I absolutely hated posting this comment because there were 69 comments, but I just wanted to say that a cheap Walmart tool kit that includes Allen wrenches would be a great idea to keep with you.
They're like 20 bucks, and it's helpful always having basic tools.
The Cross bars require Allen wrenches to take off and put on.
I also carry an electric air pump and tire plug kit with me, because before I started carrying those I was a screw magnet apparently, but soon as I had them I haven't got a screw since.
Thank you, I didn't know before this video 😊
Thanks for the video
Thanks. Very helpful.
Excellent video! I’m looking to purchase a new Santa Cruz. I would not have thought about checking the spare, and now watching your video, I have learned how to actually check it, and with ease. Thank you so much!
I think I would opt for a full size spare and keep it in the large trunk area built in the truck bed. Little donuts are for eating.
Thanks, Rob I just got a new Santa Cruz and didn't want to get stuck not knowing how to access my spare. Much like you, I hope to never have to use it. I can't imagine that small doughnut on a truck... thanks again.
This guy is a lot better than the user manual. Hiunday needs to send you $$$lol
I’ll second that!!😁
Great explanation and video. I never would have known how to do that. Very simple once you know!!
Thanks👍
Cool. Thanks
I removed my jack kit and buried it in storage, looking to use a rachet with an extension. What mm to use? Cheers!
I have had to do this with a different vehicle years ago. Thanks for showing that the procedure is basically the same. And great pronunciation of Hyundai! :)
Glad it helped👍
Dude, you are a natural. Best explanation video. Thank you. Solved three questions I had. Keep up the good work.
Awesome, thank you!👍
Loving this channel, and the info on the Santa. Tu
Thanks 👍
Good info !
Thanks for watching 👍
Still surprised how close this is to my Subaru BAJA in so many ways.
Same shape and even the spare operates in the same way☺
Well done!
Thanks 👍
Thanks good tip 👏
Thanks for watching 👍
Thanks Rob. I've had my Tacoma almost 2 years. I need to run through the hold spare removal. And check the tire pressure.
Definitely. Nothing worse than needing it and it’s flat😬
it;s the swiss army knife of suv s. and has a lower coefficient drag result due to design
wish it was a full size but at least it has one lol
I installed a Schrader extension valve to check and air the spare. No need to lower.
Nice idea🤔
question can yo put full size spare?
Can you put the space back with the ai4 nozzle faceuing down?
Nope…not without modification.
Aloha and good 🌟 evening 🌚 🌙 Rob. This is a very nice demonstration as this is similar to the Jeep Gladiator JT in lowering the spare tire. Plus, mahalo for sharing this demonstration. Great video 📼 Rob.🌙✨🎉👍🙌👌🤙🤜🤛🌟😇🐶🐕😎🐫👀🌚👨🐎💼💥🆗📼🌅
Thanks Ryannew. Everyone should try it just once so they know how it works👍
Will the full-size (flat) tire fit in the same location as the spare tire or do you need to put it in the pick up bed?
I don’t believe so.
I wish there was another place to put the jack
I wonder if a bigger tire could be put on that spare rim? Nothing crazy, just closer to stock
stainless steel exhaust system !!
Had to drop the spare when I added my Trailor Hitch! Not too difficult, just 6 bolts! Dealer wanted $800.00 and did it myself plus a 4 pin electrical connection for under $400.00! Good add on! A project for you!?!
Hitch purchased on Amazon $263.67!
The 4 pin electrical wiring harness also on Amazon for $40.67, The one that fits the Hyundai Santa Fe worked!! So total was just over $300.00 and the Dealer wanted $800.00!!
Can you show us how to properly check air pressure in the other 4 drive tires
Same procedure on all.
(Off the subject) I just saw a YT video (JF&W Tech) about owners having water accumulate in their headlights and running lights on their new Santa Cruzes. Have you noticed any issues. Might be a topic for another video?
Yup…water gets in.
If you look closely, there is a small gap between the DRLs and the grill frame which gives the appearance of water inside the light fixture. There is not actually water inside the DRL housing - Hyundai service tech showed me as I raised the same issue. All good on my SC!
Good idea on all pick ups and suvs that has spare tire underneath the bed/body and lubricate the cable and mechanism with water / salt repellent grease at least once a year so it dose not get seized. When you need it the most and will not come down, call tow truck to take you to the repair shop.I didn’t had that issue but another issue came up where I need to drop my gas tank the spare tire needed to be removed, and guess what ,the whole mechanism was totally rusted and seized so bad that they had to cut the cable off. Now I have to find a new mechanism to replace it and put my spare back on.Also it my old 04 Tahoe that I got four years ago and the spare was never lowered for maintenance from the previous owners.Plus always check your spare tire for dry rot cracks on the side wall, even ifs never been used it WILL crack within a few years in harsh outdoor elements. And it will need to be replaced. In the past I did that maintenance on my pick up and caravan so it doesn’t get seized.
Good tips👍
Do you need a special tool to check air pressure on drive tires
Not sure what you mean?
Yup, stop at a auto parts store ask for a tire gauge, don't get the cheapest. I prefer American made ones made from steel instead of plastic.
Should grease the cable when u lower the cable on the stairs tires cable
Huh??
@@robmotivetoo meant Spair tire
Deben hacerlos en español tambien
Not sure what you mean? Do what?
Where is the tire lock key located?
Tire lock key?
Having owned several other trucks I was aware of how to lower the tire
that truck looks bigger in person.j s
I agree👍
Agee very simple to do, had to fast forward because your video was like watching paint dry!
Gee...thanks for the tip🙃
Can't even call it a spare really, not even a donut. Might as well just ditch it all together and increase the size of the brunk
Lol! I agree😬
Great video Rob ,very useful. The tool with the hook can be used to hook the rim and drag the spare out from under the truck. Good stuff bro.
Thanks👍
The “hook” is actually for the jack, used in combination with the lug wrench it creates a crank to lift or lower the jack
Another life saver vid from robmotiverides; it can be lonely out there, especially at night. You don't want to learn this on the job.
Absolutely! Al aye best to be prepared 👍
I wish there was another place to put the jack
Would be nice 👍
Fits under the passenger seat! Yep!
