    Weekly Cleaning - Descale
    1.Turn off and unplug the humidifier.
    2. Remove Water Tank from Base. Remove Tank Cap, taking care that black rubber Cap Seal
    does not come off. Empty water from Water Tank and Base.
    4. Add 2 cups of undiluted distilled white vinegar to Water Tank. Replace Tank Cap and swish
    vinegar solution around in Tank. Place Tank on Base. Vinegar solution will drain into Water
    Reservoir and loosen mineral buildup (scale) on Nebulizer and Float as they soak in the
    solution. It will also loosen scale on bottom of Water Tank.
    5. Soak for 15-20 minutes.
    6. After soaking, unlock Tank Cap and pour solution out in sink. Pour solution from
    Water Reservoir out in sink. Wipe Nebulizer and Float with soft cloth to remove loosened
    mineral deposits.
    7. Rinse Water Reservoir and Water Tank until smell of vinegar (for Scale Removal process) or
    bleach solution (for Disinfecting process) is gone. Make sure water does not enter the fan
    opening (vented opening in back of base) or Power Knob.
    Instructions for Disinfecting
    Follow Steps 1-3 in Scale Removal Instructions in previous section.
    For Step 4: Add ½ tsp of bleach to ½ gallon (1.9L) of water and add to Water Tank.
    Replace Tank Cap. Swish solution around in Tank. Place Tank on Base. Bleach solution
    will drain into Water Reservoir and will disinfect Water Reservoir and other components
    as they soak.
    NOTE: Using more than 1/2 tsp. of bleach per 1/2 gallon of water may result in damage to
    your humidifier.
    See steps 5-7 in Scale Removal Instructions in previous section to complete Disinfecting
    process.
    NOTE: Do not mix vinegar and bleach solutions together. Scale Removal and Disinfecting
    must be done separately.

      We will be happy to provide that information. We do suggest only distilled white vinegar for cleaning. We would not advise using cooking vinegar. In most stores, you are more likely to find the distilled white vinegar in the cleaning isle. If you have any other questions, please email our support team at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com and we will be happy to assist you.

    • @honeywellpluggedin9834
      @honeywellpluggedin9834  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi David! In order to disinfect the humidifier, we can only recommend using 1 teaspoon of bleach to 1 gallon of water. Please note, we would never recommend running this through the humidifier. We also recommend you rinse the humidifier thoroughly after cleaning until the smell of bleach is gone. If you require additional assistance, please email us at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com.

      This is a year later but I do the vinegar cleaning one day (use humidifier again) then a few days later the bleach cleaning, so I don't have to worry about mixing them. The amount of bleach is so small (1/2 teaspoon in a large jug of water) that's it's not hard to rinse away after about 3 rinses.

      @@honeywellpluggedin9834 I believe she was asking about the hollow tube which brings the nebulized water vapor to the top of the unit. I've been getting some pinkish scale build-up on these parts and there is nothing in the directions which discusses how to clean these two parts. I've tried flushing this passageway with hot water but it has not removed enough of the scale AND it's very difficult to get into that narrow tube with a cotton swab or a cloth. Any suggestions?

      @@markmanlaw I'm having that same issue. I'm thinking of taping the top opening shut or blocking it off somehow so the liquid doesn't just drain out when I fill the tube. Then flipping the top of the unit upside down and filling the tube with vinegar, let it sit for 20 mins, then use a pipe cleaner (or qtip) to clean inside the tube as well as from the top. Then just repeat with the clorox. I'll let you know if it works for me 🤷‍♀️

    • @honeywellpluggedin9834
      @honeywellpluggedin9834  Před 2 lety +2

      Hey Puyo Pop. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. As water drains from the unit into the base, air needs to enter the tank to equalize the pressure. As water is released into the base, a 'gurgling' noise can be heard as air enters the tank. This is normal for this humidifier while it is producing output. We hope you find this information helpful. Unfortunately, a flexible cleaning wand would be the only way to reach inside of the directional mist spout if you are getting any build up in that area. If the wand itself is not enough to clean the area, gently dip it in the vinegar solution to remove the excess build up.
