- With this house's shoddy paint job, peeling wallpaper, ratty carpet runner, and ramshackle front and back porches, Gail’s semi-detached home is completely unsellable!
What do you think was the main reason why this house was unsellable?

The Unsellables - Can a slick makeover and big sales campaign help desperate homeowners sell their ‘unsellable’ homes? Packed with practical advice and tips to add real value to your house, this bold series hosted by Sofie Allsopp, shows viewers how to transform unwanted properties into unstoppable homes.

It drives me crazy that we don't get to see the completed BACK porch!
That plus I think Gail sold it for too little, because there was a 20k difference between her house and the houses around her and she priced hers low because of all the things that needed fixing.
I was thinking 🤔 the same thing.
They didn’t show the kitchen or other bedrooms
I'm a mortgage underwriter. I would make it a condition of the loan that those porches be repaired. They are definitely a health and safety issue!
The house would never pass inspection if anyone wanted to finance it. Without obvious huge problems repaired.
The paint jobs is easy to fix, but the structural problems are terrible. I don't know how you can live in, let alone sell a home with those issues.
The flowers out the front are nice.
For me porch is a red flag to run away. I don't care for wallpaper or rug as this can be changed. But poor condition is big no-no and I almost anticipate structural issues inside. I don't mind dated, oversized furniture as long as shape of a building is fine.
OMG staples in that stair runner that everyone can see. Yikes! The decorating was cute. Kinda boho. I’m glad it sold.😮
I cannot believe they didn't scrape or sand down the front porch floor before repainting it. That floor was in horrible shape! So, the new paint is going to just be flaking right off the minute someone steps on it.
He said they were going to sand then paint.
It’s best to do small jobs over the years instead of feeling overwhelmed about the huge amount of work the whole house needs.
In the US, the agent doesn't set the price. The homeowner does. Maybe that's a problem. Our sentimentality and greed make us think it's worth more than fair market value. Objective eyes are needed.
Why is every house you renovate painted in lime green?
Why are the beds always in front of the windows? How can you clean them? 🤔
Wow ! I understand the value added by experienced Real estate agents. The fresh coat of painting , the fresh flowers🌻🏵🌸💐🌼🌹🌷, the Decluttering of the house was excellent ! I love her determination to sell and move on with her beautiful daughters ! 🌸🌼🌸💐🌹
Pretty family.
Why did the agent not tell her to do these things before?
She probably tried to tell her but agents can only say so much, and this woman didn't think she even needed an agent, probably thought her house was just fine in this horrendous, shabby condition with broken blinds, wallpaper peeling off, rusty, rickety railings and where it's apparent she never lifted a finger to fix a single thing.
The first thing I would do after buying this house was to change the color of the walls. That green thing on the walls is terrible.
What green “thing” are you referring to? Do you mean paint?
seen. Roses are lovely! House in a terrible state of neglect!. Good job.
What about that horrible back porch??
That's what I want to know too
Before the makeover, I honestly wouldn't even have been interested in that house if she were giving it away for free. Ick! What a mess it was.
I don’t remember exactly when this show aired but I’m pretty sure it was about the time my mother painted everything mint green and I’ve still not entirely recovered from all that green.
This show is from 2008!!!! It is "newly" posted on CZcams - but its recycled content. The bigger and more active part of the real estate sales market has always been in turnkey properties - people like to buy things, homes or cars, that they can enjoy immediately - most people don't like projects even if they can save money.
Yes, videos can be uploaded even if they're filmed 15 years ago, hon, lol.
It looked like some of the wallpaper was peeling off the family room but it doesn’t show it in the end. Only three rooms that you fix?
Looks like the neighbors are interesting too.
Nice transformation
the comp house was beautiful
All the homes i bought were fixer uppers. Except the last one.
Back porch??????
Another homeowner that does the bare bare minimum and can’t even do that well but decides to sell. Drives me.
of course it looks better after new decor but the decor is so old fashion to me it hurts. The runner with the staples...wow
It’s from 2008
what happened to sanding porch? and the downspout needs a touchup. Guess they ran out of time??
Why are bathroom’s not looked at ?
What happened to the back porch and steps?
That house is a mess.
Are the staples on the stair runner visible?
If you staple in the correct direction you can hide them in the nap.
What do you think was the main reason why this house was unsellable? 🏚
Outdated :) and lack of maintenance. I bought an apartment three years ago in an area where the same size and style of apartments went for 10-20k more that what i bought mine for - why? It was holes in my walls from where she had hung stuff and the others buyers just couldn't see past it.
Is the limey green the new black?
It clearly was, back when this show was created…
Wow this woman was delusional
I hope she had her thyroid checked, her eyes are a sign she may need some help in that area. I know because I have been through it myself.
@@loisaustin6200 thank you for sharing this valuable information on the possible connection between eyes and thyroid. I actually thought that she looks a bit like Dianna Ross... especially her eyes.
Why not paint the cailing white and add more lighting in the front porch? Looked so glum...
It’s outside so I didn’t think it mattered??!!!🙄 This house is a DUMP!!
!!!
With a $21,000 plus reduction in cost per the comps in the area minus real estate commission a savvy buyer could have purchased this and spent a minimum of $5000 and gained over $30,000 in sweat equity. I am a former extremely experienced successful realtor with over four decades working closely with the media. Furthermore, these type shows will often highlight themselves while humiliating the client for views.
It's hard for me to fathom. If it's renovation.... Such old style renovation has been done to this house, Including fabric and couch and flowers and everything 😐
It’s 2008
Well it was an improvement but still ugly and unappealing.
You could have pointed out some of the good features she created, i.e., the rose bush and tidy front yard. It doesn't all have to be about criticism and making a homeowner -- especially a single working mom -- look like s**t in front of millions of viewers.
Pretty family but the house was a disaster.
hey Sophie any relation to kirsti?
I believe they are sisters
