of these chumps in the sport now.
You forgot to put a couple more greats in that line bro Sugar Ray Robinson, Sugar Ray Leonard, George Forman, Joe Frazier
@@yoshimitsusan7348 Julian Jackson, wilfred benitez
The fastest until he met joe calzaghe.
Spot on..
YOUR INFO WAS A LITTLE OFF AT TIMES. FOR INSTANCE, JONES FOUGHT TONEY AT 168, NOT 175
One of the Greatest fighters ever nothing wrong with his chin messed with his body going up and down in weight
I was a BIG fan of Roy.. even at Light heavy he was a great fighter.. .YALL MUST'VE FORGOT!!
The whole time I was thinking Cameras was a name (reading it like a spanish name) and was thinking, where is this Cameras dude? LOL! 🤣😂
Is it just me or were the fighters in the 80's, 90's etc. better than the fighters today?
Jr is THE BEST
I would have Love to See Roy Jones vs Emanuel Agustus fight. Mann!
His chin wasn’t questionable. The times he got knocked out they were pin point accurate punches that would knock anybody out.
Well, you make a good point: Is it the chin or the reflexes that ‘betray’ a fighter as he/she gets older. Shane Mosley, on that subject said as he got older he could still hit with power, and see the openings, but just couldn’t react as quickly.
In his prime, Roy Jones had lightning speed (obviously!), but perhaps there came a moment when he couldn’t roll as quickly to take most of the incoming punches energy.
I play quite a bit of high energy tennis, and as I’ve gotten older, at net, have certainly lost a lot of that millisecond fast twitch reaction time on balls hit at me hard.
Anyway.., great perspective.., thx for the thought.
i have never had a fight or participated in a fight or been in a boxing club but i have natural talent i should probably begin boxing ive met boxers who have asked me if i have been boxing for a long time
More entertaining and fought more and better opposition
80's and 90's was golden era of boxing (but not including Heavyweight division*)
Tyson was unhittable for a few years and so quick nobody could defend themselves, nobody else has done it like Tyson
But as far as punching speed, Roy Jones Jr. holds the trophy for that in my opinion, he would hit you 3 or 4 times as you were backing up after throwing a punch
Doesn't Roy, my favorite fighter, look as if he is from Ghana? The dude was ferocious.
He doesn't. He looks American as hell lol
Roy's chin was ROCK SOLID, he went "up and down" in weight too fast and fought Tarver too quickly... He should have quit after the first Tarver fight...
If Roy retires afterthe first Tarver fight ..
He goes down as top 5 all time boxer .
.hall of famer and basically undefeated
Why put canelo on the thumbnail? The fuck does he have to do with this video? Put ward or Crawford.
Great fighter, Joe Calzahge was also great.
Joe Calzhagi was 36 when he defeated Brewer, Jeff Lacey, Barnard Hopkins and utterly destroyed Roy Jones and then retired still undefeated after reigning for over 10 years ..That makes Joe Calzhagi the Greatest surely - even if he wasnt American but British ..Shortest boxing video ever - Joe Calzhagi`s defeats .
In my opinion, possibly the P4P greatest of the last 40 years.
bad opinion
I loved when Roy JONES fought Canelo!
great boxer one of the best ever
Bernard Hopkins a true legend
RJ didn’t have a questionable chin. He started losing when he went up in weight and then dropped back down. That’s what made his chin go and he talks about it. If he gained and lost the weight naturally over a longer course of time he probably would have never lost
👍👍👍
“At the age of six...”, then shows a picture of a moustachioed Roy Jones Jr. 😮 😂😂😂
If Roy had not decided to go up and down in weight I believe he would have held his belt much longer
The greatest can crusher in boxing history
Roy in his very prime was the best boxer ever...blindingly fast and way to quick for anyone to handle...the only guy to really beat Roy was Roy himself by gaining 23lbs of muscle to go after John Ruiz for the heavyweight title which he won easily then lost that 23lbs in a short period of time to fight Tarver at lightheavy which sapped his stamina speed and quickness and never was able to regain that peak greatness again...had he have fought Tarver first before he gained the weight he'd have done to Tarver what he had done to everyone else before...I don't know why they never talked or showed his match against John Ruiz for the heavyweight title is beyond me...he out boxed the much bigger stronger man handily to become the only man to win titles at middleweight super middleweight light heavyweight and finally heavyweight...IMO Roy Jones Jr at his best was the GOAT.
First comment.Great documentary on Roy Jones Jr.
It could! I saw it! 🤷♂️
He had a mustache at the age of 6 😂
Final bout in Seul was not controversial. It was an order to award a formal victory to a Korean competitor. A common situation in Olympic boxing and wrestling.
At the age of six he already had a great mustache, according to the video
The Pond for Pound True G.O.A.T. I don't care what anyone says!!
At the age of 6...
Shows pic of roy with a mustache!
Kid grew up fast!
I always thought prime Roy Jones v prime Michael nunn would have been a great fight
RJJ didn't duck anyone either.1 of the greatest of all time.
He had a great chin only when he got old he got caught let's be real!! The baddest man of his time FACTS!!
No Jackson, mclellen, Benn, nunn, no killers. A well managed career
Joe Calzaghe was a beast though!
Who is Coos de amato? @00:26
Roy Jones's hand speed reminded me of "sugar ray leonard's" hand speed.
The quotations are unnecessary
The only times I watched middle weights boxing. Never been interesting since
“Coos D’Amato”
Lol bro looks like he’s fighting Canelo in the thumbnail
