  • Here's a little video of how made my yaesu FT991 cross band repeat before I knew what cross-band repeating was.
    Looking back it was truly a hack and one that can be applied to practically any radio - should you chose to be so bold!

    Very cool! I wish there was a plug and play device available for purchase. You need to start mass production! I was thinking about setting something up like this, minus hitting a repeater. I wanted a channel that my wife and neighbor could monitor near the house to communicate with me while I'm mobile with 50w. I don't have cell service, can't hit any repeaters, but could reach my ft-991 on my commute. This would be a great solution. Thanks!

      If it’s just VHF/UHF there are mobiles that do this out of the box, you could put that in your shack and hit it with your mobile and they’d hear you on the HT - although they’d technically need to be licensed to reply.
