The mist position on most cars is up, to clear any mist off the windshield. Pulling back will activate the washer process. I think the manual is correct Rob. The function you used is pulling back, not lifting up.
I do not interpret it that way. You mist the windshield by puling the control the appropriate way. Given this rationale, the manual is wrong.
You are correct!Rob IS NOT!👍🏻
It even says mist on the wiper control arm, the manual is consistent and technically correct.
@@Nave0009 100% manual is right
I agree with dennisr. Other than that a very helpful video.
the mist is the up function. the pull is the wash
Correct. I think MD mis-interpreted the manual.
100% Correct
It’s hilarious how something as simple as changing wiper blades on our vehicles can be such useful content. It’s a fact that often times the easy things can be a hassle if you don’t pay attention. I’ve embarrassingly accidentally installed wiper blades backwards and I’m relatively mechanically inclined. I felt like an idiot.
I’d have to say that’s why your videos are so interesting because it’s these things we all can struggle with at times and you are not afraid to make content about it.
Enjoy your vids Rob, keep up the great content. Thanks ✌🏼
Thanks Frank. I try to make videos to help and that we can all relate to. I’ve referred to content like this many times for even the simplest things sometimes 😬
Great job - thank you!!!! Easy, Peazy!!!!
If you pull on the handle while the engine is ON won't the washer fluid give you a squirt? Bumping up gives you a mist wipe. But yea, the manual is a little confusing
The manual is correct…pushing up is the mist position where it swipes the windshield once…what you are thinking of is the windshield wash function.
If you look on the stalk that controls the wipers, mist is at the top of the settings. This means that the manual is correct. The wash setting is activated when you pull the stalk towards the wheel. Look at the wiper stalk and you will discover this.
O bty, you don't have to actually start the engine on the santa cruz. Just press the start button twice and let it set for 10 seconds and then turn it off. Hold the wiper stalk up in the mist position for 2 seconds, and the wipers will come up to the position for changing them. Once finished, press the start button twice and place he wiper stalk in any position, and they will return to the off position.
Useful in the winter when you don't want then icing up in the gutter.
Thank you!
Thank you for the information. Great video
Several Mazda models have similar method to change wipers, CX30 and CX50 that we own do.
I was wondering how to change the blades ! Great video !
Thanks👍
Thank you. Seemed hard but really simple.
Thanks for this, one of the downsides to the hood set up.
Thanks for watching👍
I dont think its necessarily wrong in the manual. It's just that the way they interpret "misting" in the manual is the level of rain hitting the windshield and not "misting" as in applying wiper fluid and cleaning the glass. The language of pushing up the stalk and no pulling back kind of helps with that too.
That being said, informative nonetheless. Otherwise I would've had to pull the manual out to learn how to change them too.
thank you, You save my day.
Glad it helped!
Just a clarification, when you pull the wiper multi function switch towards you that is wash. Hyundai has the stalk marked, and MIST is actually moving the lever up which wipes the windshield one time, such as when there is light mist on the windshield to clear, of course down takes it to intermittent , Lo, then High. The manual description is in fact correct when you look at the lever and notice that MIST is not to wash the windshield with washer fluid which is done by pulling the stalk towards you.
Thank you . Gonna be able to show my husband this video when we get this vehicle
Thanks for watching 👍👍
I just put it on the accessory setting then holding it up for two seconds.
back about 20 years ago wiper blades and arms were hidden down low just below the hood
Aloha Rob. The section in the Hyundai Santa Cruz manual for windshield blade change must be edited for proper correction. Nice visual demonstration for this segment. This avoids the chaos and confusion in the windshield segment. Great video 📼 Rob.👌👉🏼👈🏿🤙👍🤜🤛🙌🤜💪👀
It definitely was confusing!!😬
I think they make things intentionally confusing so you'll have to pay the dealer to install new wipers. You outsmarted them s-o-b's! :))
Lol! Now that’s a racket!!😡
If you look at the lever, it shows where the "mist" position is.
Hi Rob! I have a 2022 Santa Cruz, What is the correct size for the wipers? I'm seeing conflicting info online. P.S. How did you get that cool Gauge Cluster Cube Display?
Hey Mike. I’d check the manual for the correct wipers. There is a video on the channel to get that gauge cluster setup. I believe it’s in the settings.
@@robmotivetoo Hi Rob, I only found Directions on how to change them, but not what the correct sizes are (and like you said in their video the directions aren't correct). Glad I found your instructional video. It's just odd that places like Auto Zone, and Walmart etc have different sizes some say 24" and some say 26" for driver side...and I've seen 14" inch or 16" inch for the passenger side.
Maybe under “Specifications” at the back of the manual🤔
Ya my dads old 92 Buick Regal had the whole wiper blade arms tuck underneath the hood and they where the butterfly motion so that you had to turn the accessory position on so they are perpendicular to the A pillar to change them. And also my old 2000 caravan was the same style but they weren’t tuck underneath the hood, so it was easy access to pull the arms up and change blades. On my 04 Tahoe is a different story, the blades are exposed, but only goes part way on flipping the arm back enough to fit your hand underneath to get ahold of the blade and pull due to a stop bump to prevent pulling the nozzle nipple tubes out. They are on the the arms not on the hood or cowling. To its a pain in the ass especially in the winter when the nozzles freeze up due to ice build up. Not the greatest design withGm on this model.
Definitely many different styles out there!
The Manual is correct, if you look at the various positions on your wiper arm, the top most postition is 'mist' ie when you are driving and its dewey or maybe misty, you give it a push up for a single wipe - you seem to be confusing screen wash (pull toward you) for mist.
I disagree.
@@robmotivetoo I followed the Manual, and I had no problem, you followed the manual and you didn't read the stalk. Go ahead, disagree - but the manual is right! (may be Mine being the Canadian Manual I read it different eh?)
I can only state what I read and how I interpreted it. Bring of reasonable intelligence and understanding, I still disagree.
CORRECT
Correct, the clear white labeling on the wheel arm states - 'Mist' as the upper most function. Call it mist, call it a single stroke wipe, but the manual is right. Most I know call the wash function spray not mist.
Pulling is if you want spray the windshield. Mist means if it is misting rain and you want to cycle the wipers once. I don’t believe the manual is wrong, I think you have misunderstood mist position.
But with a Hyundai, the car may wear out before the wipers need changing anyway. 😝
I disagree…on both counts.
@@robmotivetoo ok I am teasing about the second part, look at page 14 of the quick reference guide that came with the Santa Cruz. It clearly says the Mist is up.
Excellent tutorial Rob. You would be a great trainer.
Thanks Paul👍
Manual Is Correct!! You were pulling it back to the 'wash' position----not up to the 'mist' position.
I disagree.
Something lost in translation to English
Yeah the manual says push up to mist position. Not pull towards you. Not that complicated
I have a 2022 Tucson hybrid same problem. The mist on mine is to the up,if i pull towards me that is the window washer.
Seems a bit confusing 😬
Yep it's the same for my santa cruz
It says "mist" on the lever pointing up. How are the instructions wrong?
One of the great automotive mysteries.
"window washer fluid" not "window misting fluid". Considering the stalk of the wipers says mist is up, seems like you are intentionally misinterpreting it.
I call it like I see it. Not everything is a conspiracy .
